I'll put it up front. The price was high for dinner omakase. That said, the expectation was high as well. It fell a bit short on a few axis. Only half the dishes were creative and fun. The other half was what you would expect from most mid-quality sushi places. Flavors were good. But I was expecting each dish to be fun and different and flavorful. Maybe one or 2 dishes to be a traditional, what you would expect, sushi place dish. I wanted a good sake to pair with our foods. The waiter didn't really toss out any recommendations and when asked, said they were all good. I'm sure they are....but at least come prepared to have a recommendation or two. The restaurant itself was nice and felt like a good set up. Some tables were more intimate than others. It was a bit pounder than I expected. Lots of shouting and banter everywhere. Felt more like a nice restaurant than a high end experience. Being overly critical here because this is a very pricey place and one would expect the price to reflect the food and the experience. I believe it fell short of the price. Not really by a landslide but enough to chalk this place up to a novelty. Go once. Experience it. Then tell your friends you did it.

Nobu London at this location was where I learned to love sushi 23 years ago. The freshness of the sushi was the main factor. Since then, I've been to Nobus in Milan, NYC's various locations, Malibu, West Hollywood, Newport Beach, the Indian Wells BNP Tennis Tournament pop-up and Honolulu. My absolute favorite is still at this location because they still have the anticucho steak that we can't get in the US as an entree. Love our usual dishes of yellowtail jalapeño, new style sashimi w/scallops, the soft shell crab roll, spicy tuna roll, tuna tacos, and mushroom soup. We didn't order the rock shrimp tempura and instead did the miso cod; made me realize why I don't like the cod - you just feel ugh after a few bites but more of a personal preference vs. how it was cooked. The dessert is always their weakest link and remains that way. I had this mango dessert that was like a trifle in this impossible vessel - had to empty it of the sponge cake to get to the rest of the dessert. Just have the mochi ice-cream if you want dessert.

Thank you, Nobu, for the most amazing birthday experience from the moment I booked a reservation to the end of my meal. The staff was fantastic and patient with me explaining everything. I was nervous being a party of one, and they made me feel so special with the card and dessert birthday wishes. I will definitely return on my next visit to London. The ambiance was really nice. I was seated in the perfect location and well attended to.

Ate at this Nobu last week, it was my first time eating at a nobu and they definitely left a good impression. We ordered the newstyle salmon sashimi, salmon sushi rolls, salmon crispy rice, wagu sliders, the wagu steak and all plates impressed everyone at the table. The service was good and the ambience was nice and classy. The only negative side of our dinner was that we wanted to order the wagu dumplings but the kitchen was out, besides that we were very impressed.

Nothing wrong with the place. Nice enough and very social place that heats up around 9pm on Monday night but food was below average in quality. Just a bit too chain and mass produced. Find someplace with a better sushi chef. This was the place 25 years ago not today.

I went to a few places, and finally got seated at Atari-ya. With 45 mins left before the movie and a hungry belly, we managed to chow down some really yummy Japanese food. If we were to say purely based on food quality, I'd give it a 3.5. Food quality is very fresh, but the presentation /cut of fish is a bit "fast-food-ish", not top notch. Based on price/quality/quantity comparison, I think it's a perfect Japanese place for a hungry belly without breaking the bank. However, the most impressive thing is their fast and quality service. Water fill? no problem. more ginger? Ok coming right up. Ponzu sauce? Right away! Bomb!

We should not still be hungry after spending £30 per head on a sushi/sashimi platter each. They were described as 'large' but we both needed an extra snack on the way home! There are so many other alternatives that overshadow here in both quality and price.

The price is much higher than other takeaway sushi, including Waitrose's Sushi Daily. It was fine and did admittedly taste fresher and better than Wasabi and Itsu. The portion of fish was also more generous in terms of the salmon to rice ratio. Ultimately though I thought the rice was just...very bland. I like sushi rice to be seasoned with rice vinegar and sugar and this was not. It fulfilled my sushi craving for lunch but I wouldn't get it again. Also, the set I got I thought was on the better end "value" wise. Their sushi ends up getting pretty pricey depending on what you get.

The imaginatively titled Sushi & More served up the basics of what we were jonesing for on a Friday night in London: rolls, tempura, edamame for the kiddo. I thought the service was friendly -- they were planning to close at, like, 7pm, but the cook -- likely an owner -- threw together a special order for us. Their prices start from £5 for the main dishes. There is sushi, appetisers and Japanese soft drinks to go with your order as well. I went for the Chicken Katsu Curry (priced at £5.50) and it came in a bowl and the portion was good for it's price. The curry came quicker than expected so I assume that some of it is microwaved, but the food tasted good and the price was cheap so I don't expect the freshest but it can be misleading for some. They have started to do texting orders with that you can text them your order and collect it from the shop which is good to do if you are in a hurry. So a decent place if you want a cheap meal, but don't expect the best quality though.
