If there was an option of providing Negative star I'd happily take that option. Firstly the service is bad, despite making an appointment I had to wait for atleast 45 minutes and secondly they are very UNETHICAL. I repeat very UNETHICAL. I had requested for a regular eye examination and paid for a regular visit, however, during my eye test the doctor (or whoever performed the test) asked me about how my vision was and during that time I happened to mention that I sometimes had blurry vision when I woke up in the morning (which wasn't anything important). Based on this information, Rocky Mountain Eye center took the privilege to recode the nature of my visit from a regular examination to a medical examination (which my insurance didn't cover) without my knowledge. They didn't provide any extra care/ service besides the freaking eye test that comes as a part of regular eye exam. However, a month later I received a hefty bill from them. Reasoning with their billing department was futile and their representatives were nothing but Rude. Now, they have asked me to pay my outstanding bill in Full to prevent proceedings from Collection agency. My kind suggestions for anyone looking forward for an eye treatment/ glasses, please stay away from this place. read more

Rocky Mountain Eye Center is the worst medical facility I have every been having to deal with. The staff and doctors are not patient oriented they are more money oriented. My wife had to go to this facility for Cataract surgery first thing my wife requested both eyes to be done together like I had with the VA. They told her that for safety reasons they could not do both at the same time. My question is if this procedure is so unsafe then why do they expose an unsafe operation twice raising the risk 2 fold. If both eyes are done together lowers the risk. I believe the only reason the will not do both at the same time this is all about money so they can charge for two procedures doubling the cost. This takes away another Veteran possible not being able to get need procedures because two surgery days also they also do not care that patient have to lose two days of work when one is all that is requireds. read more

So disappointed with this company, I've been going there for years. I made my appointment on the phone in June. The guy verified that they accepted my United Healthcare insurance but didn't verify it was under a Spectera policy. They ended up changing their acceptance on this particular coverage on July 1st from what the phone rep told me. So I went in and got my routine check-up but came to find out I had a $300 bill after everything because they didn't let me know that they did not accept my eye insurance anymore. I get it; I should have verified further on the insurance portion, but they didn't check or ask me if my policy was covered through spectera (since it's common with United healthcare policies). This made this experience a terrible one, and I will definitely be leaving and not recommending any of their locations again. Have better checks in balances for your customers. read more

Sitting in front of the wall honoring their Eye Care Providers and I noticed something I did not like... 14/17 of their doctors are WHITE MALES. 82% 2/17 of their doctors are WOMEN. 12% 2/17 of their doctors are people of color. 12% The Black and Hispanic community are not represented in these numbers at all. I support businesses that support and represent my community. Having a doctor my family can identify with is important to me. I'm not upset I'm angry. read more

My family has gone to Rocky Mountain Eye center for decades. We will not be returning. Between myself and my mother, three prescriptions for glasses in two years were incorrectly written. When the glasses were made the prescription was so far off it was not a simple error. In my opinion it was pure carelessness. Once is a mistake, twice is a pattern, and three times... there is no excuse that would be believed. Unfortunately, my experience was the opposite of their hyperbole. I was a patient of Dr. Psolka MD and his staff who evaluated my vision problems, made lens recommendations, and performed bilateral cataract surgery. (Note: Dr. Psolka no longer practices at RMEC.) Subsequently, my vision is significantly worse severely impacting my daily life. My attempts to fully discuss this with RMEC have been rebuffed. I recommend extreme caution not to be seduced by Rocky Mountain Eye Center's slick marketing and false promises. read more

