A fabulous off leash park! Lots of grass to romp through, gentle hills and a path around the park for dogs or humans who prefer to not go trapping through grass. This is a nice large open space. A few cement cylinders if jumping up on or going through tunnels is a thing your dog likes. On our visit all the dogs and humans were friendly. Our dog is in the smaller side, 15 lb and 4 years old. This is the best dog park! Massive open field to run around on with the river right nearby. The dogs and people are friendly. They've got some little tunnels that dogs can run through and jump around on. There are buckets of water and dog waste bags as well. They've also got a nice little path that runs around the park that you can walk on while your pup(s) gets their exercise. I love this place and I won't be going anywhere else! read more

We were recently introduced to this dog park on the Southern end of Petaluma. It is the biggest and by far the best dog park, we have been to with our fun loving Golden Doodles in Sonoma County. Petaluma dog lovers, you are so fortunate to have such a beautiful and large, all grass park, for your furry family members. We are envious. I'm a big fan of this dog park. Mostly because of how large it is and the proximity to my house. I haven't had any unpleasant experiences here with dog owners or dogs. Some reviews mention a lot of poop left on the ground but I wouldn't say there is a lot, just some. In the winter it can get really muddy so I usually avoid it but my lab loves all the smells at this dog park. Like any dog park, you should always be aware of your surroundings and pay attention to your dog. My one complaint is that the water situation for the dogs is not the best. It's usually non-existent. It's also SUPER windy here, so make sure to bundle up! read more

We could've stayed home and had a far better dog park experience. We were seeking a dog park on our way home from attempting to go to Dillon Beach, which was overcrowded and couldn't get a parking spot, but wanted our pup to have some runaround time after a long drive. Sadly, the canine that this park was named after has a fail from its namesake. Dirt, weeds, creepy path, and absolutely no dogs. They obviously know something we didn't. read more

My favorite dog park in Petaluma! Beautiful views and HUGE open area for your pups to run as far and as long as the please. Also some cement cylinders rounds for the dogs to run through and jump on top of. Around the perimeter of the park there is a walking path you can take a stroll on with you dog or while there playing. Lots of lawn chairs are left there for owners to sit on but beware they most definitely have been peed on..lol. Also this park is right on the Petaluma river so it's advised to bring a jacket just in case it can get a little windy and cold. Lots of parking only downfall is no fence surrounding the parking lot so you have to be very carful driving in and out. If it's super sunny there is minimal shade and if it's rainy it's almost always muddy. read more

I wish this place was nice. The positive is that it's big enough that guy can throw a ball and get some exercise in. However, it's just a field of foxtails in the summer. It also seems like it's mostly big dogs that are there. Just something to be aware of if you have a small dog. Also should note that there's no fence between the parking lot to the park so if your dog is shy, be prepared for a greeting committee. read more

This dog park might not have luxurious plastic equipment for dogs to prance around but it does have some solid cement tubes for jumping on and going through. It also features acres upon acres of grassy fields for the dogs to run in while the owner has the pleasure of enjoying the view of the gorgeous and epic Petaluma river. One time, at the dog park, I saw a rabbit bravely run across the whole field being chased by probably fifteen dogs. The rabbit amazingly made it to the other side without being torn apart and it was quite entertaining for everyone there to witness. Bring your own bags and bring some extra to leave for others, as there are rarely bags. read more

I love bringing my dogs here! There's a ton of room for them to run around and the landscape changes with every season so the park doesn't get boring for them. The park is well kept but it could use a few benches (for the older dogs and their owners to hang out on) and some trees (it is all open space right now and on hot days there isn't really anywhere to cool off). A nicer watering system for the dogs would be great (as of right now there are dirty, broken old buckets that park goers have to drag over to the water hose by the entrance and then lug back over to the park "watering hole."). But my dogs really enjoy their social hour and I love that they are able to wear themselves out with all of the running they are able to do. Be on the lookout for "dogs gone wild" though, with so much room the dogs that aren't great at listening to their owners have ample opportunity to get rowdy with other dogs. I've also seen some dog-aggressive dogs try to go after other pets so try and keep an eye on your own pets just in case (I would say this is more the exception than the rule though, most pet owners that go here are pretty responsible about watching their own dogs). read more

This place is great mostly because of the size of the park. It's huge! Great spot for your little four legged buddies. My dogs love it here but I can't say the same for myself. I like it but it's very limited in some aspects. It could be nicer with some trees and shade. There also aren't any fences between the park and where people park. Overall it's a great spot, we like coming here over the summer. It's fairly maintained and it's also free so you can't really complain. Ok for weird dogs to run around. There is a doggie mess everywhere so bring an extra set of shoes. Fun for some digs but beware of people who have aggressive dogs that are not trained well. This is my dogs favorite dog park. I like it too because there is a nice loop walking trail so you can get exercise too. It's a big dog park so you don't feel like all the dogs are huddled up, they have lots of space to run. The parking area is not fenced off and I've seen some dogs almost get hit by cars coming and going. read more

