I had the omakase for dinner ($95) per person and it was definitely worth it. It started with the most delicious miso tartare with a small sweet plum. It was a tasteful fusion that I had never experienced. The quality of the fish and meat were exceptional. My favorite was the blackened cod miso, which I would get again. My least favorite was the sukiyaki but even that was delicious. Dessert was a chocolate hot lava cake with matcha ice cream. We stayed at the Nobu hotel and in the morning, they had a breakfast buffet along with an English breakfast that was cooked perfectly. read more

Being from LA and a long time fan of Nobu and before that Matsuhisa in LA we were very disappointed with our dining experience last night. We fist visited the bar and although the bartenders were very nice and knowledgeable and it wasn't very busy at all, they served us one drink and even though our drinks were finished they never came over to ask if we wanted another. We then decided to head up to our table. We were hit quickly with the noise level of the cafeteria style layout and put in a small 2 top tightly between two tables. One with small children and the other of a loving couple. The table was very wide and with the noise level it was nearly impossible to hear my partner at all, so we moved over to the sushi bar. This was a lot better, but the noise level we just had to get used to. The service there was good, especially Cavatina who helped us pick some amazing Saki. The sushi chef took our order and the food came out very quickly. It was just OK and not what we remember the caliber we used to eat a few years ago when we last dined at Nobu (not this location). We both told each other that we won't be going back and that we think that there are higher quality sushi restaurants here in London who offer a much better and quieter dining experience. For the prices, one would think the room would be much more elegant and we turned to each other and said it felt very Las Vegas with the crowd, being rushed and quality of food. This experience was beyond disappointing and I believe something should be done to save this establishment or simply closing it would be best. I ordered the Omakase menu which I have to say was simply a waste of money. The ambience in the restaurant is absolutely terrible as it so noisy I was almost unable to hear my wife. My wife and I decided to go to Nobu in London on our last night of a 26 day all of Europe trip. We ordered the tasting menu. We have been to Nobu Las Vegas and LA. The bottom line is the food was pretty good but the waiting for each dish was brutal. 20-25 mins between dishes almost ruined the dinner. I'll put it up front. The price was high for dinner omakase. That said, the expectation was high as well. It fell a bit short on a few axis. Only half the dishes were creative and fun. The other half was what you would expect from most mid-quality sushi places. Flavors were good. But I was expecting each dish to be fun and different and flavorful. Maybe one or 2 dishes to be a traditional, what you would expect, sushi place dish. I wanted a good sake to pair with our foods. The waiter didn't really toss out any recommendations and when asked, said they were all good. I'm sure they are....but at least come prepared to have a recommendation or two. The restaurant itself was nice and felt like a good set up. Some tables were more intimate than others. It was a bit pounder than I expected. Lots of shouting and banter everywhere. Felt more like a nice restaurant than a high end experience. Being overly critical here because this is a very pricey place and one would expect the price to reflect the food and the experience. Nobu London at this location was where I learned to love sushi 23 years ago. The freshness of the sushi was the main factor. Since then, I've been to Nobus in Milan, NYC's various locations, Malibu, West Hollywood, Newport Beach, the Indian Wells BNP Tennis Tournament pop-up and Honolulu. My absolute favorite is still at this location because they still have the anticucho steak that we can't get in the US as an entree. Love our usual dishes of yellowtail jalapeño, new style sashimi w/scallops, the soft shell crab roll, spicy tuna roll, tuna tacos, and mushroom soup. We didn't order the rock shrimp tempura and instead did the miso cod; made me realize why I don't like the cod - you just feel ugh after a few bites but more of a personal preference vs. how it was cooked. The dessert is always their weakest link and remains that way. I had this mango dessert that was like a trifle in this impossible vessel - had to empty it of the sponge cake to get to the rest