I recently had an eye appointment at Rocky Mountain Eye Center and was told I have cataracts. I was then advised I needed to meet with a surgeon so he could tell me yes, I do have cataracts. I paid $35 co-pay for the eye appointment plus another $35 because I wanted contact lenses, then another $50 when I met with the surgeon. I was then told I needed to go to another office and have measurements done for another $50. Quite a racket they have going. There was no reason to have another appointment, it all should have been done when I met with the surgeon the first time. I was told in the first surgeon meeting that when my cataracts are removed, they will then put a replacement lens in that will correct my vision. I was super excited about that but not told that additional costs were involved. I then called my insurance company to get some pricing. I was told that if I wanted an upgraded lens, it would be extra and I would need to contact Rocky Mtn to find out costs, so I did. I was told it would be anywhere from $400 to $800 per eye. When I went in for the second visit with the surgeon to the tune of $50 I was then told I have astigmatism and the lens would now be over $1000.00. I figured that by the time I went in for the surgery it would be more like $3000 per eye just because I have blue eyes. I could not get a straight answer out of anyone on the final costs. After second appointment with surgeon, I left so upset that by the time I got home I called and cancelled my surgery. My feeling was I was just a dollar sign to them, they did not care that I was upset they were more concerned about the money. On top of ripping you off, they were extremely rude in both offices. I would not recommend this company. I would suggest you contact Sykline Vision (Peek Vision) as they give you all your information up front in one visit and everyone is very, very nice. Cathy at the front desk is horrible, rude, short and all together unpleasant. Met with the doctor, the process seemed very disorganized in and out of the room, appointment drug on forever. Was told that I needed to follow and when I went to reschedule with Cathy she asked what for and I told her and she again was snarky in response, stating she didn't see anything in the computer. You have to wait for prescription glasses, kids selection of glasses is abysmal. Went to pick up glasses 2 weeks later and had to wait again. Dr. Hellman is a miracle worker, literally. I am 78 years old and I had "droopy eye lids". My vision was cloudy, especially my left eye as it was the worse. Driving a car was getting to be an issue, same with prolonged reading. My eyes felt like they had something in them and friends said I looked tired. Then, on May 20, 2021, Dr. Hellman operated on both eyes and fixed my droopiness. My vision improved almost immediately. The cloudiness and eye irritation went away and I could finally see clearly. It has been just over a month since the operation, which was painless, my eyelids have been lifted up significantly and my vision is improved drastically. Not only that, but since Dr. Hellman removed the excess skin numerous comments about my youthful looking eyes keep coming in. Many people have stated that my eyelids are obviously improved. I wish I took before and after pictures...Dr. Hellman did take those pictures and I give him permission to use them any time he wishes. Made an appointment for an eye exam for new glasses and was told I need surgery for cataracts. I opted against, I asked for a prescription. The prescription was filled by another company and not even close to what I am currently wearing -- It said my left eye was better than what my then current prescription was. Obviously, I returned the glasses I bought when I couldn't see out of them. Went to a new optometrist who told me I had a MILD CONDITION of cataracts and wrote me a prescription for glasses that work. Be aware, if you ask too many questions regarding their procedures, you may receive the same letter I did about "mutual trust." I am so glad I did not work with this company and I wanted others to read the fine print. read more

Receptionist got me scheduled with a new doctor for that afternoon. left work early and had to pay my co pay only to be told that she doesn't do that procedure. So wasted my afternoon at work and my co pay all to just reschedule with a different doctor. Will go elsewhere next time. read more

If I could leave a negative star - I would I've sat on this for 48 hours before posting to remove 'emotions' FACTS Only *After going to the ER for a torn retina - the ER referred me to this business the next day for further treatment *Because I couldn't see and handle light, I had to have a friend drive me as well as to fill out paperwork *We were welcomed - wait no welcome at all, very rude intro !!!! My face was swollen/no make up - I believed because I looked like 'riff raff' and I was treated as such. *They kicked my friend out because her mask wasn't perfectly covering her nose (even though a medical conditioned allowed her to wear it but with adjustments). Therefore leaving me blind and on my own in the office/process *They rudely pointed me in a line to follow circles on the floor that I told them I couldn't see and was lead to a counter to fill paperwork out that I very clearly told them I couldn't do - they didn't care just made me struggle through it *They conveniently helped me sign the credit card receipt for the payment but nothing else *I was taken back by the only nice lady in my experience to this establishment and I thanked her for that and expressed my treatment thus far. She said "I'm sorry...." *The DR had no bedside manner at all - put drops in my eye and after screaming he said "oh that will sting...." *They forced my eye to open to use a piece of equipment that wouldn't work 9 TIMES caring nothing about the pain it was putting me in. The first lady said it was the equipment not working properly - the 2nd lady blamed it on me and my eye *After a very rough treatment/experience, I was pointed out of the room down a hall and brief instructions on how to leave. KNOWING FULL WELL I couldn't see This didn't care about anything other than my money! i was amazed how many people are unsatisfied with the care they received so i thought i would give a positive review because your eye sight is worth it and i have nothing but success with my dr's at rmec being a customer for at least 20 years. i found the best dr to take care of my vision, "his comment was i can help you improve your quality of life." i was sold get the cataracts removed no hesitation. i was one of the many children who has vision problems since birth. after my cataracts were removed new eyesight miraculous vision almost 20/20. just need reading glasses. i realize reviews are suggestive but my experience is real life changing. my dr anak shrestha is the best. thank you a very satisfied patient. read more

