Got a friend suggestion that we go there & have the tastings for two menu - was absolutely insanely delicious & filling. And then they brought out a dessert for two that could have fed five. Was high price tag, but completely worth the cost & experience.

I was taken here by 2 of my girlfriends for my birthday and we had a lovely meal. We went for the Sunday lunch which is 10 small sharing dishes and then a main dish each, with bottomless wine or Prosecco. Food was nice although we would have liked a little more sushi. Service was average but it didn't ruin our meal. Pricey but a great way to celebrate something special

We had lunch at Roka yesterday, and I think I'm still in a bit of a food coma. It was amazing. The format of the menu is such that you pick a main course and the rest of the courses are included. We shared the skewers, beef, and ribs as our main course. We also had a 2 year old with us. First of all, the staff was fantastic with our toddler. They would always check on him, make funny faces, and do whatever they could to keep him entertained. it worked! We had a pretty lengthy meal, and he stayed well behaved the whole time. Also, we got a kids meal for him, and it was literally the classiest kids meal I have ever seen in my life. In terms of the actual, real adult food, it was fantastic. I think the crispy rock shrimp was probably my favorite. I really enjoyed the sashimi as well. Our main courses were definitely the highlights, with the ribs probably being the best of the three. I cannot wait to come back. The place isn't cheap, but if you're looking for a great dining experience, one that stresses presentation and really goes above and beyond just serving high quality food, I recommend the place!

Fabulous meal and experience. This Roka is much nicer and feels more upscale than the Charlotte Street one. The whole experience and quality of the decor was stunning. I tried the seasonal tasting menu, which was £55. A pretty good deal I think! The food was very spectacular overall, especially their sushi, which was better than I expected. The only thing stopping them from getting 5 stars was that the service really slowed down towards the end and we had to ask twice for our bill. Also, the chicken main dish was not good. Was very lemony and didn't taste Japanese at all. Be sure to ask for a substitute if you do the tasting menu. The sashimi, sushi nigiri, and the desserts were highlights. I also tried a carafe of sake and it was very floral and delicious. Will definitely be back!

I was Surprised to see Roka only had 4*s, for me it's one of the best restaurants in London! Admittedly the Charlotte street venue is better, but this place still deserves 5*s. The Menu is perfect, a great mix of everything from sushi to steak, and amazing cocktails to stunning desserts! You could spend a small fortune trying everything as it's all that good! Some of my personal favourites are- Soft Shell Crab and Chilli dressing Black Cod-2nd favourite after the Lamb Spicy Beef and pepper skewers Lamb Cutlets with Spices-Possibly the best single dish in London then add some sushi into the mix and you are well on your way. For dessert get the platter...a mixture of all things good in life! The service is good, the drinks are lovely and the décor is great. Worth the trip for a special occasion!

I had done a bit of research previously to dining, and after the fantastic marketing watching the video on the Roka website, it was safe to say I had very high expectations. I am glad to report that my expectations were met. We arrived an hour before our friends to have a few drinks at the bar. The bar staff, aside from confusing me with an apparently recognizable semi-famous stage actor (flattering) was extremely attentive. With each drink they made in front of us came an explanation, of the ingredients, the origins, where the ideas came from, and if there was enough, a sample - which was a fantastically interactive and fun education along with little tastes to promote new drinks! We were off to a very good start. We were seated promptly at our reservation time, and ordered two bottles of wine and the seasonal tasting menu for 3 of the 5 of us, a la cart for the other two. The dishes came out at a good pace, and the staff was attentive to making sure the two that ordered a la cart were receiving plates at the same time as the rest of us. The quality of the fish for the sashimi course was fantastic, and the gyoza and tempura shrimp were fantastic as well. Everything was tasty, the atmosphere with an open kitchen at the center of the room where you could watch food being prepared was delightful. When the dessert came we were all a bit stunned by the ornate plating, a huge selection of options, beautifully displayed. My single complaint was that we had a bottle of wine opened on ice, and at one point had to ask a server to bring it back to our table because our glasses were empty. Otherwise, there is nothing bad I can say. The food was extremely tasty, top quality, service was friendly. My local friends were a little surprised at the "high" 13% added gratuity, but being that I was visiting from the States where 20% is average, I was not upset by the 13% for this kind of dining experience one bit. Additionally the bar manager alerted me that Roka's sister enterprise, Zuma, has a restaurant in my home city of New York, which I look forward to trying as well by comparison.

It was a spontaneous decision on our last night in London to go to Roka. Originally heading to Convent Garden we got too hungry and thought we would give them a go. Best decision we've made! We came quite late on a Sunday night and they were about to close the kitchen. We felt like we might have been a bother but they treated us with the same respect they would any other customer. The food was beautiful, tasty and well presented. And great value for money! We left with our bellies full and happy. Thanks, team! We loved it!