of the dessert. Absolutely Disgusting! Worst Nobu Experience Ever! If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I've been to Nobu locations all over the world, and never in my life have I had an experience this appalling. From start to finish, it was an absolute disaster. Let's start with the espresso martini--absolutely vile. I don't know what kind of expired, watered-down concoction they served me, but it tasted like rubbing alcohol. Off to a terrible start. Then came the appetizers. Fine. Nothing spectacular, but edible. Then the king crab arrived, and I genuinely wish it hadn't. It was putrid. It had to of been fermented fish left out in a humid basement for a week. That's what this tasted like. It was cold, soggy, and borderline inedible, like some microwave meal you'd find in the back of a gas station freezer. For a restaurant that prides itself on quality seafood, this was an abomination. Then came the wagyu dumplings. I took one bite and immediately regretted it. Somehow dry and greasy at the same time, with a weird, off-putting aftertaste that I couldn't shake. It was as if they reheated them from last week's leftovers. But the real kicker? The salmon. If I thought the crab was bad, this was on another level of disgusting, rancid. I genuinely don't know how this passed any sort of quality control. And the absolute worst part? My mother has a SEVERE orange allergy. We explicitly told them she cannot risk cross-contamination. Well, guess what? She's now had a severe allergic reaction, which means they either ignored or blatantly disregarded the allergy warning. That is beyond unacceptable--it is dangerous and irresponsible. For a brand that is supposed to represent luxury and quality, this was a complete disgrace. We have been loyal Nobu customers for years, visiting locations across the globe, and this was hands down the worst experience we've ever had. Ate at this Nobu last week, it was my first time eating at a nobu and they definitely left a good impression. We ordered the newstyle salmon sashimi, salmon sushi rolls, salmon crispy rice, wagu sliders, the wagu steak and all plates impressed everyone at the table. The service was good and the ambience was nice and classy. My least favorite Nobu tho that is something akin to saying my least favorite puppy. All Nobus are good, just some are not as good as others. This Nobu locates in central London was easy enough to find. Up a flight of stairs and you enter the main restaurant. Unlike most Nobus this one is plain. The decor is stark white with little embellishment and ordinary tables with ordinary light fixtures. It isn't a very wide restaurant with tight table density and very little ambiance. It felt more like a one off Nobu then any of the others I have been to. As always the service was impeccable. Our waitress was prompt, kind, and courteous. She was very business oriented which worked well that night keeping to the task at hand and not really chatting much. This seems like a 50/50 with my Nobu experiences. Some waiters like to give recommendations whereas some just want the patrons to order. She fell into the latter. The food always was great. I personally would not recommend the California roll as they did not make a true California roll but the yellowfin tuna and the Black Cod Miso were absolutely fantastic! There are other London locations and I would recommend going to one of them first to see if by chance the experience is a little more in line with the traditional experience. read more

Our Monday night experience at Nobu was MEH and only made it to A-OK thanks to attentive staff and management. The food alone would NOT have made it to A-OK. Going to Nobu for her birthday after the completion of The Championship (aka Wimbledon for folks that are not interested in tennis) is our friend's tradition. So we looked forward some treats. All three of us love sashimi, but for variety, we thought the seasonal tasting menu would be a good idea. Wrong! The tasting menu was MEH at best. I rarely had worse. And it is hard to get less value (£100 per person). The tapas size dishes were generally over-sauced. On the seafood starter plate had salmon, but - in my opinion - salmon doesn't belong on a sushi/sashimi plate (unless you are feeding kids that are afraid of raw seafood). The marinated hamachi was one of the few enjoyable bites. It would have been better without the marinade as I like to taste the ingredients. Do not get me wrong. We all love spice and spicy dishes. I mean extreme spicy as long as the spice doesn't cover the ingredients' taste. Here Nobu generally failed. It got worse with their Wagyu course. No idea