I have ordered from Rogue Valley Roses over the years and have told friends about them as well. I have been growing roses since 1988!!! They were one of the first rose growers to offer own root roses and a very wide selection of old, hard to find roses. They have always sent me very healthy plants that took off the second year. It's expensive to coddle an own root rose until it looks like a grafted, bushy one and other nurseries offer them from $60-$70 and that's without shipping! Rogue Valley roses are much more affordable and with that, you need to take extra care with them. They need careful looking after and with that care the second year they will reward you with beautiful roses. You can't just plant them well and "see" if they grow. If you want to save money and you are willing to take good care of your plant, I highly recommend them!! I wish I found these reviews prior to ordering from Rogue Valley Roses. I'm a rose enthusiast and have successfully grew roses from cuttings. I ordered several roses from this nursery and received just about 3 weeks ago. All the other roses were fine even they look so fragile and thin. All but one rose has remained in the same condition when I received them, it didnt sprout a single new leaf which concerns me. Tried to contact them but havent responded to my email. Just tried them to see if they are a descent nursery. I was planning to order more roses, but that has changed, Never again. Buyers beware...Despite the rude customer service over the phone and against my better judgement, I still took a chance ordering. I received my rose order and once opened, I realized the leaves were covered in white powdery spots, looks like powder mildew or some other disease and a brown weak or dead spot on the main branch. I sent pictures as instructed if not satisfied with my order and did not hear back. I called 2 times and and the last time I was told they were busy in a family meeting and would call back, I still heard nothing. I send another email and still have been blown off. I am so disappointed and feel like companies that practice business like this selling sick plants should not remain in business. I hope this review helps others avoid buying from them. Any rose they have shipped has always been the healthiest and I have been pleased with their consistent dependability, reasonable cost, and excellent packaging/shipping. I love the selection of roses offered, and the secure packaging ensures safe arrival of the plants. Expectations are set that these are small own-root roses that take a little time to get to full blooming capacity. This is a photo of the two roses I recently bought, BOTH the same name, and type. I paid $40 for each. The rose on the right is from Rogue Valley Roses and the rose on the left is from the Antique Rose Emporium (both mail order) You can clearly see the difference. I am an experienced rosarion who grows hundreds of roses. I order from several different nurseries each year and have never had a worse experience than I did when ordering from Rogue Valley Roses. I received my two roses and was immediately disappointed in their appearance but thought I should given them a chance. After 2 weeks it was obvious these roses were not healthy. I took pictures of the roses and emailed Rogue Valley to inform them my roses were failing. They responded by saying they thought it still looked like they could make it so give them more time which I did with no avail. I then emailed pictures of the dead roses and asked them to contact me. After 2 weeks, the owner, Janet Inada, called me to explain they are never at fault and it was me that killed the roses. I explained to her that the roses came in poor condition and with extra care and attention, the roses still died. Janet said she would speak to her nursery manager and get back to me with a resolution. That was August 3, 2024. It's now October 25th and I haven't heard back from her. I have emailed again and again but still nothing. I'm very disappointed in the way I've been treated and will never do business with them again. I will also share my experience with the rose societies and garden clubs I'm involved with so they know how I was treated. Buyer beware. If I could give this company no stars, even a really dim star, I would. Multiple calls and e.mails to get the order shipped, and to get the correct roses shipped, were to no avail. Lots of apologies, lots of excuses and I ended up with one anemic looking rose and nearly 16.00 for shipping and handling. I'm still waiting for the second rose. I order 2 roses from the website which indicated was in stock. The Monday it was supposed to ship I got an email saying 1 was unavailable to ship. I understood that it was not ready to be shipped and just had 1 sent. The website isn't exactly up to date as I would have liked because when I checked the site again it was still in stock. It was over a week before I emailed a out my refund. I called 3 days later because there was no response. Apparently I was refunded the day prior for $22.50 only my refund should have been $22.90 which I still have yet two see now over a month since my purchase. To stay positive they have a huge selection of unique roses. What I like is they aren't in 1-2 gallon. It's awesome indoor planting. It ships watered so I don't recommend doing that until a couple weeks after planting. Even though I had an issue, they are efficient and communicative. I would still buy from them again. read more

Rogue Valley Roses - The Green Rose - Nurseries & Gardening Near Me - Medford, Oregon

I've received three shipments from Rogue Valley Roses, one shipment annually each of the last three years. For all three shipments, the roses arrived intact and labeled. The first shipment had lost some dirt from the band pots, but the last couple have both had the plants and pots very well secured in the box. All roses have been healthy and correctly labeled (4-5 roses per shipment). All but one plant has done well in my garden, and the one that failed was my own fault (I didn't water enough during a dry spell early on). And the selection is outstanding. Being able to order year-round and keep shipping costs down is a fair trade for the relatively small size of the band-style roses they offer for the cost, which they are VERY clear about on their website . So reviewers who didn't read that section, that's on you, not on RVR. I've had good service when I've called about adding to or changing my orders. My two issues are 1) I'm pretty impatient about the length of time it takes for items to rotate back into being in stock, and 2) there are some omission s of info and a bit of glitchiness on the website, particularly with the search function turning up ghost entries for items that, when you click the link offered, won't show up. read more

This past spring I had ordered a Margueritte Hilling rose. RVR's catalogue showed a picture of Nevada (exact rose except white and Margueritte Hilling is pink) with the name Margueritte Hilling. I ordered a Margueritte Hilling with a note to them that I did not want Nevada, that I specifically wanted MH. Well, they didn't send me MH. They sent a totally different rose, one that I don't like and certainly is in no way a substitute for what I ordered. I emailed them with no reply. read more

