We made a reservation and that was a smart thing to do, cause even on a wednesday night the place was stuffed. A nice cosy but bright trendy athmosphere. Not too noisy, great Italian music, old black and white movies projected on the wall. It all gives the place an athomosphere of its own. The real Italian pizzaioli working hard in the kitchen, but enjoying their music in the meantime. We had to wait a bit too long for our antipasti and that is the only minor thing. The quality of the food is really good. Pure, fresh and real Italian style. We had some bruschetta and pecorino, olives and sausage to start with. After that we shared two pizza's that both tasted so nice, that I actually believe we chose the best two of the menu. I guess I have to come back a few more times to test my hypothesis. It is actually a real pizza restaurant. They serve some antipasti, some salads, focaccia's and a lasagna or vegetarian dish with aubergine, and offcourse some desserts that sounded promising, but unfortunately I could not handle that anymore. But when it comes to pizzas they have some nice choices. We had one with truffle, rucola, pecorino and a nice Italian meat. The other one was also a real treat with home made Italian sausage and fungi porcini. Of course with a Montepulciano wine to accompany all this. I am sure I will come here another time. There's seating outside, great with this summer weather! The restaurant is located in the middle of Bunnik, a cute small town near Utrecht. It's perfect to combine a long walk in Amelisweerd / Rhijnauwen with having dinner in Wapen Van Bunnik. It's something my dad and I have been doing for years. The outdoor seating area is located partly outside, partly underneath a roof, so it's possible to remain dry in case of bad weather. The inside is decorated with dark wood. It's possible to eat at the bar, which we occasionally like to do. Staff is very friendly and caring. Although it was very sunny yesterday, a breeze came up and I got cold in my sleeveless top. I asked to be seated inside, and instead, they put the outside heater on for me, because we would be the only one's seated inside if we choose to do so. The staff thought that would be a little disheartening, so started the heater for me. Ok, maybe not a very ecological solution, but it was so kind of them! And next time, I'll bring my sweater. We came for lunch. I had the tuna burger, our friends had salads, omelets and friend shrimp rolls. (what's the term for "kroketten" in English? Crockets?) It was good and tasty but not very special. We came back later for some drinks and the serving girls were a little rude to us. I asked if we could sit anywhere, and she'd say yes, even when a table was reserved. Her colleague appeared later and scolded us for sitting at a reserved table. I tried to explain that her colleague told us it was ok and made some joke about something and they both kind of reacted sour to us. Maybe they had a tough day, but hey, it wasn't our fault was it? And there was plenty of seating still left, we only wanted a drink and play a game, so we would be gone in time before dinner anyway. That kind of dampend the whole experience. I would like to try out their evening menu though. Hope the girls are a little more in a good mood that day ;) maybe pregnant ladies piss them off, I have no idea :D The play yard is nice though. They don't serve there, but they have a tiny take away place for ice scream and fries, which worked fine for us!

The staff is very attentive playing close attention to detail. 2. The atmosphere here is conducive to long leisurely dinners. Even when all the tables were full it was easy to carry on a conversation. They have done a nice job placing the tables so you do not feel crowded. 3. The food is incredible. The duck salad was a bed of greens with duck and hazel nuts. This is a substantial starter. The garlic soup looked delicious. I had a moment of food envy when I saw it. Unfortunately this was a business dinner so I could not grab some of it. All the dinners looked fantastic. The most incredible dinner was a flat fish on a large platter. My dinner was a white fish with mozzarella on a bed of mashed potatoes. It was one of the best dinners I have ever eaten. Deserts are generous to say the least. (I did not have any desert. I was done by then). This was one of the best restaurants I have eaten at in years. Fortunately I am in Holland frequently so I will most certainly be back here for dinner.
