Had a wonderful time with the family in this gorgeous side of Klamath Falls, Oregon! We wanted to do both kayaking and zip lining but free from tours and practically do our own kayaking. We decided to purchase them separately - 3-hour tandem kayaking (2 people in 1 kayak) for one day and zip lining for the following day. Unlike some people, we're not super fit individuals so, for us, it was a great idea to separate the 2 activities and get some rest and recuperation in between. The 3-hour kayaking was fantastic with gorgeous views all around. Contrary to what other bad reviews experienced... maybe things have been changed since then? Anyways, from my experience the process was rather simple and painless. The meeting point was clear in the email and a text message with a link to fill out waivers for each party member was very, very simple to complete and submit. Email confirmations were received just in case I needed to show proof of waiver completions. The staff drove the 2 tandem kayaks (family of 4) to the drop off point not far from their base. We requested for life vests but after seeing how deep the water is in the lake, it definitely wasn't needed at all. It's practically shallow throughout the lake EXCEPT for the drop off point. We know how to swim too so really, the life vests aren't necessary if you know how to swim (or stand/float in 2-3 feet depths). We made a right from the drop off point and found an opening for pathway between the bushes - LOOONG kayaking path we came across but definitely worth the view, peace, tranquility, and workout! We eventually found our way out but if you plan to have the kayaks for 3 hours max, you may not want to take the inner pathways and just enjoy the open lake otherwise try to keep a good pace throughout the inner path. Very fun experience. The next day we decided to do the zip lining (Crater Lake Ziplining) and with Ethan and Shiloh as our guides/instructors, we had tons of fun! The zip lining adventure involves learning the basics for safety purposes (which they go through with you thoroughly and even have you try it out before live action), no pressure in case you want to back out, no tolerance for anything unsafe (like unhooking your line - just don't do it!), a few great and long lines to zip through, a couple of drops to make you feel like an assassin super star in an action movie, and wonderful group people to enjoy this activity with! Makes sure you purchase the photo package towards the end to capture all of your fun moments. I do admit the prices are a bit high compared to some places I've been to, but then again the scenery wasn't quite as beautiful as the surroundings in Klamath Falls. So all in all, I'd say worth the price tag that comes with it. Highly recommended - a MUST if you plan to stop by or pass through Klamath Falls. Be sure to use Bug Spray before you go! read more

We shot ducks and geese at Klamath refuge with Mr. Roe. He did show up promptly and to be fair, it did freeze overnight, which made the hunting challenging. This is NOT a review about the hunting success, since that is always subject to issues that are often beyond the guide's control. However, Mr. Roe was not very friendly, seemed more interested in getting us out and back as quickly as possible and getting paid in full. We had two experienced hunters and one novice with us and Mr. Roe was just not very friendly and actually ridiculed a mistake by the novice hunter (dropped some shells in the boat, making a loud noise that scared some geese away). Overall, just not a positive experience. Other guide services we have used were more congenial, more encouraging, teaching and providing local hunting tips (we were visiting from California). We hardly shot any birds, but again, that's not all Mr. Roe's fault. But when we left the hunt, I was hoping that we would get some sort of consideration, something like "Come on back up and get 10% off your next hunt since this one was not that good for you" - something to leave us with a positive taste in our mouth. Daren the owner of Roe Outfitters is not a man of his word. He guarantees when he takes people out to hunt on your property for the ground squirrels that if any damage occurs such as bullet holes in your pipes, or any irrigation equipment it will be taken care of immediately. I had to pay for the bullet hole damage myself from his shooters, and when i informed him of the damage his response was WOW. He even had been caught on the property without prior permission hunting with his clients. When i approached him about some kind of consideration for me alloying him to hunt my property i.e.. a fishing trip etc. he was reluctant to do so, but after pursuing it he finally said ok. So when i contacted him to ask when the fishing trip would happen it was a different story all together. Bottom line the Fishing trip promised by Mr. Roe NEVER HAPPENED...........VERY DISAPPOINTED IN HIS CONDUCT NOT BUSINESS LIKE AT ALL....WOULD NOT RECOMMEND HIS SERVICES..... read more

