The caretakers Norma and John were great hosts and went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of. This is a cool looking turn of the 20th century midwestern Greek Revival(? I'm not hip to too many styles) house with lots of Corinthian columns and a wrap around porch with many rockers to sit at and look at the Patoka River and Jasper City Mill. Great looking woodwork inside and nice little decorative features in the molding and wood abound. The rooms are spacious enough as are the beds and each room has it's own a/c controls to make it comfortable to your tastes. Norma and John really stepped out of their way and were happy to let us hang out hours after check out while we waited for a bad storm to bypass us on our way home. She kept wanting to send us away with food just like your grandma wants to! I highly recommend this to anyone looking for something more interesting than the usual hotel/motel/Holiday Inn!

Tonight, when I was laying in bed, I once again thought of our stay here and my memory of it makes me want to go back and stay again over and over again. I had to search through my photos on my phone to remember the name of this place but I finally found it!...So many great things to say-From the couple that owns it and their hospitality, to all of the charm, authenticity, and character that this old home has to offer, to the amazing breakfast provided by the owner who used to be a chef! I still drool thinking about the eggs Benedict that she made me. Absolutely THEE BEST eggs Benedict I have ever eaten. None has compared since having hers. I would go back just to eat them and her hollandaise sauce. The rooms, too were just amazing. Clean, decorated so nicely and everything was renovated. Regina and Fred own the inn. The are unbelievable cordial, caring and accommodating. Our room was so comfortable and we slept so well Regina is a trained chef and had gourmet breakfasts every day. She checked to make sure our tastes were met and each breakfast was so yummy. Great coffee. Cookies in our room The inn itself is an old home that has been done so nicely. Our room had a new bathroom and shower. We had everything we needed to relax. The grounds are prestigious. Fortunate enough to stay in the small, one-bedroom cottage which was very quaint. Reminded me of a family cabin as it was homey and a very casual setting. Although I didn't use it, there was a kitchen and laundry room which could be helpful for those staying for a few days. The bed was a bit harder than I like and it would be great to offer a hair dryer as they are too bulky for a traveler to pack. Overall, I lovely place to stay.

The house, over Labor Day weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday night), cost us $440 (total) for 5 people. The house has two bedrooms and bathrooms, a nice, fully equipped kitchen and a patio/deck with a gas grill. There is a washer and dryer in the first-floor bathroom. Our third person stayed on the hideaway bed, but we also found a nice twin mattress set upstairs. The house was clean, cozy and really nice! We were within walking distance of everything in town. There was only one potential snag in the whole experience....our GPS's had us all turned around (we were on 5 motorcycles), so we ended up asking some police officers that were parked at the gas station where the house was. We would never have found it, had we not gotten an escort from the nice police officer! He knew the house and said, "Follow me--it's tricky." The street sign had two names on it, with the one we needed to see, all covered up by tree branches. Note to the lovely Vesta: Please warn people of this, because it would be nearly impossible to find in the dark. Be sure to bring TP, paper towels, a sponge and dish soap. We'll stay there again. It was a wonderful house and a great deal!

Before we went to our bedroom each night Theresa made some kind of delicious cake from scratch...my favorite was the strawberry. Our bed was a four poster with attached bathroom. Softest sheets ever. Loved Netflix binging and hen walking up to smell of bacon and coffee. We will never forget this stay as long as we live. I consider myself a bed-and-breakfast aficionado and have spent decades staying in places all over the world. We are 2 busy executives and wanted a beautiful wedding with little involvement. From perfect food (David is amazing) and decorations to MY taste, this venue and staff does not disappoint. My fiancé and I could have picked any location, anywhere around the world to have our private and professionally executed wedding. We chose The Barn at Southern Grace. We simply have no regrets. We choose to rent the entire house as well but you don't have to do that. Renting the B&B for our family and friends from out of town provided a much more intimate event for us and allowed us use of the entire place with zero interference or interruption. It was like being in our own large fancy house. From the professionalism of the staff, the amazing cooked to order- personal choice- breakfasts to the personalization of everything you could think of that a bride might need, they accommodated and went over the top. There were many changes. They accommodated. From our wedding doubling in size of attendees, to the bridal party forgetting that they needed to leave one car at the house and the owner of this B&B driving me to my hair appointment the day of my wedding-the personal service is top notch. My parents couldn't be there. Theresa doubled as my mom and stayed with us to make sure that every single detail was perfect. We added extra people for breakfast; no problem. We changed the menu at the last moment; no problem. The use of the house that goes with this place is not required but it absolutely made a difference. David and his excerpt cooking are a quiet unsung accolade for this venue. The Barn at Southern Grace is one of the sweetest, coolest places to have a wedding-and it's recognized internationally. If you're looking for a venue you need to stop by and give Theresa and David some of your time. The staff is incredibly responsive to your needs. The package includes food, decorations, photography, the use of the venue, and anything else you need. When I asked for more photography they sent another professional photographer and the pictures are simply stunning. I happen to have a thing for llamas, and we went outside and I was able to feed them and our wedding pictures include them. We met Jenny Wilkerson, the proprietor, who showed us around and explained the amenities. Our room, the Ohio suite, is fit for a bride and decorated beautifully. Steps from the first stop on the Winery trail, this is the perfect location to relax and enjoy your bottle. Our bed was very comfortable and we had a quick soak in the outdoor hot tub. Great for families too with a game room upstairs and sofas that convert to beds for the kids. Highly recommended.
