The problem is that we were told the first year only we would have to pay for the purchase of the lights. From then on only pay for replacement lights and a much reduced price for putting up and taking down the lights. They told me they were putting my lights in tubs with my name on them and into storage for the next year. This year however the cost was going to be almost double from last year. I was however told that if I ordered by a deadline (the gal in the office was on vacation and couldn't place the order)and used a different bulb it would only be a couple hundred more than last year. So, what happened to the lights I payed for last year? And the promise made. They should stick to painting.

Wintergreen Nursery is a big and beautiful place so I figured this is the place for me! Jill met us and showed us around. Many of the plants still around were flowers and ornamentals. I was looking for vegetables and fruits. I wanted grapes. There were a few varieties and they looked very happy and healthy despite the end of the growing season. I picked a Black Monukka grape with seeds and a Red Flame seedless variety. Jill told us they were two year old roots and we may even get a small crop next season and regular crops after that. I can't wait to see how they taste! I wanted an apricot tree, Hydrangeas and vegetables but will have to wait until after the first of next year. Apricot trees start selling in January! I went in to pay and took a quick look around at all the flower bouquets and decor. I met Ruth who also works there. They are all so nice and knowledgeable about plants. The staff person immediately was curt and when asked to check with her manager, she returned to say all sales were final. The item I purchased was discounted but it did not say that it was a final sale on the merchandise or my receipt- which was never even asked for. I like to shop local when I can. But local businesses who refuse to kindly work with the consumer is why it's not easy to do so -their loss.

I initially connected with Apex when a friend suggested I might try using Yelp to find a contractor. Christian, the owner, came to give me an estimate on removing some nasty carpet from a bathroom and replacing it with more appropriate bathroom flooring. I was trying to get this done quickly to better meet family medical needs, so I wasn't too fussy about what it looked like. I described what was needed and he used his experience to suggest what would work best for our situation and he sent me a few pictures of different flooring and edging to choose from. He bought materials the next morning, and had good communication on keeping me updated for his arrival time after the materials purchase. One thing I really appreciated is that he was able to plan the work around elderly family needs with the bathroom. Even though there were other bathrooms in the home, because it was the best bathroom for an elderly person to use at night, he kept it functional between the first and second days of work. Even though this wasn't necessarily the most "efficient" way of working he prioritized our needs. He also kept everything very tidy around the area where work was being done, and was able to keep the hallway outside of the bathroom accessible during the day while he was working. After the work was complete, Christian had me look it over, made sure everything was clean and every last bit of debris from the project was removed from the property, and later that evening sent me an invoice online. It was convenient to access and pay the invoice with a card via a secure payment platform. Christian was also very professional and respectful in all aspects of our communication and working in the house. I also appreciated that he's very clear and specific on what types of work he does and what he doesn't, and his connections to people who can help with other construction specialties. I would not hesitate to hire Apex for other jobs in the future!