I normally don't bother with reviews but this one i had to do. Let me start by saying myself and my 2 friends are very experienced varmint hunters. Because of the lead ban in California we decided to book a 2 varmint shoot in Oregon. The cost was a little over 1,200,00 for a 2 day shoot. The experience started Friday afternoon when Joe our guide called me to make arraignments to mea Saturday morning. One of the first things out of his mouth was ( WOULD WE LIKE TO GO SHOOT SQUIRRELS IN CALIFORNIA? obliviously I said no. So we meet at Home Depot at 7:30 Sat morning. we proceeded to drive about 45 mins to this almost barren field right up against the base or the mountains. Obliviously this was not an alfalfa field. The first thing we noticed was that there was no mounds holes or anything to support 3 shooters. we left and went to another field which was a cattle grazing field. Joe made it clear that we would have a narrow field to shoot. Again no mounds or holes to support the fact that he states this is one of his Honey Holes. We did not shoot at all there, Joe made a phone call and made arrangements to meet a new farmer and discuss shooting his property. Joe new we were very disappointed and apologized. He suggested we call Daron and ask for a refund. So I did and Darren first remarks were he was going to terminate Joe on the spot. Then he proceeded to insinuate that I was lying and Joe would never make that statement. To sum this up we shot 6 squirrels in 3 different fields. Definitely nothing close to the website telling you plan on 500 rounds per day. We opted out of Sundays shoot. We did not want to have another frustrating day. Joe told us Sat that we had already seen his Honey Holes. It turns out that there are only 2 guides for varmint shooting. Joe had only been with Roe for about 3 weeks per his own statement. Roe books the clients and loans the trailers and shooting benches to the 2 guides. Then they are responsible for the clients shoots. This hole ordeal is a very pathetic way to run a business. The only way that any of their clients can shoot any amount of squirrels is by going into Dorris California. I know this because that is where we normally go and yes it is possible to go thru 500 rounds per day. I would strongly recommend that you avoid this company and all their various guide services. This is a Pathetic business. In my opinion Daron is not a truthful person and I would never recommend this business for any thing. Ken read more

DO NOT USE!!!!!!!!!!! went squirrel shooting and it was the worst experience ever. They lead us to believe that we should bring at least 500 rounds per man per day. They wanted us to go to California to hunt. We are from California and shoot it all the time. WE did not bring the new copper ammo that is required in Ca and we could have shot there for free.The fields they took us to had very few if any mounds and few to none squirrels. Very unprofessional and the owner tried to make it our problem and offered no solution or refund. The misrepresentation and bull**** was more than we could stand. Great experience! My dad and I go hunting/fishing once a year (more if we can manage it), and thus have lots of experience with guided trips. Darren knows his stuff, had access to lots of great hunting grounds, and was really fun to be around. He (and Tom, his assistant) were well prepared for both our duck hunt and our 2 days of hunting Mountain and Valley Quail. The dogs were well trained, the scenery was beautiful, and the hunt was fun. I felt that Roe Outfitters was a good choice for our trip, and will hopefully be able to get away to do some fly fishing soon! read more

