Over the past several years our family has fished with Mario and every trip has been a great one. We have had groups as large as 10 people and Mario has always put together talented, fun and patient guides. This year we had planned to fish the Happy Camp run. The river was blown out and instead of cancelling our trip, on very short notice, Mario was able to coordinate with our other guides a run East of the Scott River. This added over a hour each way to his travel time. We had a great day and caught a lot of nice steelhead. His effort to get our family on the river was very much appreciated. For a great day of fishing we would recommend booking a date with Mario, Iron Head Guide Service. Pete Deterding

Guide contacted me 3 days before I arrived in "Happy Camp" (misnomer) to say it was blown out and we should cancel the trip. Agree'd. Wrote the owner Mario couple days later asking for return on 100.00 deposit, said no problem. Returned from trip, 2 weeks later no return check, fine. Asked again. Today received 75 dollar money order from him, through the Postal Service (costs 1.75 for money order). Not said 25 dollar processing fee. Total bullshit, bad form and amateur. Will report to BBB and local town. Amateur for sure.

My cousin and I found the honey hole on the Sacramento Point that Bob told us about. We slayed them just like he told us we would. Trolling for trout has never been so much fun for me or my cousin. We know how to use our down riggers. We know how to set up the lines. We didn't know where the fish were. That was until we met Bob Telles of The Reel Thing. I came across The Reel Thing July 27, 2016. My cousin and I had just pulled the boat up into the shade so we could start prepping it for the week ahead of fishing. Shortly after we began our setup a gentleman came down the hill in a golf cart. He circled around the boat and asked, "Are you guys going to be here long?" We replied with a friendly no. The next thing you know this gentleman introduced himself as Bob and began telling us about the fish. Bob gave my cousin and I so much detailed information our brains almost exploded. Bob then let it be known he is a guide on Shasta and has many years on Shasta and other lakes. Bob's friendly demeanor and willingness to provide so much information to non paying people was so amazing. He was not trying to sell us a guided trip. He didn't tell us to get off his lake. He told us that he loves giving out the information because it is what he loves to do. Put people on the fish! Bob Telles put us on the fish alright. I am going to be going back to Shasta as I do every year, however this next time I am going out on Bob's boat and going to "Come Fish The Reel Thing" with my family. Give Bob a call.