Rocky Mountain Eye Center treated me in the most unprofessional way.... They cannot get my glasses so where I can see clearly.... My last three prescriptions were way off and I could not see out of them.... They talked me into having cataract surgery, my lower eyelids repaired & my tear ducts unplugged.... After all those surgeries I still cannot see.... It did no good whatsoever.... I've seen every eye doctor there at Rocky Mountain Eye Center & a specialist in Colorado Springs.... Not one single one of the doctors ever asked me how much computer screen time I had everyday.... I will NEVER go back to RMEC ever again as I need an actual professional eye doctor to take care of my eyes, not the jokers at RMEC.... They charged me $360.00 for my current frames & I found the EXACT same frames from the manufacturer website for $64.00.... Is that high of a markup even legal ??? I would not recommend RMEC to my worst enemy !!! Save yourself time, money, and frustration and go somewhere else !!! I'd like to share my experience of Rocky Mountain Eye Center on Abriendo. I had a scheduled an eye exam on Thu. 8-6-20, which went well. The office was busy with 3 patients awaiting their scheduled eye exam, along with them was their mother. Then I arrived awaiting to check in. Dr. Smith provided me with the expected care and service I was seeking. Once my exam was completed I browsed the lobby for a pair of eyeglasses. Loretta helped me by jotting down the eyeglass code on a pair of Tom Ford glasses that I loved. I didn't have enough time to fully commit to my decision, as I needed to return to work. I mentioned to Loretta that I would need to come back and asked what their weekend hours were. She replied "This is actually the last weekend that we are open, reverting to Mon- Fri hours only". Bummer for me, since I am most available on the weekends. None the less, I asked her to jot down the codes on the pair of frames I favored. I returned to continue browsing on Wed. 8-12-20. I sacrificed my lunch hour to fulfill this errand and was accompanied by my spouse, who also left work to assist me. We arrived at the Abriendo office around 12:45pm. I was weary as I pulled into the desolate parking lot, afraid that they may be closed. When we entered the office the receptionist was occupied on a phone call. In no need of her assistance I walked straight to the showroom on a mission to continue my search for frames. She did not like this action, as she frowned and waved for me to come back to the front desk (still on the phone) demanding to take my temperature. At this time Loretta had come out of the back and said that they needed to check my temperature. I agreed, as this is procedure and has been in effect at my place of employment. Once we passed the temperature test, I once again headed back to the showroom to look at the remaining frames. Loretta asked if I had an appointment. I replied "No, I do need an exam. I just want to look at frames". She told me that I needed to schedule an appointment. I replied "For frames?" Loretta then made an attempt to control the me by telling saying "It's the law"! I responded to her demand "No, it is not". She continued to hold her ground "Yes, yes it is"! My spouse then replied "No... it is not a law". I shared with Loretta that I was there only a few days ago on the 6th with a scheduled appointment. I did not have time to complete browsing the selection. I have now returned on my lunch break as the hours of operation are not convenient with my schedule, being that you are not open on the weekends and I too work Mon-Fri 8-5 p.m! I continued to look at the selection of frames, being subjective to the snarls, glares and whispers of the receptionist and Loretta, who offended by the lack of gullibility refused to further assist me. Another gal came from the back and was much more pleasant and actually offered customer service. At this point I am extremely annoyed as I have been trying to conclude this errand for the past few days. When I was there only a few days prior and when mentioning I would have to come back to continue browsing, Loretta did not mention anything about the requirement of scheduling an appointment. In addition to my annoyance I was baffled that this woman would think of me to be as foolish! I completed browsing the selection of frames and stuck with my original pair - Tom Ford TF5546 priced at $445. My spouse shared his thoughts with me - They are overpriced and that I could find them somewhere else much less. I thought about this and agreed, however, I didn't want to spend more time in search of them elsewhere in addition to the time needed to create and fit them. Due to the crappy service received I did decide that I did NOT want to give them my business, thanked them all and left. I ended up going to my home city in Denver over the weekend to visit friends. During my visit I had the pleasure of great customer service at Pearl Vision on Arapahoe and University. There I purchased Ralph Lauren frames and lenses with premium anti reflective, a sunglasses clip and 1 year insurance plan totaling $719.90. read more