where that old cow came from. There was no sign of tender fattiness that Wagyu is famous for. Just pieces that remind one of shoe leather: both in texture and taste (and I am only exaggerating slightly). It was time for a call to management. They actually brought us a replacement dish. A Peruvian style beef dish that was simmered rather than fried. It wasn't a great dish either, but the cooking method seemed to be more compatible with the beef they offered. The spice - a sauce that tasted a lot like tabasco from a bottle - didn't really agree with beef. The manager said that it is a traditional Peruvian spice. If true, I conclude that I do not like Peruvian spice. Frustrated with the food so far, we ordered a few pieces of sashimi and finally Nobu didn't mess up. Mackerel and o-toro were excellent. The scallops might be good for the location, but living in New England spoiled us, and therefore cannot win awards. The razor clams were out. Otherwise, the fish choices seemed pedestrian. Mackerel and o-toro are the winners. On the beverage side, I asked about their Daiginjo. Our waitress said that the Daiginjo is very bland and she recommended one of their other dry sakes, Onigoroshi (at half-price). As I was hesitating, she offered to bring us two cups to try. The recommended sake was not bad, but had too many strong flavors with a hint of a bitter, chemical aftertaste. We stuck to the Daiginjo and were very happy after three large carafes for three people. The standard Nobu Daiginjo has a typical, clean, delicate Niigata flavor. Definitely done right! This is our regular lunch place, it could be a good place for people spotting at night rather than the lunch when we were there. But as we can expect from Nobu, it's quality. We usually order bunch of sashimi and beef tenderloin and eggplant followed by sushi. All the sashimis are excellent especially sea bass sashimi dry miso and seared salmon Karachi sumiso. I tried crispy seaweed cup instead of crispy rice with spicy tuna and it was excellent. If you have a room at the end, chocolate bento box is the must. read more

What's in a name? Well here I think they are hanging on to just that. For me this was an average experience and not all worth the price. The dining room is tired and in need of a remodel. I felt like I was at a wedding with chairs that had been supplied by a rental company. The service was okay, not very friendly. The sushi was good but not great. You cannot demand exceptional prices and not deliver greatness. The tacos are a joke, no bigger than a wonton. The sashimi salad was the highlight of my meal, not for the fish but because the greens and the dressing were fantastic. Lastly, the toro and crispy rice was rather unimpressive, in fact the presentation reminded me of cat vomit. The crispy rice cubes were good, but I would not order it again. Beware outrageously bad experience! The first impression walking into the foyer was nice and pleasant, however coming upstairs the atmosphere felt like a cafeteria with ridiculously overpriced food. Firstly the water was served in dusty/dirty glasses. Asked for new ones and got only one new glass since the waiter already poured some of the water into the other dusty glass. We weren't offered the summer lunch menu and had to ask for it ourselves. Then it took over 35 minutes waiting for the food. The waiter came to the table and said the chicken main is being made and it takes time and asked if we wanted some edamame in the meantime, which we said ok to. Bento box was then served separately and the other party had to wait further for their food. The waiter then came to the table and said "chicken was being made and plated now and will be served in a minute". It took another 10 minutes after that until the chicken main was finally served. The food was very average for the pricing of the restaurant and chicken was completely overcooked, edamame excessively oversalted, skin on the cod was soggy and gluey, vegetables with rice had no sauce and were completely dry. Meal itself was completely underwhelming. When we were going to pay we noticed the charge (of 8£) for the edamame. When we enquired about it, meaning that it was offered as an apology for delays in the kitchen, the waiter denied offering it for free, disagreed and made us pay for it anyway. The service was horrible on multiple levels. We further on did not want to pay the service charge as it stated on the receipt that it was optional, but we were denied the possibility to omit paying it. Went for my birthday dinner and loved everything. We had the "classic" omakase, which consisted of a good balance across starters, cold