A very good park that many say it's in NC some say Bonita, either one it's a good park for birthdays, events & just to chill & grill & bring the kids. Been coming here since the 80's & till this day they still have the train & it's cool. It's 2 parks connected so 2 lots. They have a Playground & baseball field & basketball courts. The park is well kept, good grass, clean & restrooms are clean which is great because most parks don't keep that clean. Park Rangers/staff to go around to make sure everything is cool which is good. Reserve the tent places if it's a big event for weekend uses because it can get busy. If drinking please use the red cup don't be an ass & get caught & mess it up for the rest of us, don't be that guy. And don't liter, clean up after yourself. I've been coming to this park since I was a teenager. This has always been my favorite park. I've had parties, bbq's here. I've worked out jogging around the whole park. Played softball and other sports for fun. It is very clean and quite big and now I take my dog to the dog park. Bathrooms are clean. It's very well kept. Plenty of parking. If you're looking for a place have a party, play sports or just hang out, this is a great park to come to. read more

It's located right next to Chula Vista Golf Course which has a pond you can enjoy feeding the ducks and turtles (see pic). The playground is super fun, perfect for you and your children to explore. This place is a great park to get your miles in, visit the basket ball court, come to the play ground and even host a party! There is also a library near by, a coffee shop, jack in the box and a Vons in case you have some errands to run after. If you are going to take a stroller with you on your walk please be sure it is a jogging stroller in one of the areas it has ALOT of dirt to go through which made it really tough to go through but you could always just head back around the other way depending on which area you parked at. This park is very nice. It has two playgrounds one for the littles and one for the big kids. It has lots of parking and two sets of restrooms that even have doors on the stalls yay. It has a dog park too. On the second weekend of the month The Chula Vista Live Steamers give free train rides between noon and 2:30. It's a good park to do a 3 mile run or walk and it's close to where we live. There's always a lot of people doing many activities at this park. The trail is nice but it's a dirt path for the most part and not much nice sightseeing around. You walk around the golf course and through the park. Good place to get a workout in. It's pretty safe but I do get uncomfortable around the area where you walk under this bridge, it's past the Jack in the box. There's less people there and it's more hidden. Just be aware of your surroundings. Overall it's popular park in the neighborhood. read more

One of the best parks to come for a decent walk/run in the South Bay. It's a flat, 3.1 mile course surrounding part of the Bonita golf course that's both family and dog friendly. For those who don't care to trek the whole course, there's a jungle gym, playground, basketball courts, and outdoor gym near the main entrance. There's also a dog park. Parking isn't an issue since there are 2 main lots to park in. Before hitting the course, there are 2 sets of restrooms. The best time to get here is early morning before 10am. read more

Been going to this park since I was in high school .... the 3.1 mi dirt path that circumference the golf course is popular for jogging/walking your 5K. Sometimes you'll see ppl walking their dog or horses. There is also a dog park and 2 large updated playgrounds for tots and older kids. They have a basketball court and baseball field. I run with my pup here and visit the dog park. This park is HUGE! There is a small train that goes through during summer (I don't know if it still is with this whole COVID thing). This was one of the parks i frequented as a child. On a recent visit, I was happy to see that the park was well-maintained and that the train was still in use! There is ample parking and lots of shade though I wish the playgrounds had more benches and trees for parents to enjoy while their kids played. My only complaint is for the women's bathroom. There's a golf course, trails, horses ring, tennis, baseball, picnic area, Province House rental property for events, and ton of Gazebos available to rent for parties. Cardio UGH right?! Wrong!! Rohr park is one of the best places for a great 3 mile walk, jog or run. The track surrounds a golf course which makes it impossible for you to cheat yourself. Meaning, when you start the track you must finish it... technically you can stop and turn around but what's the point when you're already halfway! :) The track is filled with friendly people walking their pups, kids on bikes, and even people riding horses. Despite all the traffic the track itself is always super clean! I've yet to see trash on the track or animal feces anywhere on the track. I do recommend wearing your oldest running shoes or shoes you don't mind getting dirty and at times a bit muddy. The track is all dirt and sandy therefore your shoes will get dirty! There's also plenty of parking everywhere, ducks and birds to see as you get in a great work out in the fresh air. read more

