I came by one day to look for plants. I understand it's the end of the season but was hoping to get some in the ground to get roots established. Wintergreen Nursery is a big and beautiful place so I figured this is the place for me! Jill met us and showed us around. Many of the plants still around were flowers and ornamentals. I was looking for vegetables and fruits. I wanted grapes. There were a few varieties and they looked very happy and healthy despite the end of the growing season. I picked a Black Monukka grape with seeds and a Red Flame seedless variety. Jill told us they were two year old roots and we may even get a small crop next season and regular crops after that. I can't wait to see how they taste! I wanted an apricot tree, Hydrangeas and vegetables but will have to wait until after the first of next year. Apricot trees start selling in January! I went in to pay and took a quick look around at all the flower bouquets and decor. I met Ruth who also works there. They are all so nice and knowledgeable about plants. A few times a year myself and my siblings call ahead to order a delivery or special arrangements for our mother in a nearby town. Met Mike, the owner, and he was very helpful in helping me select a fig tree plant. It was a baby, just a tall twig In a 2 1/2 gallon container in the spring, but now in the summer it has branched out, grown twice as tall, and beautiful leaves have sprung forth. I felt that it was a bit pricey at $21.00, but the quality of the plant was good. Friendly and helpful is how I would describe the service at this nursery. read more

After meaning to do some landscaping for the past 28 years, and never getting around to it, we finally decided to act. What would have been a fairly simple job all those years ago, is now a huge undertaking. We had purchased plants over the years from Wintergreen Nursery and have been very pleased, so we hired them to take on this huge task. A week in, we couldn't be happier. Everyone has been friendly, prompt and professional. They have been on site everyday, rain or freezing weather. Mike and Steve are both so knowledgeable, and their entire crew have put their hearts, and more than a little muscle into the job. I can't wait to see the finished product. If there were ZERO stars, Wintergreen earned it. After my husband died, I came home from the funeral home and found a somewhat nasty message on my answering machine, stating that she had been to our house and honked several times and we didn't come out, so the flowers are in her cooler and she'll keep them for 2 days and then throw them out. She new it was for a death since they had to fill out the sympathy card. What a terrible way to treat recipients of flowers. She could have earned our future business but because of her terrible way of dealing with us, we'll never go into her nursery. read more

I just love this place. The first time I stopped in was for an apple tree. The gal that helped me was super friendly and chatted me up with good conversation while I peeked around. If you've green thumbs like myself you could spend hours just looking at the selection of plants and trees wintergreen nursery is adorned in. I contracted Wintergreen to completely remodel my back yard. The majority of the area was covered in river rock and we wanted to have that removed and have grass put in. This effort involved not only the removal of the rocks but the installation of a new sprinkler system and also the addition of some new plants. The Wintergreen team did an amazing job!! they were professional, conscientious, friendly and prompt. Their work is of superior quality and their dedication to excellence was outstanding.