dishes, hot dishes and a dessert. Everything was fresh and flavourful, particularly the signature miso cod. Ambience was nice and modern, though it did get quite noisy toward later in the evening. I wish it had a bit more of an exclusive and quiet feel to it but otherwise, enjoyed the simple yet posh environment. Service was spot on. Came here on a Saturday afternoon just as it opened, and there were plenty of tables available. I had the set lunch menu with 2 apps, 1 main, 1 dessert. For my 2 apps, I got the sashimi selection and tuna tataki; I got the teriyaki for my main, and there was only 1 option for dessert. Everything was fine and the service was not bad. It's not worth the price, but then again you don't come here expecting to eat the amount you pay for. I was worried the hosts would be very snobby but that wasn't the case. I'm giving it 3 stars because really the food and service don't stand out; I'm glad I was able to try the infamous Nobu but I probably won't come here again until I start earning my meager accounting salary. read more

We had to try Nobu while I'm London. I was very familiar with the Nobu in Malibu both at the old location and the new one on the beach. This Nobu doesn't have the stunning view or the paparazzi out front like the Malibu location but the menu was the same and the service was excellent We sat at the bar and had the wonderful peppers and tempura. "Good evening and welcome to Nobu London..." Yeah, right! I didn't feel welcome at all. At Nobu London you can reserve a table, but for a maximum of two hours. This is the new generation of fast food. Literally. "Would you like some *something unintelligible*?" Some what? "Oh, you haven't been here before. Eh, what do you usually like to eat?" My sister says that she likes spring rolls and tempura maki. "Nice, something more?" We actually have to ask if it's possible to wait for the last one (me, I came a few minutes late) before ordering, and maybe have a look at the menu. When I arrive they start filling up our glasses with water. That we pay for. You take one sip and they're all over you filling up your glass again. And again. And again. "Do you want another one?" So, food then. We decide to order a wide range of sushi, meat, green beans and spring rolls to share. After giving our order she suggests ordering a main meal for each of us as well, because it won't be enough. We have to convince her that we'll start with this, and then see. Ordering a couple of beers and a coke as well. Beer is thrown into the glass with no control, I've rarely seen that much foam. And they continue filling up all the time. Just to get rid of it. So we can order some more. And now the food starts arriving. First some sushi. At least the food isn't the worst I've ever tasted. That's something. Moving the last piece of sushi from the plate, and they're all over us again removing the plate. It happens again, and again. They even ask if they could take out those we haven't finished yet. We're kinda wondering if this is a comedy show with hidden cameras. At least not a restaurant where you have to pay £3.50 for rice in an espresso cup, and where a dinner for three adults and a child, without starters or dessert, costs £160. Remember that we ordered little food. Yet we were all satisfied. We would like to have some dessert, though. But not here. Paying was an exciting process. Just by putting the credit card at the table we got the bill, and seconds later the payment machine. "Insert your card here, please". We had to persuade her to let us look at the bill first. No option whether you wanted to pay the service charge or not, even though the bill stated this opportunity. Before leaving for dessert at Hard Rock Café I had to go to the toilet. Straight forward, to the right, in through some doors who made me wonder if I was heading toward a submarine or space ship. Then down some stairs and through a couple of corridors. Oh, there it is! If you're a man at least, women has a few more stairs to take. After doing what I had to, I went to wash my hands (of course). Oh, another Nobu-employee. Thanks for showing me how to turn on the water, I wouldn't find out myself. Yeah, I know how soap dispensers works as well, thanks dude. And even before I got the soap off my hands he stood there with the towel up in my face. If I want another one? Does it look like I would need another one. Don't think so. And then you want money? Here is a pound, hope you're happy! So... finding my way back is the next mission. I wasn't aware that I came here for a labyrinth adventure, but that's how it turned out. After taking some stairs, I try a door. Oh, hi dude. "This