This marker sits in a park where there is a baseball field and some other stuff and you can get the sense of the residential aspect of the Borchert Field days with the houses and such just across the street. It was a neighborhood ballpark much like Wrigley Field. It's a pretty simple marker but I would encourage you to check it out and let your mind wander to Milwaukee's baseball past.

There's also a huge, public parking lot on site which is free to use. I emailed the Little Red Store to see if the space was available for use during my desired date and I could not have been connected with a kinder person. The Little Red Store staff member or maybe it was a volunteer - was prompt, helpful and would run down answers to questions I had if they didn't know the answer off the top of their head. The reservation process was straightforward and we got confirmation very fast. Leading up to the event, the staff answered any questions I had via email quickly. We decided on the room set about one week before the event date and then I was connected directly with the volunteer who was going to open up the space for us day of. We arrived about 15 minutes before our scheduled rental time and were able to get into the space and start setting up then which was hugely helpful because we only rented the space for three hours (that included time for set up and clean up). A few rules we had to follow- no flames inside the store so we used battery operated candles for the cake. We couldn't tape or tack anything to the walls. We brought a portable clothes rack that we decorated and used as a backdrop. We also had to take all garbage with us after the event. I want to stress the fact that this space is small. They allow a capacity of about 27 people which is what we had attend. I would recommend this venue if you had 20 or less guests otherwise you'll be a bit crammed. And if you're having a lot of kids attend (we didn't) it might not be the best venue for you as it's a historical site. A quick note on included amenities - there's a bathroom inside. Tables and chairs are included in your rental. We also brought a little folding table for gifts. The kitchenette is a great, compact size. There is no stove/oven or coffee machine/maker. There is a fridge and a small counter space for any dish prep you might have to do. There' also a sink. Overall we're so happy with this space and how well it worked for our daughter's 2nd birthday. It was affordable. Our guests enjoyed the location and uniqueness of the venue, and everyone we worked with at the Little Red Store was pleasant and accommodating. So glad they allow the public to rent this space!

The depot was built in 1892 by the Chicago & Northwestern Railway. Most of the station was used for…read morefreight with a smaller ticket window and waiting area. The depot served the community, formerly known as Buckhorn, especially after John and Patrick Cudahy bought 700 acres and built a meat packing plant. The growth of the business required an influx of workers, many immigrants who arrived through this very station. Patrick Cudahy owned the land and allowed the C&NW to build the depot but maintained interest in the land. The C&NW ended passenger service to Cudahy in 1940 although freight service continued. When freight service was discontinued, the depot fell into disuse and disrepair. It was doomed to the wrecking ball in 1971, but the Cudahy Historical Society was founded in 1972 with the express purpose of saving the depot. A successful petition forced the city rescind the condemnation order. The Cudahy Family passed the depot and the land to the Cudahy Historical Society. In 1983, it was declared a county landmark. In 1989, a generous grant from the Patrick and Anna Cudahy Foundation was used to restore the depot with labor provided by volunteer members of the historical society. The depot is a museum now. It is open the last Saturday of the month, April through October. I'm only giving it three stars for now, because I've not seen the inside. The outside is certainly impressive, and this is a great example of an extant structure, once common but now seldom seen.

Nickel games!!!! This would be welcome anytime they've got a fair going on, really. The games were fun, challenging, affordable, and had so many neat toys for the kids to win. They were similar to carnival games or fair games, but at a fraction of the cost, of course. If you needed to brush up on some games for state fairs, this would be your time :D Getting the ride pass for the whole weekend was a steal because in this weather, it's easy to just go back over and over. Plenty of great food from local restaurants as well as food trucks; seriously, you can't walk away hungry, and if you do, you've missed out. The walking taco, grilled cheese, pizza, ribs, brats, Eagle Park beer selections, soft pretzels, and wine tent. It's easy to head out and find all sorts of shops to visit while you're enjoying the music and weather. The bands are great, and there's always plenty of room for dancing. The crowds come and go, so you have a good chance of snagging a decent parking spot if you make it in at the right time. Bring the family, plan on spending time relaxing and enjoying what the Village of Greendale has to offer!

There are teeny, tiny houses crowded together on one lane streets and then there is South Ridge Mall. That's right, South Ridge is in Greendale, NOT Greenfield! The mini-mall where Bed, Bath and Beyond is, IS in Greendale. Greenfield Fashion Center, home to Half Price Books and Jo-Ann Fabric is NOT. Most of the other Greendale neighborhoods are "normal", it's just the one around the downtown area where the houses are lined up like cans on a grocery store shelf with a narrow one lane street to access them. These homes are why Greendale is called a village. So, the village.... it's home to some cute stores, a malt shoppe, a couple of restaurants, a couple of hair salons, a middle school, a nice bakery, a library and the village hall, among other things. Tucked behind the shops on the east side of the main street, aka Broadway, is a small park. At the southern end is Greendale High School. There is even an industrial loop, but you can only access it from Loomis, near the Steakout. Speaking of the Steakout, I hear it's a pretty decent place to eat; it even has 4 Yelptastic stars! Ray and Dot's Tap is located on Grange and I've been told it's a pretty neat place to get a drink; 4 1/2 Yelpy stars! Pretty much anything else you could want is located on 76th, right in or near the mall, so take a day and explore the area. You'll like it! 28/2016

Having seen many of the Thomas Dambo trolls, I can honestly say that Mama Rosa is one of my…read morefavorites. I love her whimsical nature and gentle spirit. The light fixture flowers are the cherry on top as Dambo reminds us to stop and smell the roses. Though it can be hard to tell from photos alone, she is quite large as my husband is 6ft tall and her leg is longer than him when he stands next to her. I can't imagine how much joy she must bring to the children here as they play at the playground with her watching over them. She is a glorious sight to behold, indeed!