Will never book again with ROE Outfitters and advise others to do the same. We had three good/great experiences with ROE prior to 2019 but this year Darren left town, didn't have an actual back up guide in his absence, kept us booked, and passed us off to a kid that was in no way a guide with no direction or assistance from Darren other than loaning the "guide" Darren's trailer/gear and giving the "guide" direction to "don't *expletive* up my decoys". 2016:Booked a hunt with ROE and Darren called it off a couple weeks prior to the hunt because the birds weren't there(we appreciated it and what he should have done in 2019), 2017:Had a great hunting experience with ROE, harvested over 60 geese in two days (Darren wasn't the guide), 2018: Had a great hunting experience with ROE, harvested 5 geese in two days (Darren wasn't the guide), 2019 - See Below: 10.07.18 - Booked a Two Day Guided Goose Hunt for Four on 02.28 and 03.01 02.22.19 - Emailed Darren prep questions 02.22.19 - Darren's sons basketball team advances to the state playoffs 6 Hours Outside of Klamath Falls with Games starting on 02.27 02.23.19 - Darren Replied to the email and gave us no indication that he was going to be leaving town and wouldn't be our guide 02.28.19 - "Guide" and "Hunt" Darren Delivered: - "Guide" was a year or two out of high school, only goose hunt guiding experience was 2-3 days earlier when he took a previous group out for Darren who had already left town for the Basketball Playoffs, was an employee and family friend of Darren who had done some fishing guiding for Darren in the past year, did not have or know how to operate a goose call, had never accompanied or been trained by Darren in any way for goose hunting - "hunt" equated to sitting on the edge of a bogged field, no dog, no calls, decoy spread limited by not being able to walk out into the bogged field more than 10 yards, During/after the hunt the kid/"guide" was uneasy and ultimately after gathering all of the information we felt bad for the kid who shouldn't have accepted the assignment but was influenced by his employer and family friend to take on a job he was in no way qualified to do. Sadly disappointed! Two stars because you're nice though. Although everyone was kind from the moment we met them, we ended up booking a guided kayak tour for $150.00 more than we otherwise should have paid. The other, cheaper option would have been better for us, which was to have them deliver kayaks/gear to the water and we take a self-guided tour. $150 (plus a cash tip) cheaper! So...The guide chose to wait for 5 other people, whose tardiness made us an hour late into our trip! Yes, we actually did have somewhere to be afterwards and no we were not asked if starting an hour late would be ok. Then, the group was so big, we couldn't see nor hear the guide while on the water. He led, and we were told to follow single file paddling behind. You do the math, with 10+/- boats on the water...No need for a guide! We were even more disappointed after calling to explain the experience and situation and then ask for even a small refund, split the difference, perhaps? We did not need the guide, after all, and ended up missing our next event that day given they made us an hour late. The answer was sorry, and no! Wow! A redeemed customer experience is more important than $75-$100, no? Clearly this is business as usual for ROE? The Kayaks and equipment were in good shape (note, you will help to heave them off the truck and in and out of the water), but the place we were taken to at Klamath lake was more like a channel surrounded by lily pads. No open lake paddling, or even views. No $150+ guide needed, as you can't get lost. One narrow path through lots of grassy water, turn around, and take that path back. Ugh. Thank you for being nice people, ROE Outfitters, but I could not recommend ROE to anyone, sadly. An overall unsatisfying experience for our family. read more

A few friends of mine and I hunted geese with this guy a few years ago. The hunting was good. We are all experienced hunters and knew how to place a set up and call. Can't give all credit to mr Roe but we did have a good hunt. The reason he gets one star is because he is pushy, unfriendly , with a poor attitude, yells at his clients like children for not handling his decoys the way he wants and worse of all: He lifted his Chesapeake bay retriever off the ground by her ears for busting out of the blind early. Not an ear tug or a grab, HE LIFTED THE 85lbs dog 4 FEET OF THE GROUND BY HER EARS!!!!!! Pay attention here ok... he didn't lift her by her head or her neck.,..HE PICKED HER UP BY HER EARS!!! Try to imagine being picked off the ground and hung for 10 seconds by your ears then slammed into a blind on frozen ice. I turned around to see it when I heard the dog wailing in agony to see this asshole with an ear in each hand ,holding his dog in the air at eye level then slam her back into the blind. I've never heard a dog wale like that in shear agony then Yipe when she hit the ground and cower. When I complained, he tried to give me some BS about an ear tug discipline technique but I'm telling you this dog was hanging by her ears with her back feet two feet off the ground. This was no technique, just good old fashioned animal abuse fueled by his own rage. Plain and simple. I don't need to hunt with anyone like that and you shouldn't either. There are too many good people to hunt with that respect their clients and treat their animals with love and respect . I've often thought about that day and what I should have done differently. I'd love a time machine, I guarantee he wouldn't have thumbs to hold a set of ears with again. This guy is an angry , arrogant and greedy POS! read more