After working on recall with our pooch off and on over the summer and coming to trust him better off-leash, we decided to give Rocky Memorial another try. I'm glad we did. This time we opted to walk the perimeter of the park with our dog, who followed along, lagged behind, ran ahead, and took time to play with other dogs. Six slow laps around the park took us a little over a half hour, which (what with his running around and playing) was plenty of time for our dog to get nice and worn out. I do wish there was a better watering system, as some others have mentioned. Right now it's a series of buckets, and I couldn't see where they were filled. I also wish there was some fencing between the parking lot and the park. I was fairly anxious coming and going, what with all the excited dogs running around. From what we saw on our walk, the park is entirely fenced with the exception of over by the parking lot and the driveway where you come in. All in all, it's a great, close option for some off-leash time with our dog. read more

We have two non-aggressive medium sized dogs. I enjoy bringing them to Rocky. It's big enough that we can USUALLY keep away from annoying or impolite dogs. There are some, but we don't let it ruin the enjoyment of 8 acres of open, mostly fenced ground. We are able to keep our dogs under control enough to avoid the un-fenced entry area. We bring our own water so as not to be inconvenienced when the water is dirty. The water source (faucet) is near the entrance and the water needs to be carried a distance to where they water dogs. There is water though. It's a beautiful place to wander around on the circular paths with your dogs. Most people I've met are wonderful. Some, not so much. Just like life. We've come across a few un-neutered males, which are not allowed. When there is a problem we usually just leave. It is necessary to be careful with dogs running about as you enter and exit. Dog owners are usually helpful and if you drive slowly and watch, it's not a problem. People aren't very good at picking up after their dogs. Just do your part and a bit more if you are so inclined. I've seen people picking up extras, as we do. It's your karma!! read more

My dogs love it here! As indicated by the whining and barking as soon as we're at the stoplight. There is so much room for activities! They love running around the huge park and they most especially love pooping here. Definitely bring extra bags with you. There's no trees or shade and there's some scattered chairs but the dogs don't seem to mind. All that matters is how worn out they are. Which they always are. It's great. read more

Doggie heaven on earth, wide open spacing. Best for dogs who have a strong "come" or off leash manners. There is no strong fencing and would advise bringing doggie bags and water with bowl. Couple blocks over is a busy street so if your dog might bolt I wouldn't risk it. No separation between small and large dogs. This is a great park for dogs that just want to and love to run. The 9 acres are NOT fenced, so if you have any doubts, I wouldn't chance it. Large park over several acres overlooking the river. Only one bench and no shade. The park is grass and dirt and most suitable for large breeds and carefully supervised small dogs, who can be bowled over by the big ones. There are cans for waste disposal and bags for forgetful owners. The park provides a porta-potti and some water source, which dogs seem to share out of big buckets. Owners don't seem to be very knowledgeable, and most of them spend more time chatting or talking on their cells than supervising their dogs. But it's an outdoor space in which a dog can gallop around freely, and it cost nothing. read more

Although it's a beautiful setting with a large area for the dogs, the lack of fencing between the park and the parking lot creates a bad situation for arriving dogs, and when other dog owners are standing around oblivious when their dogs run over the the parking lot to see who just arrived, it's a recipe for disaster. We arrived yesterday with my 12-year-old dog, who was promptly attacked while we were still at the car by three large dogs whose owners were standing off in the grassy area chatting. I won't go back. There are too many people there who don't get proper ettiquette of not allowing your dog to run into the parking lot while new dogs are getting out of their cars. It was really disappointing to see so many irresponsible dog owners. read more

Wish some of the owners would pay more attention to their dog and be more polite to others. Many are inattentive and do not clean up after their dog's leavings. Others insist that all dogs play rough and when I stop playing fetch when a dog is trying to play aggressively with mine (which he does not like and gets defensive about being chased and nipped), they shouldn't call me rude and tell me I shouldn't even be at the park since I am not allowing him to play... [the way that they think he should play]. Other people great with their dogs, they pay attention to when a dog is not really clicking with another dog, and are respectful of other owners. The park is big and there is plenty of space for us all and all our different levels/types of play. Please be mindful that some dogs are more apprehensive and not comfortable with roughness. They may have arthritis (mine does), hip dysplasia, or another physical ailment not outwardly noticeable. read more