It gives you a good mood and motivation and enjoy walking with the beautiful scenery, big shady trees. Good vibes! The park is fine. It has everything all the folks have been saying it does- pathways, playgrounds, a dog park and it seems like even a train (it wasn't running when I was there). I did want to warn people by sharing my experience though: today, after walking around the park I stopped and went to listen to music under a tree. It was close enough to the walking path but there weren't many people. Having my headphones in I couldn't really hear much. I also tend to close my eyes and try and feel close to nature so I was doing that as well. When I opened my eyes there was a young man very very close to me (like inches), laying down on the ground near my legs. It was super startling. I jumped up and walked away and told some ranger-type folks from the park. One of the men that I told said that the he has received complaints about similar situations before. The other man was incredibly helpful and sweet (thanks Eddie) and went to talk to the young man advising him that he can't get so close to people... still unsettling that there have been complaints before though about the same particular person. I'm not one to advise women to "be careful". We should be able to do whatever we want to do when we want to however we want to. I should be able to lay under some trees and listen to music without the threat of someone creeping up on me. So I'm not here to tell anyone to change their habits-- I am just letting people know that this was a pretty disconcerting event that shook me up and so just keep an eye on the park, and the people around you, when you're there. This is a really great park to visit. If you like to jog, then this is an awesome place to do it. They have a 3.1 mile trail to run. There is also a lot of off-duty law-enforcement that goes here so it's pretty safe. They have a duck pond so if you like to feed the ducks have at it. And it surrounds a golf course so you have to watch for those stray balls coming your way. The park always seems pretty clean and it's good place to throw a barbecue or a party for the family. There is ample parking and the area is well lit. It's also only a few miles away from Bonita Plaza mall. I highly recommend the park for your recreational pleasure. read more

I came here to stay in the shade to cool off. It's such a beautiful day out today. Perfect weather we are having. There's actually two sides of the park. I ended up missing the first entrance but there was an entrance on the far end so I went into the last entrance. Plenty of parking in the lots. Lots of things to do here. People were running and walking. There were basketball courts and plenty of shade and trees. It was so relaxing just coming here. I definitely enjoyed my time here. There were even restrooms here but I never use the restrooms in a park. It's just disgusting. Trust me. I know cause I have been to a few. I would definitely come back here to relax and be under the shade to cool off. We even brought sandwiches to eat and bottled drinks. A cool place to chill out. read more

Come here all the time for a walk with my dog. Today I lost my phone while running at this park and some Good Samaritan turned it into a man selling produce in the side of the road since it was Sunday and everything administrative is closed. Large well kept park in South Bay, San Diego. It's a great walk for beginners, which I really like since I need to keep a slower pace. It's about a 3mile walk all the way around. A lot of people come here to either walk, run or ride their bikes which makes it very safe if you ever need to go exercising alone. I really like this park because it's very dog friendly. They have a dog park on site or you can simply walk your dog on the trail. Plenty of parking too, they have multiple parking lots throughout the park so if you're meeting with a friend for the first time, make sure you guys arrange the correct parking lot. read more

I can't believe I have never reviewed my favorite park besides Balboa Park and the Paradise Hills Skate Park (just for sentimental reasons)! I've made so many memories at Rohr Park. First off, this is the prime location to train for a 5K run, which is the exact distance of Rohr Park's perimeter! The distance is perfect, parking is perfect, the location is perfect. The park is nestled between Bonita, Chula Vista, National City, and Paradise Hills. It's just down the street from the 805, taking the Bonita Road exit. Every time I plan to visit home, I always incorporate a run here to stay in shape. Here, you can run, take a stroll, walk your dogs, bring your entire family, throw parties and picnics, spend lunch breaks, watch the mini train pass through the tracks (I have yet to see it!), watch the ducks glide on the pond, play golf, baseball, soccer, and football, ask your girlfriend (or boyfriend) out, have a date, break up with someone, have a heart-to-heart conversation...this park is the perfect mix of quiet and liveliness. With all this said, Rohr Park is well-patronized and a safe space. Park is ample on both the Sweetwater Road (north) side and the Bonita Library/Bonita Road (south) side. The three picnic areas along Sweetwater are marked well by A, B, and C. As with any city park, reservations and payment are required to reserve a gazebo. A bonus--TJ Oyster Bar and Hans and Harry Bakery are both across the street from Rohr. ;) read more

Family friendly place! Nice 5k or 3 mile run. Parking is pretty safe. There are 2 official playgrounds. One is better than the other, but that's okay. I think there's two softball/baseball fields. A lot of party benches that you have to reserve. Not that hard to do. Just google it. Majority of the running trail is sand/dirt, but overall it's pretty flat and nice to run on. Once in a while you will run into horse crap, but just go around and you'll be fine. In case your back gives out, stop by New Beginnings Chiropractor (it's on the trail). Currently there is some construction underway in the western part of the trail, but it's not that bad. read more

This is my go to 5k training grounds. It may not be hilly and on weekends there could be a hundred families on the park paths but when it comes to convenience and a pleasurable run, Rohr Park is where it's at. I love have the choice of making my run as short as a 3 miler, to as long as I want with running to the sweetwater dam and beyond. But I love the safe parking lot by the police station and library as it gives me the peace of mind when I go for my training runs. So when you see me out there jogging during the day feel free to give me a high five...they're free! read more

Took Winnie to the small dog park a few weeks back for her first experience... I loved it, her.. not so much .. but it was safe, clean and well fenced... it took a while for her to calm down but the facilities and fellow dog parents were wonderful. This park has it all, green, trees, stream, a lake , golf course and a 5K circle foot track- the equestrian path rounds off the amenities ... With Covid it's really well utilized by groups unable to train indoors I guess. Plenty of parking and I never feels crowded- the place is that big. read more