is wrong way" We take one more stair before trying again. Old flowers, meeting rooms and an elevator. Guess it's wrong again. After walking up and down the stairs trying some doors we found our way out of the labyrinth. Finally out of this place we're heading down the street for a dessert at Hard Rock Café. We ordered all the usual stuff: beef tataki sashimi(uni/toro/hamachi/scallop/abalone/cuttlefish/wagyu/ etc)- very fresh sashimi salad rolls - avocado roll and tuna roll (the kids loved them) salmon avocado hand roll - substantial and bigger than expected black cod - cooked perfectly wagyu w/truffle Worth it, however there's other places also worth trying. There's no way around it: Nobu has the best Japanese food I have (yet) had in London. All the fish is so incredibly delicious, so flavorful and perfectly cooked/not cooked/marinated/spiced....just absolutely divine. My favorite dishes: -Raw oysters: Seasoned perfectly with a delicious, light, sauce. Not to mention the presentation of the dish was gorgeous. -Yellowtail sashimi: I've had a LOT of yellowtail, and this was the most incredible yellowtail I have ever had. BOTTOM LINE: Whilst it *definitely* ain't Kaji (Toronto) in terms of quality or creativity, the dishes are solid (but not mind-blowing) and the price factors in star-gazing opportunities. Cost: -£63 (~$101 CAD at time of writing) for the standard seven-course omakase (tax & mandatory 10% tip included). Atmosphere/Decor: -I sat at the bar where I could watch the chefs work, and whilst they were all solid (some more than others), none could compare to chef Kaji. Whilst I realize that these guys have to prepare for more people, it just makes you appreciate how much time and care chef Kaji places into its few. Sorry if this review is turning into an indirect one for Kaji Sushi. :P Ordered: -There's your standard menu where you can order individual items and a choice of two omakase: the standard £55 one and the more "creative" £65 one. I ordered the standard one: 1. Tuna tartare with special peach - The tuna was fresh, but perhaps the best part was the peach! 2. Tuna salad with shrimp - The dressing was a bit strong and hid the flavour of the tuna, and the shrimp looked and tasty somewhat bland. 3. Black cod miso - Everybody seems to rave about this as the *BEST* thing ever, and whilst it's well done, I just don't understand the hype. Many standard Chinese restaurants can steam / grill all kinds of fishes that are just as good. A nice touch was the tasty rod of white ginger. 4. Scottish beef tataki - As per its name, the beef was nicely seared on the outside and placed on a sizzling plate with fresh asparagus and enoki / shitake mushrooms. The sauce was much too salty for me, but it was interesting to eat different slices of beef at various levels of 'well-doneness". 5. Sushi platter - Standard sushi with nice rolls made from soft shell crab and asparagus. 6. Miso soup - Does this really count as a course? 7. Cappuccino icecream - You can't really go wrong with this! -As a side note, I tried Nobu Miami a few years ago and it was good to see my favourite dish - yellowtail with jalapeno - still on the menu. I've LOVED Nobu!! I was taken there for my birthday treat and it really was a treat!! We arrived on a Tuesday lunchtime so it was fairly quiet and were seated immediately. Prior to entering the restaurant, you can give your coats and bags to the cloakroom and then go up the stairs to the main restaurant. When we sat down we were given a choice of still or sparkling water (however I would've just gone with tap but I felt too shy to say at the time) and given a drinks and food menu. To drink, I ordered a summer breeze cocktail (vodka, prosecco, raspberries and soda) which was really light and refreshing whilst my boyfriend ordered a virgin Mojito. The cocktails came fairly quickly and were really good! When ordering we had a few bits that had caught our eye, however I asked the waitress her opinion. She was very knowledgeable and when she saw that we were ordering two dishes which had various tempura bits in, she said that she would arrange for them to arrive at separate times which was nice of her. We ordered the Chicken with Teriyaki Sauce and Tempura which came with salad, rice and miso soup and that was delicious!! The chicken was extremely tender and the sauce was sweet and not too sticky or dry. We also had the octopus jalapeño which was slices of cold octopus in a jalapeño sauce. I thought that it was different but I liked it. Very tasty. Next there was Lobster Tempura with a Creamy Wasabi sauce and that was absolutely divine! The creamy wasabi sauce complimented