I am a previous employee of Hughes insurance and have had my taxes filed here on several occasions…read more After I left I continued to file here for 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021. I was always treated fairly and the fees were acceptable. For 2018 I was charged $50, 2019 $150, and without being told until the filing was complete $550!!! Now my taxes are simple, straight forward and only one w2. Granted he filed both years of 20 & 21 for me this year but I figured around $300, $150 for each year. So after I realize what I was actually charged I asked for an explanation as to why so much! No answer. Mind you I had referred my in-laws there, who do have more in depth returns and were only charged yet again $100. They make much more money than my husband and I and were charged $450 less. I felt I was owed an explanation and $250 of my money back. I was told they raised their rates. We were not only not told this until AFTER the filing was done, but he did not raise them for my parents. At this point I felt wronged and taken advantage of and asked for a return of $250 as I was told each filing was $200. So to charge is $550 made no sense. I also was charged $150 for filing the year of 2019 specifically because I thought I had to in order to receive my stimulus and found out I never had to file that year in order to get it. I had no w2 as I did not work but my money was taken anyway. I emailed the business asking for my money back and instead of the tax filers answering me it was passed off to his receptionist. He returned a partial amount but not the full amount we were owed. And then never answered me again after. I have my insurance there and additionally I have referred me not only my in-laws there for both insurance and tax filing but several others, as I thought they were fair. No credit for that at all. I am removing my insurance policy, as they do not deserve commission from that and will never go back there for taxes as well as my in laws and everyone else I have referred there over the years. I don't recommend anyone go for taxes/insurance. They do not schedule appointments so you could be sitting there for hours, or a client will be told to come in and the tax preparer leaves! No regard for his clients. You may be told you can drop off your w2's so you don't have to wait and they get buried and forgotten about. It is completely unprofessional. Go to a person who takes their job seriously and makes you feel that you are valued. Hughes insurance is not the place for that.