Negligence-Not My Problem aka Roe Outfitters Review I cannot recommend Roe Outfitters (Klamath Falls, OR) to anyone, due to the fact that my custom made rod & Ross reel were severely damaged by the negligence of the Guide. The owner of Roe Outfitters would not accept any of the responsibility for the $500 plus in damage incurred to me. Despite the negligence of his employee the owner felt the 'liability release' absolved him of any/all responsibility. From my perspective this was a shocking end to our trip. Knowing how important a shop's reputation is I was taken aback (not to mention the extra cost) by the owner's attitude. Perhaps his customer base is so large that his personal reputation is not important to him. read more

Arrogant Ripoff. Three of my buddies and I have fished all over the western US, and we chose ROE on the recommendation of a friend for the 32nd annual outing. We have fished a LOT of rivers with a LOT of guides. This was one of the worst experiences. 1) When we show up the first morning, he proceeds to insist that we buy not only his overpriced fluoro leader and tippet, but also two boxes of flies for each boat, XL thingamabobbers, etc. $418 before we make it out of the shop in the morning (On top of the float charges, mind you). Second day, he tells us we have to buy more flies, and I say "But you are going to buy back what we don't use, right?" He laughs it off. Another $108. He hot-footed it home before we were all back at the shop the next day, so we each took home about 25 flies. 2) We floated the Keno stretch of the Klamath. OK, but the deal we made when we booked was that we would fish Keno on day one, and decide if we wanted to go back or fish somewhere else on day 2 (like the Williamson). When we mentioned this to him on day one, he said "Well lets settle that right now: we're coming back here." Zero client skills. 3) Lunches: Sucked the first day, average day 2. I think he makes the kids he hires as guides buy the lunches. 4) The river was low, and the last half mile you cant fish, because the guide is in and out of the raft dragging it over rocks. Really unhappy about the strongarm and arrogance. Wont be back, and don't recommend it to others. read more

My wife purchased a gift certificate for me for a one-day waterfowl hunting trip with Roe Outfitters. I waited over a year to book the trip, and even though my gift certificate expired after one year, they honored it without hesitation. I booked a trip for mid-January towards the tail end of the season. Unfortunately, by the time my trip rolled around, Klamath Falls had been in a deep freeze for several weeks. The day of the hunt it was -2 degrees. Not only did we not shoot anything, we maybe saw 12 geese the entire day, which was disappointing to say the least especially since it was my first time out. To their credit, Darren and his associate guide Rich really tried hard to get us to the birds, but they just weren't there. At the end of the day, Darren was extremely apologetic, and offered a comped day trip to both myself and my hunting partner to make up for our bad luck. I did not expect this at all, as I understand that sometimes the birds just don't fly and luck is all a part of the sport. I booked the make-up trip for the last weekend of the season. We had a fairly large group and I was paired up with Rich most of the time, which was great because he was a blast to hunt with, and very knowledgeable as well. The birds were in the air and Darren had us right in the fly zone. Our group shot several dozen snow geese, speckled belly geese, and I even shot a rare blue phase snow goose. I couldn't have imagined a better trip. Not only do I now have a passion for the sport, but I will gladly make the 3+ hour drive down to Klamath Falls just to hunt with Darren and Rich. Note, this is not a luxury guide service. You will be asked to get up really early, setup decoys, haul gear, assist the guides, handle your own equipment, know what you are doing, etc. This was great for me as a novice because I got to learn a lot about the process instead of just being handed a gun and told when to shoot. If you want a guide who holds your hand and has hot chocolate waiting for you in the blind, look elsewhere, but if you want professionals who know that they are doing, book with Roe. Roe Outfitters doesn't earn five stars because they gave me a free hunting trip, they earn five stars because they are experienced, knowledgeable, and are willing to take care of their clients.