I bought two "Apothecary" roses last Spring. They bloomed in late April, and were exactly as described. I haven't seen the roots in seven months, and may not see them again until Spring 2022, but was happy to see slow, steady top growth, and healthy leaves indicating that was well below the soil line. AVOID ROGUE VALLEY ROSES, NEW MANAGEMENT DISHONEST. I've had excellent experiences with Rogue Valley Roses in the past. However, they are under new management and they just stole $32 of my money. To be precise, I ordered two roses this spring, they were healthy and grew well, but when they bloomed, it became obvious that one of them had been mislabelled - they accidentally sent the wrong rose. No big deal, just send me the right rose or refund my money. I sent three emails, got no response whatsoever, so I went to phone calls. Got a man who never gave me his name and wasn't particularly polite, made it clear he didn't really want to be bothered. He told me the company was under new management, they'd been backlogged and were struggling to catch up and would get to my issues as soon as they could. I waited a week, nothing, so I called back. Same again. Last week, after three emails and three phone calls, I told the guy I wanted my money and I wanted it within three days, no more postponements. He said, "Okay, I'll use PayPal and send you an instantaneous transfer so you can have it right this minute." I said fine. But, it's been three days and the money isn't in my account. So I called back and he said, very self righteous, "I refunded your money last week." But he didn't. I don't have the money. I even logged into PayPal to see if anything was being held in PayPal rather than put in my bank account. Looks like Rogue Valley Roses has stolen $32 of my money. read more

what a rip off ! i have contacted the main number, it turns out the owner answers it every once in awhile. thought i was lucky to be able to speak with her. the rose i have received was wilted, weak and very, very tiny - i did express a concern for the condition of the rose yet took a chance and have planted it. well, 3 days later - the rose got aphids and powdery mildew all over it ! now i have to worry about the spread in my whole garden ! my garden is a very healthy garden, i have grown roses on and off for over 30 years. honestly - never had an issue like this before where a freshly shipped rose is that sick ! despite speaking with the owner, janet, for the 2nd time today - i was accused of being rude after barely being able to put a few words together and explaining what the problem was. i was told it is sunday, what are you calling me for ..... wow... my own family would never ever speak to me in such a way where i am forced just to listen ! well, in return, i am forced to ask for a refund and would never ever purchase from this company again ! what is interesting is that the owner said she is not customer service - she does not know how soon i will receive a refund - she said may be a week, may be a month ? so, as an owner you do not know your own policy ? if you are not customer service - why do you pick up the phone then - it is customer service and you as the owner are absolutely horrible at it and are hurting your own company. stay away from this company unless you want to end up in a hospital read more

After 3 days of phone calls to resolve a dead rose sent to me in the middle of winter, I questioned why they would even ship the gift under those conditions. And they shipped the selected gift to a zone where it is not recommended. A reputable company would have caught that and suggested an alternative. I would never buy anything from Rogue Valley Roses again. They told me they had received roses that were supposed to be Betty Prior (BP) roses last fall and some turned out to not be BPs. They asked me to wait; they would like to check the bloom first to be sure before shipping. They later shipped me two roses (without flowers). One was not a BP rose. I was very understanding about the fact that these things happen. The owner called me and didn't offer a refund; she asked me to wait until next spring when they could ship BP roses to my zone. She asked me to jump through some hoops - get on their "wait list", and save an e-mail she would send me proving that I bought the rose so that whatever employee that was involved would see a proof of purchase. She wanted me to check back on the website periodically in the shipping season to see if the BP rose came in... The onus should have been on them to PLEASANTLY correct the problem - not make ME jump through hoops to have the rose replaced. In the end, she yelled at me, telling me I wasn't listening, and told me that she could just refund the money but then I would be out a rose. When businesses make mistakes (that's life - they happen), if they want to stay in business, they should care about their customers and make correcting any problem EASY and on their (the company's) shoulders, rather than putting that responsibility on their customers. To make jumping through her hoops easier for me, I offered to send an e-mail once a month, beginning in the fall with a request/reminder. She told me that she has way too many customers to take time to see my e-mail. In the end, after being rudely treated and yelled at, I requested a refund. I won't be dealing with this business again - STRESSFUL. I do have one nice, small BP rose plant. read more

At one time, I frequently purchased roses from Rogue Valley Roses, and typically was pleased. The plants themselves were generally healthy, but always puny and, in my opinion, overpriced. Then, a couple of years ago, both the quality of their roses and their customer service dramatically declined. I was paying a high price for a teeny twig of a thing every time I placed an order. With one purchase in particular, I had to phone and ask when I could expect my order because I hadn't received it. Getting through to someone on the phone was difficult, but I ended up speaking to an employee (not the owner, Janet), who was in charge of shipments. He explained to me that operations at the nursery had taken a turn for the worse (not his exact words, of course) and he had been doing his best to see that shipments were being made in a timely manner, but that it was difficult for him. I stopped purchasing roses from Rogue Valley and now order from Heirloom Roses (also located in Oregon), along with High Country Roses in Colorado. I have found that both of these nurseries are far superior to Rogue Valley Roses. read more

I have ordered roses from Rogue Valley Roses several times. They pack the roses beautifully, and very safely. The bands never fail to bloom and once planted to mature. Order four rose bushes that said they where in stock. The day of shipping we get email telling it has not shipped and will not ship until August no date nothing just August so we sent two emails requesting the order be canceled did not hear anything back so I called today June 30 2017 telling them I want to cancel the women who answered the phone named Janice said she was the owner when I told her wanted to cancel I asked for a confirmation number and she responded I don't have one what really she was short with me as I asked for this she then tells me will you will see a refund in 3-5 days if the card was processed will it was I asked her why she charged my card already she basically told me to be quite so she could speak she did not want let me speak a word in and yes I was upset with her for the lies she told of having said roses so yes I have every right to be.
