I think very highly of this practice. My doctor Dr. Happel is fantastic. He takes the time to explain to me what's going on. He doesn't mind me having him dictate that into my phone so I have accurate records. He also gives me instructions. I was having trouble with the team that was supposed to come by and clean my wound. The nurse practitioners at this practice will clean my wound on the walking basis at their acute clinic. I think very highly of his team. Z, one of the admin of that Happel is very good. Nor Gleason and a few of the nurse practitioners are commendable. If you were looking for a good practice, this is it. They also have an awesome honor vending machine in the basement. read more

Dr. Cowen and NP Schrack are wonderful. Dr. Cowen has been my PCP on and off since I was 15, I'm 37 now!!! Everytime I move back to Rockville she is the first doctor I reach out to. This was my first visit. I was greeted nicely, taken back quickly, and all my concerns and issues were heard and received well by Maria Caccavo, NP. I was so pleased with her and how she really listened to me. She took what I had to say seriously, put in for a full panel of bloodwork to see what's going on, I went straight to the lab, did that quickly, and she promised to reach out in 24 hours if anything was concerning. While the doctors and nurses seem respectful and knowledgeable, the reception staff is not as helpful. It is a comprehensive clinic with many practices including onsite urgent care for patients in the practice. But very disappointing after hours nursing / medical interaction - with the Rockville office not having anyone on staff and Rockville patients not allowed to consult with in-practice doctors in other locations. read more

RIMG PREDATORY BILLING! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE I was charged for a well -visit because the provider said, "Did anyone tell you you have _____." "Me: Yes, I have been told that." No further conversation. - an office charge for that! They also like to prescribe (do) extra scans 'in-office' to further charge insurance and the patient (if deductible has not been met). When I called about my billing concern, I was unable to finish speaking before being cut-off or abruptly being put on hold in mid-sentence (multiple times). RIMG - do a better job with billing and customer service. Don't justify charging an office visit for a well-visit. Are times that hard you need $40? I should've left when Dr. Holmes left. I won't go back again. Potential patients look elsewhere. read more

I said good morning 3 times to man on lab reception desk on 4/4, who did not reply to me! Another patient came in and asked whether he needs to fast before giving blood. Reception staff were unhelpful. I had to tell the patient to ask the person who would take his blood, but if he was not being tested for lipids he likely did not have to fast. He remarked loudly that my comments had been more helpful than those from the reception staff. The technician who took my blood, Amy, was excellent. Unlike LabCorp I cannot get my results online. I will go back to LabCorp in the future. read more

Very poor customer service all around from staff (incl. Lab, front desk, check out desk, billing) to doctors. Poor communication and transfer of information. They also charge you without informing you upfront of potential out-of-pocket expenses. I have not experienced this low quality health business management of any other practice I been assisted by. This practice is terrible. They have zero availability, and arbitrarily cancel appointments. I've never had a customer experience like this where a 'provider' of any typ is this difficult to work with. Their app is terrible and the better doctors have left the practice. The dietician had a 1980s view on nutrition and the wife's pcp told my mid 40s wife it's good to put on weight so you don't break hips. It is honestly shocking, other than sending samples to lab testing this place adds no value to healthcare. read more

Like so many reviewers here, I find this practice a total nightmare. I really have stayed for the GI doctor. The staff is consistently rude; It's as if they're trained to be this way. I have already found a new PCP at a practice that is so easy to work with. I am switching insurance carriers and did not want to experience a lapse coverage and explained that I might need to cancel the Zoom appointment. I was told I would not be charged for a Zoom conversation, and that the doctor would enter the visit as a note. Then I received an email stating that my credit card would be charged $304. When I call to address this issue, I speak to the rudest staff imaginable. I would tell anyone considering visiting this practice to look elsewhere. read more

