There is a horse…read moreon the property 'Manny' who flat out attacks people in his pasture and after witnessing an attack Ms. Ramey said (and I quote) 'he hasn't done that in years'. Or the fact that the sheriffs office calls her regularly to come get her horses off the highway because they got out, again (new fencing costs too much). Or when I was told it wasn't reasonable for me to expect my horse to have access to clean water ALL the time. Or the filth left by the numerous other animals on the property like raccoons, opossums, and bats (attaching photo of one of the piles). Maybe the dying and hurting horse in the field (had EPM from consuming opossum poop) that Ms. Ramey refused to euthanize because vets cost too much money, it took three days for him to die. With another horse Ms. Ramey again refused to provide vet care (he's old and will die anyway) so several boarders and customers at the barn paid to have the vet out to visit. What was wrong with him? He had heat stroke, once treated was just fine. How about the fact that the entire barn floods every spring, inside and out. Hope you don't think its reasonable for horses to have dry stalls. I could go on but I need to stop thinking about it. But I will say there is no way in hell I would let my kids ride out there on one of her horses, so if your a parent please don't let your kids ride out there or attend a birthday party there.

In conclusion, enjoy the fun inflations, but I don't recommend them hosting parties.

The main bathhouse was nice, the camp store is very well-stocked, and the snack bar area is super convenient. You also have the option to buy tickets directly for their onsite waterpark, and our pups really enjoyed the dedicated dog park. The biggest perk is definitely the location. Being so close to Holiday World & Splashin' Safari is unbeatable. As far as value goes, the pricing is good if you manage to book during a Black Friday promo. Otherwise, the extra fees really start to stack up. The mandatory resort fee covers Wi-Fi, select activities, and facility access, but on top of that, you are hit with Indiana sales tax on the rent, plus they tax the golf cart rental rate too. Most frustrating of all is the absurd "site lock fee"--if you don't pay extra just to lock it in, your site number is subject to change prior to arrival. A few tips and areas for improvement: * The Shuttle Service & Safety: While the free shuttle to Holiday World is great, during peak times (like a Saturday in July) it is extremely slow. The limited buses get incredibly overcrowded. Small children should really sit on an adult's lap rather than taking up a full seat so more people can fit. More importantly, the buses need to be checked regularly for maintenance, especially low tires. We witnessed one overly crowded shuttle where the tire was almost completely flat--it was so bad that my family and many other guests all noticed and felt it was a major safety hazard. With as much money as this campground charges, they really need to invest in more buses or even open-air trams to handle the crowds safely. * Golf Carts: Make sure to book a golf cart in advance (while making your reservation if available). If you wait until your stay, you likely won't be able to get one--and you will want one because of how hilly it gets once you pass the check-in point. That said, the rental carts themselves could use better maintenance, and the strict rule of only 1 cart per site feels outdated; larger families really need two. * RV Spots & Noise: Some of the RV spots are a pretty tight fit and can be quite unlevel, so bring leveling blocks and patience. We have never had a problem with noise here, but I always make sure to choose a pull-through lot off the main roads to stay away from the heaviest traffic. Given how much the costs have gone up with all the extra fees, combined with the frustrating peak-season shuttle issues, the cons are starting to outweigh the pros for us. Because of this, we are honestly on the fence about continuing our annual trip here. It's a fun place, but management needs to address these logistics if they expect families to keep paying premium prices.

It's just about a 3 hour drive south in none other than Santa Claus, Indiana! Did you even know there was such a place? Don't blink or you may miss it! You must visit the post office which is directly across the street from the campground. They have the biggest ornament shop that ever existed and info on how to write a letter to Santa! So cute. Oh...is that a squirrel? I love to digress... We've gone to Lake Rudolph for the Halloween weekends and they are truly magical! The campground goes allllll out! Cabin, RV, and tent sites decorate and people get SUPER into it their set ups. There is a golf cart parade, a whole carnival of games, a dance party, evening hay rides, and even trick or treating throughout the campground! Add in a visit to Holiday World and you have a trip you want to come back to. We didn't have one the first year but quickly learned golf carts are a must because the campground is big! Those 4 wheels mean more time to explore and candy collect! We felt proud of our carts this year! They definitely made updates between 2022 and 2023. We noticed! The cabins have nicer couches, sheets are nice and clean, everything is well stocked and feels a bit more modern than a simple cabin. I'm already counting down to 2024!
