Definitely not a "one stop" place, it's a quick hike (approx. 1/2 mile) to see the falls, and if you go spur of the moment, like I did, you'll won't see more than a trickle if it hasn't rained recently. But if you want to avoid crowds, or are out for the day checking out other parks in the area, this is a quick, easy, scenic hike that will quickly reward you with some beautiful scenery/waterfalls, weather-permitting. This is the Mushroom House in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Cincinnati. The amount of detail is really breathtaking: circular steel steps, deck rails of wood shingles, stained glass windows, tiled ceilings... of course, I had to snap some pics. How often do we come to Cin City. The original owner/builder by the name of Terry Brown has passed away in 2008. If you're passing through Cincinnati you have to stop by the Mushroom House. This is the most…read moreunique real house I have ever seen. It is a relatively young house, when it comes to house age. It was started to get built by architect Terry Brown in 1992 and completed in 2006. Terry Brown him self resided in it until his passing in 2008. This house looks like a mushroom from a certain angle, and like an owl from another. It is a fairytale house in the real world. There's so much fine detail, there's no wonder it had taken this genius man 14 years to complete this artistic masterpiece of a home. The spiral orange stair case was chained off not allowing access to the public. There was a car parked in the driveway as well as a surveillance camera. They also had a "no trespassing" sign. The land around, although very minimal is very well groomed and well kept. Something tells me there are people who currently reside here. I don't know how I would feel about living in a home that gets so much attention and that is always being photographed. The Mushroom House is a must see in Cincinnati. Plenty of hiking / walking trails. The pool is not heated and we were there early in the season so it was still too cold for us. The hot tub was great, but could use a little TLC. It is plenty big (made by the residents themselves!). I had to rewrite the brakes in our trailer while there and not one person complained, in fact one of the residents lent me some tools! It's a little rustic and could use an infusion of money to improve the maintenance; however all-in-all a great place. Check out the nearby Serpent Mound park! We will definitely stay there again!

In the "little kid" playground area there are smaller stairs to climb and things to balance on. There are tunnels, a little picnic table at the bottom, and some steering wheels to spin. In the "big kid" playground the climbing is taller and definitely more advanced. The 3 year old had trouble reaching some things, but nonetheless tried! There are two awesome and obscure shaped monkey bars, many spinning seats, and large slides! They also have a great area with various giant musical instruments to play. On the far side of the playground there is a splash pad. It was still on and running today! This park is wide open and had so much space for the kids to run and play. There are many picnic tables with shade and a large shelter too! We LOVED this park!!

I'm an adult and I wanted to play! Kids of all ages, outside, playing, laughing! There is a nice covered picnic area with water fountains (including a tall one to fill up a bottle), and a paved, covered path to the restrooms. There is a Men's, women's, and family restroom. There is a lot of shaded areas for parents to sit and relax while the littles wear themselves out.

Also there was so many flys it was hard to enjoy our time there we tried to use vinegar and dish soap we also bought fly traps nothing seemed to help. I came home with over 10 bits using bug repellent! The shower area had no soap for hand washing for 2 days I was there.. I also heard ppl up partying and yelling well after quitting time!

The folks working here were super nice and helped us plan on what we could do in the shorter than normal time we had to explore. Lots of steps down and up with some of them being rather higher than your normal step so plan accordingly. The path is easy to follow. Lots of "Oh my goodness, that's so pretty moments". We'd been to Paint Creek a number of times over the past few years as my brother comes out and camps, hunts and fishes here. If you're in the area, give this hike a go. Not hard at all, well marked and lots of things to see.

A variety of trails lead down into a nice wooded area along a creek to explore. We were able to see a number of small fossils down there. There are multiple access points (some with stairs, some without, as well, depending on your preference), so referring to the map or keeping an eye on the trail markers can be helpful for wayfinding. There is also a mountain biking trail. The other side offers closer proximity to the sports area, which includes pickleball, tennis, and basketball courts. Fun place to visit!

One of my favorite parts was the nature center. The staff and naturalists were incredibly kind and helpful, and the space itself is really well done. There's a cute gift shop, educational displays, and even a small children's museum feel with a few live animals to see. It's a great spot to learn something new or play around. Outside, the park is incredible. The trails are extremely well maintained, both the wooded paths and the paved ones, making it perfect for an easy walk or a hike. There's also an outdoor fitness trail that I loved. It has different workout stations along the way, and it's actually really fun, not just functional. It's a great way for both kids and adults to be active. There's also a huge playground and a mini water park area for kids, plus accessible bathrooms and good seasonal amenities. It's very family friendly without feeling overcrowded. If you're into disc golf, this place is a gem. There's a large disc golf course, and they even sell discs and gear right inside the nature center. Another thing worth mentioning is how amazing Great Parks of Hamilton County is overall. They offer so many programs like beginner fishing, guided hikes, plant swaps, art workshops, amphibian hunts, and even owl pellet dissections. Not all of these are specific to this park, but many are hosted here, and it really adds to how special the experience is. Overall, this is an extremely pleasant place to spend time. Whether you're walking the trails, working out, bringing kids to play, or just exploring the nature center, there's something for everyone.
