Carne Asada, pork, Carnitas, and white chick tacos

I first tried them at the Vail Village market over Labor Day weekend and then I had to stop again and go to their food truck in Minturn when I was passing through. Wow, these tacos are fantastic! And they're priced just right. I had the white chick, carne asada, and pork carnitas. The pork was my favorite, but they were all delicious. The chips and salsa were also fantastic. The chips were fried right then and there, so they were crispy and hot. It was the perfect September day to sit outside at their patio by the food truck and enjoy a great taco in the beautiful mountains of Colorado.

This review is for the Rocky Mountain Taco Trailer at the Vail Farmers Market. I was excited to try them out because of the many good review. In all honesty the tacos where garbage, had a bite of each and put them in the trash. Carney Asada: the meat was closer to mush than nice diced steak, the texture reminded me of a can of roast beef hash. The flavor was very bland, the avocado covered up the beef. I added some of their spicy salsa on my second bite and it did not help much. I think the biggest issue with the taco was probably the texture of the meat. Hippie Crack: Couple of issues. They do not double the corn tortilla so this was busted right out the gate, could not even pick it up without most the filling falling on the plate. The filling reminded me a Taco Bell Burrito, just a mush of bland babyfood. I hate to be this negative in a review, but it is a rare occasion that I would throw a taco away without finishing it, especially when I was hungry. I am not sure if the other locations food is this bad or it was just this one off trailer. Cannot recommend or return.

Yum!! So delicious!! We went to the Rocky Mountain Taco food truck that is parked at the main location for Vail Brewing Company (41290 US. HWY. 6). **This is different than the "tasting room" in Vail Village. It's about a 5-10 min drive away and worth it!! There is not a food truck at the tasting room.** Food was delicious (especially the carne asada!!) Grabbed a few delicious beers from the brewery to have with our meal and enjoyed some live music at the brewery on a Thursday night. Highly recommend!

Hooray for bomb Mexican food in Avon Colorado!!!! (Bows down and goes into Wayne's World monologue) "We're not worthy! We're not worthy!" We were so excited to find that the taco truck was nearby our lodge. Just down the street, we found Rocky Mountain Taco truck. The smell coming from the truck was a good enough indication that we had made a great choice. Roll up, order, grab and go! Easy and hella cheap. Can't go wrong there. Two tacos for $5. We were super excited because they offered vegetarian tacos as well. Yay! Carnivores and vegetarians were happy after this stop. The vegetarian tacos were potatoes with sauce and veggies. Regular tacos had carne asada. We also ordered cheese quesadillas and those came with two different cheese (cheddar and mozzarella). The dillas were bomb!! Perfect place for a quick, cheap and tasty meal.

After a full half-day of skiing in Vail (meaning, we started with first chair, quit before one, but still got almost 19,000 verticals in), led by our friend John, who lives in Edwards and knows Vail (and BC) like the back of his hand, we were ready for some grub and grog. This is one of those off-the-beaten-path food trucks that only locals know, paired with Vail Brewing Company for a symbiotic set-up (grub-grog), but it is separate, outside of VBC in the parking lot, in a truck. To order, you go outside of VBC and walk up to the window to place your order (thank goodness it's not cash only), and they give you a buzzer to let you know when to pick up. There are a variety of sauces you can help yourself to when you pick up the food. I went with 3 tacos (see photo - the carne asada, alambre, and hippie crack, which is vegetarian); it was about the 'right' amount of food (the reason I'm able to lose weight on this 10-day ski trip!), but look out if you ordered the tacos - TWO people eating it will still pack on the pounds even after a hard day of schussing. Will likely return if we're out this way again.

This place is so Delicious! Every time I'm in Vail I head over to Rocky Mountain Taco at the Vail Brewery location. There is always a line but I appreciate that line because it is a telltale sign of how good the food is. I'm vegetarian and I love the hippie crack. What takes this food to the next level is the habanero Crema sauce. That sauce is so good I could drink the entire bottle. I wish they sold the sauce in jars so I could take it home. The people who run this taco truck are good people. I witnessed them host a charity event along with the brewery and the turnout was unbelievable. Again, good people serving great food is rare and refreshing to find especially in a little mountain town. Keep doing what your doing!