the lobster and wasn't over powering. Definitely my favourite dish so far. We couldn't go to Nobu without having sushi so we ordered the California with Crab & Avocado Inside Out cut roll and it was really tasty. I've never had crab sushi before but it was great. For pudding we shared a Chocolate Bento Box which had a flourless chocolate fondant with almond ice cream. The menu stipulated green tea ice cream but I asked if we could change it and the waitress was happy to oblige. It was delicious but very rich. In hindsight I should have ordered something fruitier! Our experience @ Nobu London was pretty disaster. Don't worry about Nobu London, there are better high end sushi restaurants in London. Just look at the picture I uploaded, the sashimi was pretty unappetite, the toro are fat toro but it wasn't a very nice piece and presentation was just so so. I had been to other Nobu & Matsushiha in Beverly Hills, by comparions Nobu London was a disaster. Services was ok, it was very slow and under attended during our visit but it doesn't bother me too much since I am very busy checking out all the high fashion people. Seen and be seen is the only positive star I can think of. Don't worry about the bill, it's expected you are weathly to dine there, 100 pounds per head minimum, we wasted closed to 300 pounds for 2 there and I wasn't rich, it was a mistake ! BTW, how come only people from the US write about Nobu London, no one from London writes about them. Either they know it's a place to avoid or this place is really a trap for tourist ... especially from the US of A. :-) read more

My experience here was nothing spectacular unfortunately. Being sushi snob myself and having visited other Nobu locations (NY, LA, etc.) many times, I had to say this place did not meet my expectations. I don't usually order stuff from regular menu and it works just fine at other Nobu locations, but the server here had no idea what I was trying to order. I asked to speak to one of the Japanese chefs and the issue was immediately solved. Still the sushi I had was nothing special. Nobu has always been on my to try list. However, as London has so many restaurants, I finally got around to it on an opentable deal (4 courses for 49 pounds). I was excited to finally go. Then I went to the wrong Nobu. I went to the flagship store on Berkley Street only to realized that my deal was at a different location on Park Lane. When I finally arrived at the restaurant, I was disappointed, as it looked quite plain and we even only had those one time use chopsticks. I ignored it all, as I was anticipating a great meal. Then it turned out to be a very OK experience. The four course we had were sashimi starter, assortment of sushi, tempura and then chicken with Teriyaki Sauce. I was expecting a lot more from Nobu, or at least a little twist or something different. If these were the dishes I want to eat, I would have gone to a local Japanese restaurant. I felt it was totally pedestrian. I understand that usually restaurants don't tend to put their best dishes in set menu deals, but come one, maybe just one awesome dish to make me want to come back and try the regular menu. We decided to try walking in for a Saturday night and was fortunate to get a table (2 of us). Definitely was skeptical due to the loud music and fancy decors, would the food let us down? Fortunately the legendary Nobu lived up to the hype. The scallops were fantastic and some of the best we've ever had. Fresh, sweet and all the flavours on the plate complimented each other. Specifically the kelp was a textural and flavourful delight. All the sushi we ordered was fresh and very well prepared. Even the pork belly was delicious, with great texture on the skin and flavours coming through the preparation. The pricing was reflective of the Mayfair location and Nobu fame. Well worth it however for a special time or you wanted to treat yourself. read more

Great food - consistent with Nobu anywhere in the world. Good service. Good bar selection. Although it would be nice if the bar had high stools, or bistro style tables with high stools. While you're waiting on your table or for the rest of your party, you're practically sitting on the floor on the very low stools, which I didn't love as a tall person. Also, the signage to the restrooms are slightly lacking. And if you use them on the way out, expect to get lost when you exit on the floor below and have no idea where you are relative to where you entered, unless you're a regular. Aside from some tuning on the venue, the sushi is good, fresh, tasty, and well plated. It's Nobu - you can't leave feeling too disappointed. read more
