Uneven and unmaintained so find a map online for best results. Bring water, bring Fido, dress for the weather and pack out your trash. The views and slot canyon are worth it!

The hike, in general, is excellent. You see a little river, go under tunnels, and hike up a small hill. There is enough nature to look around rather than just dirt and rocks because we are in a desert. Not too many people around either, which is nice, that it isn't too crowded. Unfortunately, I did not see any owls. Lastly, you do have to pay an entrance fee to come inside, I believe it was 20. Overall, the hike was easy, and I would come back.

Hiking wise, there are 3 entrance paths that enter into a gravelled open area that was unclear of where it would end up. Pretty much turning left or right, you kind of loop back to the parking lot from that gravel area.

Now there's a large parking lot with several picnic tables and benches and bathroom facilities. The tables are mostly shaded but that depends on the sun and the time of year. It was a pleasant place to spend our after hike time and plan our hike for next week. There are two trails leading from the parking area. One of them splits into a third and they end at an unpaved trail that is the south section of the Wetlands Park Loop Trail. You can take any of these trails from the picnic area to the Nature Center at the Wetlands Park and then come back here for a picnic. It would be a nice family outing!

I…read morehave driven through the Lakes when I've taken out of town freinds to see water in the desert which always impresses them. I first went to park at the Lake Sahara South Park, but the area is shut with a gate. I drove around and parked at the tennis courts area which appeared to be closed. I started walking west on the sidewalk to Crystal Water Way. I realized there that the fitness trail crosses to the west side of the street where there is a sidewalk. I walked along here for a while until I saw the first chance to get a glimpse of the lake. I crossed Crystal Water and stepped over a low wall to a fence where I got a good view of one of the side inlets of the lake. Along the section I walked on the sidewalk, there are a number of exercise machines and some benches to rest and enjoy the pleasant weather--which wasn't yesterday--it was quite windy and there were some sprinkles. Once I had crossed the street, I walked along the curb. The nice thing about the community is the streets are only two lanes when they could be four. This allows for a bicycle path on each side of the street and parking areas between the bike path and the curb. This is where I did the rest of the walk and where most people were walking. When you get to the roundabout, this is where you turn--the direction depending on doing the loop clockwise or counter-clockwise. In a short distance after the roundabout, I came to the Lake Sahara South Park. It had been open for parking, but the gate was closed and locked. You can walk in the park and get a good view of the main section of Lake Sahara. From here, it was just a process of finishing the 2 mile loop. I did take a detour in the small area where I've eaten in three of the restaurants. A note about parking--I'm not sure how much is allowed along the streets. I parked at the tennis courts. They appeared closed and the spaces were empty except for mine. Across Lake East Drive from the tennis court is a large parking area that is not being used. It was the home of a credit card processing center and it closed years ago and there are many dozens of places to park although it's private property. Do not park in the small retail area. parking is at a premium and is unfair to the businesses. This is a pleasant loop with an elevation change of about 40 feet so it's basically flat. Enjoy!

We were lucky enough to spot a bighorn sheep in the distance at the very top of one of the mountains! Wear hiking shoes for the rocky terrain and a hat for the no shade. Recommend to start early at 8 am min. if you do the whole loop. It's cool to see all the Petroglyphs! There's not a lot but enough on the walls in a certain section of the trail.

Lots of things changed at home. One needs to get back and kin with nature. Being out side is where "one" feels most alive . It's time to start a new journey and chapter of change in life. This particular piece of protected land is located in my backyard, per say . One might ask, hiking trails that are in the desert. Why would one even consider hiking here? It's too hot! It's just dust and rocks! Why? Actually, at one time this was a thriving community, it's a protected community for all to enjoy and come see petroglyphs from Ancient individuals that once called this area home. This area in an inactive volcanic region. It's dormant for now. In the after effects of a volcano eruption or activity it leaves fertile soil that can yield lots of crops with little effort. The lava that flowed under the ground in tubes can provide shelter for those that once called this area home. Many residents of days past have lived close to volcanos that have gone dormant. The natural resources can be used and the heat keeps the area warm enough naturally. If you are able to keep taking the trail all the way around and look around you will see petroglyphs. This hike is about six miles all the way around . Make sure and start early it's an amazing glance into the past . The mountain hug you as you climb and crawl over water falls from the past. It's an incredible experience. It's the journey and how you experience and explore. Get out and enjoy life . Don't let life pass you by. Make each day special. Nature is beautiful and it has been preserved from the past for generations to see

Walk, Jog, or bike love this spot for the beauty and the history. $25 to enter lake Meade State Park if you choose to go in if you have a pass it's free. Hoover Dam Hotel Casino and Hoover Damn are also in the area to visit to see the sights along with the small town of Boulder City which offers restaurants bars and small shops & antiques.

Hey Yelpers! This is…read morea super easy mostly flat hiking trail with the most beautiful views. This is the best time of the year to hike it, too. You can easily drive into the parking lot like you are heading to the visitor center, but drive past it down to the restroom parking lot close to the trail and it's perfectly marked for easy no brainer adventure. About half way or an hour in there is another restroom with a covered picnic table for a break. Then you can continue on down to the Boulder Dam. There are amazing views there as well as awesome retro restrooms , memorials, and water. There used to be a cafe. I forgot to look if they are still open. Before the dam is a parking structure. You can take the stairs or an elevator. We usually start our hikes about 8 am. The restrooms were still clean and stocked. I bring hand sanitizer. Be sure to bring water and a snack just in case. Dogs are welcome but please pick up after them and keep them on a leash. The later it gets the more busy it gets. I like to go here at least once a year. It's just so nice to get out into nature and experience Nevada. Parking is free. You can check out the visitor center while you are there. They have cool stuff. I recommend this trail. Check it out!

I'm a local here, This is my favorite place to come and detox. The view from your window is nature all around you. All this because we live in the desert, this is our "oasis." We don't have water here. We don't have nature in its truest form . The created bliss of Lake Las Vegas is something to see and experience. You need to stay here to truly appreciate and love what is happening here . You have your choice of a few places to stay for the evening. There is a Westin Resort and Hilton Hotel. I prefer the Westin mainly for the views and the quality of the resort style stay. You might think that a room at the Westin would be "resort," pricing . Not so ! They need to fill rooms. Our room, a lake view king suite was around $100, plus the resort fee. The Hilton is priced a bit lower. You decide what your best options are . Just know that you have options! It's all in what you are seeking to do. Come and play then stay a while and see what happens. Make sure and let yourself get back to normal and enjoy some rest. Life is busy sometimes and this is a great way to down time and recharge.