Good tacos, great spot in between Vail Brewing Company and Native Roots dispensary. These guys must sell millions of tacos at this spot. We tried 2 of their street tacos and both were really good. I had the hippy chick and my wife had the white chick. Neither were spicy which is good for us. Overall this is a cool spot outside of Vail to grab a quick bite (and a beer at VBC). read more

3 Hippie Tacos PLZ !!!!!! I made my best friend drive 11 minutes down I-70 in the opposite direction just to get a taste. Neither of us regretted it. In fact these were the best vegan tacos either of us have ever had the privilege of tasting. Sooo savory with beautiful pops of freshness. Only thing we'd add? Corn. Fuck me up. ¡Delicioso! I must have said this three times when I enjoyed some of the best tacos that I have tried. After a fellow foodie and family friend recently tried this taco food truck, I knew that I needed to get my paws on it. The only problem was is that I live in Chicago and the food truck is in Vail... No worries man because I had to go to a wedding in Vail which meant tacos tacos tacos!! I am not the biggest taco eater but you can tell from recent reviews that I have been on a taco binge. I mean who doesn't love finger foods that are quickly prepared, usually tasty, and come at a low cost?! Sounds like a perfect dining experience to me! Walking into the Minturn Market I was bombarded by all of the delicious food options and a plethora of free samples. Does life get any better than that? Oh yes it does... as I was getting a good buzz from the first 10 food samples, I turned the corner and heard an angel aka my Mom say that here is the food truck that you have been looking for. My jaw dropped and I screamed hallelujah! The dudes that ran the truck are definitely cool and know their way to delivering delicious flavor combinations. There are 5 sauces to try from too which is always fun and adds diversity to your simple taco. I walked up to the truck and there were only a few options for tacos but of course I was stuck on 2-3 so I asked and was given a large sample of the melt in your mouth Steak. That was a no brained for my first taco that I ordered and I decided to pair that with the shredded pork. This was definitely a win/win combination and decision on my part and for my belly. I am so happy that on top of having a very fun time at the market, I got to enjoy the best tacos in Vail!! read more

Delicious tacos, but unfortunately our experience was absolutely ruined by an employee working in the truck. The lady taking orders was extremely rude, dismissive and unhelpful. When I asked for two habanero cremas and one chipotle crema, she handed me two cremas that looked identical. I then asked if one was chipotle. She passive aggressively grabbed a third crema and wrote a C on it and then slid it across the truck to me. She didn't even say a word. We watched her yell at an old woman with a mask on "MISS YOU NEED TO TALK LOUDER I CANT HEAR YOU!!!" As we were leaving the patio (mind you we wanted to order more food, but didn't because we didn't want to deal with the rude employee again) I went and told her how rude she was to me and all my friends. She said I have to understand that she's really busy, her tone comes off as rude and she's been dealing with a lot. I said I get it, but all we were asking for was a bare minimum of kindness and respect. She again said she was very busy and I had to understand what she was dealing with back there. She didn't say sorry or apologize once. I just had to understand her point of view. I once again said I get it but she's in the service industry and there's no excuse for being explicitly rude to customers. At that point she essentially burst out in anger, came out through the window of the truck and yelled "IF YOU GET IT, THEN CUT ME SOME SLACK!!!!!!!!" In front of the entire patio and all the customers. At that point I just walked away. read more

Wow what great little taco place - the corn tortillas were hot and tasted great. I had carnitas and a steak carne asada/bacon/cheese tacos and the meat was so flavorful and tender. Added chipotle salsa and habanero salsa and they added a nice kick to the tacos. read more

They were out of potatoes, which is hard to understand if this is their best selling taco. Their "carne asada" (grilled steak, labeled in English and Spanish) is actually hamburger meat (carne molida). So, essentially, the steak tacos are ground beef tacos, a la Taco Bell. So much for the world's most best tacos. They're about as good as their grammar. read more

The ambience was great for a "hole in the wall" vibe. They had four or five tables at most. But this place was LEGIT! We all had the street tacos with Carne Asada. So freakin' phenomenal! The salsa were on point! I felt like we were back in Baja California. While still enjoying the beauty of the mountains of Colorado. It's a win-win for sure! We asked the guy working that day with their name meant and the answer they gave us didn't make sense. I think they were trying to be nice. I don't care what the name means. The food is RIDICULOUSLY GOOD!

I would eat a plateful of their pork carnitas tacos paired with chips and guac twice a day if I thought my metabolism could handle it. Top off the tacos with a generous squirt of their magical hot sour cream, and you're golden. I also love the staff's non-corporate and easygoing vibe, which is rare in "New Vail" these days. read more