I've had this sort of table service before in Japan, and I gotta say that Abeno hits the mark! My fiance and I came here on a Monday evening for dinner a while back and luckily did not have to wait for a table (since we didn't have a reservation). We started with the agedashi tofu which was phenomenal, and then we moved into the okonomiyaki itself. We opted for two okonomiyakis which was the perfect amount of food for us -- Osaka with pork / kimchi / prawns and Sapporo Mix with squid / prawn / salmon / scallops / corn. The staff cooked everything in front of our eyes and they were very attentive throughout the entire process. Once everything was done cooking, they cut up the okonomiyaki for us, and the finished product was absolutely amazing. I would highly recommend!

The starters alone are worth a trip, and there were so many I wanted to try, they're actually all I had. Don't judge. They were amazing. The Pumpkin Croquettes were a slightly sweet and crispy version of traditional croquettes, deep-fried to perfection, with a light and smooth finish. Two will set you back a mere £3.10. While the spring rolls are good, I highly recommend the Vegetarian Duck Rolls, made with slightly sweet tofu skin, spring onions, cucumber, and Hoi Sin sauce. Three of those healthy rolls are a whopping £4.60. Finally, the Chicken Yakitori was also a dish worth it's weight in pounds, char-grilled to perfection and doused in a sweet yakitori sauce. A few skewers costs around £4.10. The rest of the menu is not only enormous, but sure to please any seafood-lover, especially sushi. They serve just about any Asian-inspired dish you can think of, including salads, ramen dishes, rice dishes, noodles of many different varieties, tempura, and sushi rolls, with a perfectly-paired sake menu to boot. But really, those side dishes are to die for.

Thanks to Katie B for stepping in as interim Yelp Ramen Club organiser in Josy A's absence…read more Ramen Club 8.0 took place at Ribon and Katie went to great lengths to make our booking and also to make sure that they had ramen available - for large parties, it's best to warn them as they only make a limited amount of broth each day When you get to the restaurant, don't be put off by the fact that the ground floor looks shut because it is shut! Descend the stairs to the subterranean dining room. Our party of 15 took over most of the main dining area though there are private rooms, which also offer karaoke The starters were my favourite part of the meal with the black cod and chicken karaage being top of my list even though the portion size was tiny for the cost. As far as ridiculous prices go though, I think my glass of orange juice from a carton for £3.30 was criminal - I can get 2 litres of Tropicana for less. Other starters like the pork and kimchi were rather bland The ramen was a disappointment. The broth was rather bland and the chashu was dry. Perhaps in keeping with the rather mean attitude to the volume of food served, there was no egg. In an age when Bone Daddies and other ramen joints in London have raised the bar, bowls like this won't cut it any longer It was a really fun evening but the food wasn't up to scratch, especially the ramen. Ramen: The miso soup was really good; hot and delicious... BUT my noodles seemed like over-cooked, squidgy cup-ramen noodles. I liked the toppings, but I was sad not to have an egg, and the cha siu was forgettable. So all in all the ramen isn't as good as many of the other ramen-joy-lands in London. Plus they took aaaaages to make, even though Katie had told them in advance that we would order lots of noodles. Izakaya menu: We also tried the agedashi dofu (really nice, but without much dashi!), the karaage and the gyoza. They were all lovely, and the general izakaya menu sounded full of tasty dishes. I'd be up for trying more of them. Other: A group of my friends from Japan have been here several times, and they all really liked it... so I know this place could be amazing. I'll have to come back to try non-noodle items, and to have a sing in their karaoke booth.

There are two sittings for omakase each day, one at 5:30PM and one at 8:30PM. The interior is very intimate and each sitting serves 7 people only. Bookings are made at least two weeks to one month in advance depending on their policy which changes from time to time. They only accept reservations through phone calls and based on my experience, it was pretty hard to get through so I'd definitely recommend reading through their website for what to do to secure yourself a reservation. My friend and I both got the sushi & sashimi omakase, which comes with three plates of sashimi, 7 pieces of sushi (all seasonally selected!) and a sweet tamago at the end. The sashimi and sushi are all seasonally selected and exotic! I got to try gurnard and turbot sushi which I've never had raw before! The fish is not only high quality and delicious but prepped and presented beautifully too. The variety of condiments selected for each sushi was carefully thought out, elevating each mouthful. The service was impeccable as was the food. The chef's wife and the waiters always came to check-in with us and walk us through the proper dining etiquette. Under the chef's wife's recommendation, we also shared some sake and plum wine. It was lovely watching the chef prep and make each piece of sushi, exhibiting his intent and passion with every movement. The whole session lasted a little over 2 hours and we enjoyed every bit of it! I highly recommend checking out Sushi Tetsu at least once in your life! Not to mention the omakase was only for £96 (excluding alcohol and any service charge), which is cheap for the amount of food you get and cheaper than many other omakase meals found in London.
