Where a lot of the other shops are over cluttered, I appreciate the clear movement through this store with clean displays. Of course, like many tourist stores, it is quite kitschy, but I did end up purchasing something here, a Ginger Sage Mist for sprucing up our guest room. It's been a welcome addition to the house. Also, I found the workers here extremely friendly. Note: I did appreciate the purchase summary breaking down the tax cost to the shopper. They include Texas State Tax (6.25%), Aransas County Tax (0.5%), Rockport City Tax (1%), and Aransas County Health Services Tax (0.5%).

Windswept! This Rockport shopping center is along Business 35, the main drag in this town. It's…read moresituated in front of the Super Wal-Mart, and has tenants such as Game Stop, Great Clips, Little Caesar's Pizza, and more. Parking has always been a challenge at this strip center. It's got a shallow lot that makes things cramped. There's lots of windswept oaks in the parking lot, which provide ample shade, but detracts from the number of spots available. It's hard to see what's going on in this shopping center, because of all the trees! It's nice that this shopping center blocks the view of the Super Wal-Mart. You have to drive right by this place to get there, which can sometimes make things hazardous with all the Wal-Mart customers barreling through here. Oh the irony that this place is called "Windswept Plaza" It seems that this place got rather hard hit by heavy winds during Hurricane Harvey. I think they lost part of the roof, and many of the businesses have been closed for an extended period of time. A few of the windswept oak trees got swept away by the wind. The last space on the end has had a drive-thru in the past. All of the tenants in here are chains. There's not a single local business in here.

I was walking down the sidewalk having my first go at the shops there when I saw a sign that said "Come try a Poinsettia Mimosa" and my curiosity pulled me inside without a second thought. The shop is well curated with something for everyone to love. My favorite things that tugged my wallet were the bedding and grow pillows (very unique and high quality) and there are these incredibly soft kids button down shirts that would be great to get wet at the beach, dry quickly, protect from the sun AND look dapper all at once. What will have me return? Live music Saturdays!!! And the lovely woman who I chatted with behind the bar in the back. Yummy wine menu and sweet local vibes. Enjoy!

In the market for a market? Let me market this market. This…read moremarket is the monthly fun festival that Rockport has out on the big public festival grounds in front of the Blue Crab. Here, they have vendors who set up booths to show off their wares. Sometimes, there's special guests, special musicians who perform, or a rocket race car, or a ballerina horse. You never know what to expect here. My favorite is always all the art here- they tend to stick with a beach-y, birds and fish and turtles with drinking beer kinda theme throughout most of the merchandise. I love it! The market goes on right next to Rockport Beach, so you really could go, swim, and show up and shop for frozen lemonade and gumbo in your swimsuit after taking a plunge in one of Texas' only Blue Water Certified Beaches, just steps away. Restrooms are provided.

It's a good place to go if you're female, which I am not- they weren't really going for my demographic, but they have cool stuff anyhow. The shop was well organized with a variety of fashionable looking clothing and accessories- things like earrings and handbags. The clerk was welcoming, and invited me to come in and check things out. They had some cool wares. Prices were clearly marked, and parking was easy.