In mid-July 2012 I went to the Rocky Mountain Eye Center of Pueblo, CO (Montbello location) for shingles over my eye and double vision. I was not given a choice of which doctor, so my appointment was with Dr. Eric Blom. I did not have a good experience with this doctor. His bedside manner was even worse. The exam was minimal and poorly done. At one point he accused me of not telling the intake technician the symptoms I was having. He told another technician in the exam room, "See, they wait until I (emphasis on I) come in the room to tell me this!" When he put a paddle over each eye one at a time he told me I could not be seeing what I said I was seeing. When I tried to schedule a follow up appointment with a different doctor I was told this was not possible according to the clinic's policies. So I cancelled and found another eye doctor elsewhere. There is no information on their website as to the corporate structure (owners, office managers) other than an impersonal web form request. When I did request this info using the web form there was no response. My advice? Don't go to the Rocky Mountain Eye Center of Pueblo, CO. read more

I felt rushed when I was there and they didn't have time to help me. Their products are way too expensive for a low income/unemployed person to afford so I ordered glasses online which was 1/4 of their prices. Noticed that my new Rx was vastly different from my previous Rx, which was more accurate, but I needed a new glasses since my old ones were falling apart. When I got my new glasses, I had trouble reading through the bottom part of the progressives. When I called to get in to see if they can fix it, I was told to just up the add to +1.75 rather than come in and waste my time, which really meant wasting their time since I'm not employed and have plenty of time. So now I'm stuck with glasses that I struggle to read with and give me a headache because the RX is wrong. Conclusion: If you don't spend the ridiculous $400 for their overpriced frames and progressive lenses, they don't want to help you. I'll never go back to RMEC. read more

If I could give it less than one star I would. Every single time I have an appointment, I am waiting in the waiting room for over an hour before being called back, always with the same response of, "oh we are really behind, would you like to reschedule in 3 months?" Stop scheduling appointments you can't handle! Then, after a brief eye scan, I again sit in a waiting room for another hour waiting to talk to someone, who says I need to talk to the doc, so I again wait for another hour. I have never experienced such horribly run health care in all my life! This place is a joke. Find somewhere else unless you have all the time in the world or schedule the appointment for a day where you literally have nothing to do all day. read more

Do not offer them your medical insurance cards if you have separate vision insurance. They have "office procedures" that require billing medical insurance for certain services that are not covered under medical but would have been covered by vision. This means they get paid the full amount rather than the discounted rates insurance companies pay. All of this happened after I had to explain that my insurance has no co-pay and covers services other insurance doesn't. Just because its a bigger nicer building than others does NOT mean you get better service, it means they have to nickel and dime us to pay for it. read more

Do not use this Eye Center. Was treated poorly over the phone when they mistakenly canceled an appointment that my son had. But prior to that they scheduled me with a doctor who "didn't feel comfortable writing a prescription for glasses for my son because of his age", so we had to reschedule with a different doctor. When I spoke to the office manager on the phone when they canceled the second appointment she said she'd call me back and never did! Then once we had his glasses, something happened to the frames and they broke. We took them in and they were under warranty so they were supposed to order new frames and today I received a call stating his lenses were in and I could bring his frames in to get them put together. Well that is great... we didn't order lenses we ordered frames! I am over dealing with this place. Please don't waste your time. read more