If you are looking for a medical practice that does not care for you health or wellbeing This Is The Place!! I went in with a rash on my face that itches & was very uncomfortable, and saw a NP. She gave me a cream and when I got home I made a just in case appointment with the practices dermatologist, Dr. Yamini Saripalli for the next week. The cream did not work and when I saw Dr S. She apologized as the cream the NP prescribed was too strong for the face. Dr. S. gave me two more creams. When these creams did not work after two weeks I called for another appointment with Dr S. . I was told 6 weeks for the next appointment. Six weeks?!? I explained this would be my third visit for this and my face was very , very, uncomfortable. Please could I at least get a virtual appointment or Just a phone call. A phone call at the end of the day, please. They said they would check and the gatekeeper called me back At 6:49 pm that night. They called with the good news; I can come in, in 4 weeks. My face itches and uncomfortable, I have been in twice and I CANNOT EVEN GET A PHONE CALL FROM THE DR!! Four weeks. No calls allowed?? Is Dr. Saripalli that uncaring? I called my daughter's dermatologist, explained the situation and how uncomfortable I was and they saw me the next day, as they put me in before the scheduled first appointment. Incredibly indifferent doctor's office. I made an appointment as a new patient and was told to go on line and enter my details on a"myprivia" app. When I called to say that the app was not working , so could they take my Insurance, details, credit card etc, I could fax or email them, I was told by a deadpan voice that it was not their concern, I would have to follow up with the software company myself. I asked for the telephone number, they did not have it, and said I would have to figure out how to get through. I cancelled the appointment and will look for another practice. My most recent experience: two people behind the desk ... one wouldn't even look up from his computer to greet me or respond to my questions ... the other was talking and laughing loudly with a coworker, which I could see they were looking at personal pictures on her computer. It is difficult to give a single review to such a large practice with many specialists. Medical professionals may not like to have management-imposed standards of care but RIMG is so uneven they need them. For example, dermatologists can spend more time (say more than 5 minutes) on an annual skin check and less time promoting unsolicited telehealth visits to review skin care product ingredients. read more

Dr. Berger has been my GP for many years and he is the best! He is prompt, kind, and insightful. The practice has grown a lot over the years, and other doctors/specialists that I have used have been great health practitioners. Dr. Berger was quick to notice some symptoms a few years ago that seemed like a mystery and his referral to a specialist was immediate. As a result, I was able to get a full diagnosis and surgery that instantly fixed everything. The office/reception is really fast to check in, and check out is quick, too. read more

I had a virtual visit a couple months ago to get a prescription filled. I called today and spoke with a receptionist to ask for a letter for my employer that says I may be at increased risk for Covid19 due to my pre-existing conditions. I was told the only way I could get a letter was to schedule another virtual visit. I asked why I need to schedule a virtual visit for them to confirm my medical conditions that have been documented for years especially when I have just had a virtual a couple months ago. Their response was the epitome of outstanding customer service you can expect from RIMG: "You want a letter you have to have a virtual visit. I don't make the rules. If you're looking for a practice that will care for you while you're sick, this is not your place. I've been horse for 6 weeks, had some congestion last week but mostly over. They refused to give me an in-person appointment. Only online visits for to see patient any person with congestion. Ridiculous. They can't listen to your lungs, check inside your ears or take a look at your sinuses online!! So they either overprescribe unneeded antibiotics or miss an infection that can turn into something worse. They are not doing their jobs and and correctly treating patients. They wear PPE! Not like Covid is something new! You can't treat congestion online!! They're doctors and need to treat the sick! They can't everything online!!! I'm a new patient but will go someplace else that actually cares for their patients and isn't scared of the sick ones. Don't be a doctor if you don't want to treat the sick!!! There are a lot of things that can't be treated online and congestion is one of them! I went to an urgent care and I'm not viral, just bad allergies that needed treatment. First time patient here and first impressions all around are not good. It seems like it is a pop-up shop. Very dirty, from the waiting room. Boxes/chairs all over the place. Same goes at their in house lab where I went to give blood. The tech bruised me very badly but again a very dirty space. Bathroom was a disaster. I have an excellent doctor at this practice, but the administrative part of the group needs major improvement. I went to Quest Diagnostics for lab tests that were supposedly sent electronically to Quest. When I arrived at the lab, I was told nothing had been sent to them by this practice. I was able to get a hard copy of the order and returned to the lab. The staff at Quest said that this practice (RIMG) can't send electronic orders because they can't "crossover" to the Quest system. Then i am told that one of the orders is blank for a diagnosis. They said they couldn't complete the test without the specific order code. Maybe some of this a Quest problem, but I have used them for many years without any issues. One additional minor issue is that the practice's parking lot is almost entirely reserved for valet parking or other private businesses at their building. When I asked about that, I was told to see the valet parking attendant , who would help me find an open space. I think I could do that myself without help, provided that there were any spaces available. read more

Being treated for a painful skin condition. Office has declined my refill request for an antifungal powder (not abusable, no street value) while I am still supposed to be using it. Been waiting a week now, cannot get to speak with anyone but the receptionist, who assures me she will "pass on the message" and "mark it urgent." But no doctor ever returns my calls. They are my "primary care" doctors, so they collect $$ from my insurance company while denying me care. Bordering on malpractice. read more

I have been a patient here for several years, but each time I visit they try to find as many ways to charge you for routine services, including annual physicals which should be covered by insurance. RIMG claims that it's the insurance company's fault but the only reason the insurance will not cover the routine checkup is because RIMG constantly codes each annual physical as a sick visit. Further, they constantly sneak in labs as part of the physical that are not covered by insurance. If billing honesty is important to you, I suggest you go elsewhere. read more

Kelly Cowen, MD is the best. The PAs and nurse practitioners are excellent. Very little wait time from my experience. Parking is good esp now with Valet. The early morning and late afternoon open clinic style for minor ailments or sickness is fantastic and so needed. If any negative, blood work, etc. Is very slow, but no appt policy and few staff creates the delay. Additionally, the techs that checks patients in prior to appointment (blood pressure and weight) are generally neither friendly nor very cairing staff. read more

I wish there was a way to delineate between physicians and the lab staff. My two doctors, Saripalli (dermatology) and Woo (gastroenterologist) are phenomenal. They typically run behind a bit, but that's because they take their time with you and make sure you are really listened to. The front desk staff are very friendly as well. My issue with the lab staff was when I had to get blood drawn they wouldn't acknowledge my presence and I had to ask them if they would please help me out and when I did they said, "We saw you..." and then nothing. It was infuriating. I never lose my temper with people and I told them directly that it would be nice to know. If I can, I will go somewhere else for my next set of lab work. read more

My friend had an appointment [made 3 weeks in advance] for a colonscopy at RIMG and 10 days before the procedure a voice mail was left on their phone that was almost completely incomprehensible. The only decipherable words in the 3 minute call were "cancel" and "colonoscopy" and virtually nothing else. Any medical group that does not employ a person with a distinct clear ability to communicate, should not be working there nor allowed to leave a VM message that is unclear. They will be looking for another group to get the test done but shame on RIMG for not focusing on hiring personnel who can communicate clearly. I'm sure the doctors might be good but you have to go thru hoops before you can get in their doors. read more

Avoid Rockville Internal Medicine Group. I had a telemedicine with one of the doctors for review of a test result. They charged me $632.00. Aetna, which is a very bad insurance company but the only one available to my company paid $297.97 of the total charges. Then the Privia Medical group charged my card for $150.00 without sending me a bill first. And later they sent me an additional bill for $184.03. I called them 3 times and every time they said they would look into it but they never did. Avoid Rockville Internal Medicine group and their billing Privia Medical group. While I do like my doctor at this practice when I see him, the practice is nonresponsive when it comes to anything other than patient visits. They encourage you to use the patient portal and then they do not respond to messages for weeks. Simple messages, like prescription refill requests and similar issues arising from insurance changes. I have been going to this practice for many years, but it has deteriorated to the point where going there is like not having a primary care doctor. Appointments, for both sick visits and physicals, are repeatedly canceled and rescheduled. Then one finds out that it was rescheduled incorrectly and has to be rescheduled yet again. Lab orders are not sent, messages to physicains are not responded to for days, sometimes they never are. RIMG is indeed more like a corporate bureaucracy, an incompetent one, than a medical practice. read more

5 stars for Dr. Ira Berger, 1 star for the administrative personnel. I recently had an in-office appointment scheduled during the COVID-19 pandemic (for a non-corona concern). Due to fear of exposure to the virus, I called to ask about their safety procedures. I asked the following questions over the phone: - Will the assistant take my temperature with a contact-less device? - Will there be any physical contact with the assistant? - Can I skip the blood pressure test and go straight to the doctor after having my temperature taken to minimize my contact with personnel? Their answers to all of the above were "I don't know," and they kept hanging up on me. Regretfully, I still went in for the appointment and observed a group of staff members gossiping about my calls. I'm almost certain they were closer than 6 feet to me. A pandemic is no excuse to disrespect a patient like this. In addition, the admin staff should have a basic knowledge of their practice's policies and procedures during a pandemic. They are incompetent and highly unprofessional. read more

4-5 stars for the medical staff and lab 0 stars for some front desk workers. Some do a great job and deserve a 5. Some of the front desk staff need to be fired. I just called to make an appointment with an MD I have been seeing for years. Instead of making the appointment, the person on the phone argued with me about the MD's specialty (and misstated the MD's specialty) and then hung up on me. How is that even remotely acceptable? The management needs to, at the very least, make the staff state their name on the phone, so they can be held accountable for their actions. Also, you should provide patients with a simple way to give feedback to a manager. Looking at other reviews, I am not the only one who has been hung up on. Again, why is this person hired to perform customer service? This is the opposite of customer service. Fortunately, when I called back, I happened to get a different staff member who kindly helped me with everything I needed. The doctors and lab staff are great, but a practice can live or die based on how patients are treated by their front desk staff and staff on the phone. read more
