Rolandi's is hands down the best meal we had in Cancún. A welcome salvation after a string of abysmal meals elsewhe. We were greeted by the most beautiful hostess, wearing a smile that could stop time. She looked like she had stepped straight out of a Diego Rivera painting, her luminous skin glowing beneath the warm light, bold red lipstick blooming like a scarlet flower against a sleek black evening gown. Every feature seemed painted with deliberate confidence and striking contrast. Honestly, catching a glimpse of her was worth the visit alone. My family loves this place! Whenever we visit Isla Mujeres, we always enjoy having dinner here. The waitstaff was welcoming and very accommodating for my needs as a plant-based diner. They were attentive to our needs and checked on us regularly. The outdoor seating was lovely with the street performers and string lights. Inside was just as pretty with sky lighting and a fountain. My husband ordered rigatoni, my kids had their pizza and I enjoyed a vegano (vegan) specially requested pizza made without oil. It was delicious and fresh! Started with cheese sticks they were alright wouldn't get those again. I got the slided tomatoes with cheese. I make it better the basil was not chopped it was whole leaves. DINNER REVIEW While I am usually skeptical of the restaurants on the main drag in Isla Mujeres that are coaxing you to come in, Rolandi's was an overall good experience. We went around Christmas time and the interior was very festive with Christmas decorations. The interior is only matched by the quality and quantity of service. By quality, I mean that our every ask was quickly filled. By quantity, they had TONS of waiters. More than they needed. Which in turn led to high quality of service. You will first be served their "bread" which is more of a thin pita/pizza crust like concoction that comes fresh from the oven...WOW this is delicious. We made a mistake by not ordering several of these for the table. For my entree, I had the grilled salmon which came with fries. The salmon was cooked well and was well-flavored and the fries were very good (much better than I would have expected from an Italian restaurant in Mexico). The food (besides the bread) wasn't memorable which is why it doesn't get 5 stars but this is a solid place I would go back to. read more

Each time we visit Isla Mujeres, we always have a meal at Rolandi's. Years ago, before Isla became the tourist destination that it is now, Rolandi's was the premiere fine dining restaurant downtown. And even though today, with so much competition, it still holds its own. Beautiful, delicious food and excellent service. Our server, Ulises, has worked here for 22 years, starting when he was 15 years old. If you love Italian food, and amazing hospitality, treat yourself. I was the guest of a cantina owner that lives on Isla and he took me and my travel companion to pizza Ronaldi's for dinner. I have been coming to the island since I was a small child and loved that I could get pizza because I did not like the island food when I was little. Pizza Rolandi's is easily my favorite place on the island. This place reminds me of my childhood. The bread they bring you before your meal is amazing. When I went for dinner last night they prepared red snapper encrusted in salt, and it was hands down the best fish I have ever had. Pair it with a nice Mexican wine, a side of alfredo pasta, a beautiful atmosphere, great company, and attentive staff, and it's my favorite place on earth to be. You should go here. read more

As we walked up and down Hidalgo we always noticed a good sized crowd at Rolandi's, so one night we decided to stop in and try their pizza. It was not all the impressive. First we were sat outside which is where we wanted to sit, but it took forever for a server to greet us and get our drinks for us; by the time he came around we were ready to order too. We ordered the pepperoni pizza which was good, but not restaurant quality. It was like the crust was frozen and stuff just thrown on and baked. We wanted more drinks, but the server never came back to our table. Finally we waved down a different server and asked for the check. We paid the check and left, never seeing our server after our initial order. read more

My first trip to Isla was in 2004 and that's the first time I ate at Rolandi's. Didn't expect to have one of the best Italian dishes I had ever eaten, but I did. Love Spaghetti Bolognese, so that is what I ordered. Maybe it was the fact I was on vacation and having a great time on Isla, but the Bolognese was,,,excellent! Have been fortunate to spend 45-50 days on Isla at this point and I have had the same dish at least once every trip. Had it again last night. Kind of amazing to me the sauce always tastes the same; consistently great! The bread they serve with your meal is a cross between a thick tortilla and a pita, except it is puffed up (see photo). Very good and toasted perfectly. I always sit outside at the tables on the street. Atmosphere is great, and because this street is "restaurant row", there is a lot of foot traffic which makes for good people watching. By the way, the restaurant is listed as Rolandi's Pizzeria, that is a bit deceptive as they have an extensive menu. If you go, hope you have a great experience too! read more

Went here for dinner, they're open late and accept credit card which is great because I was low on pesos. Free bread with every meal that came out piping hot from their stone fire pizza oven. I'm a sucker for fresh bread and butter so I was a happy camper. I got the linguine with clams and wine sauce and it was delightful! The dish was loaded with clams, like the most clams I've ever seen in a dish, awesome! The BF got chicken Alfredo and it was really tastey, the chicken was very tender and sauce was rich and delight! El primero ceviche in todo el mundo... We ate at Villa Rolandi daily during our honeymoon on Isla 15 years ago. The carpaccio was legendary. We returned today for lunch hoping it would be as good as we remembered, and were blown away. Carpaccio de pescado, ceviche, wood fired oven baked Langosta. Wow. All delicately spiced to perfection. The lobster was baked with crushed garlic lime and Parmesan. I have never had lobster prepared this way and it was mind blowing. I stopped by this restaurant for lunch on a recent trip to Isla Mujeres. We wanted to eat something different than Mexican food for a change. When we were seated, we noticed how much the restaurant looks like an old restaurant that you would go to in Little Italy in New York City (where I'm from). I meant that as compliment. :) I ordered the lasagna with a glass of sangria. The lasagna was delicious but the sangria tasted like a spritzer (very watered down). Not what I'm used to. We ordered the 4 cheese fettuccine, the margarita pizza and the dinamita. The dinamita had onions, tomatoes, and garlic on it which gave the pizza some flavor. The margarita was just a pizza topped with lots of cheese and not much flavor. The crust had a little saltiness, which I enjoyed, but overall the pizza was disappointing. And the pasta was flavorless, it tasted like cream, nothing else. The whole experience was just average and we came here expecting great things. This place is good has what you expect from an italian place. It is one of the most expensive restaurants in the small island of Isla Mujeres, but you have a good meal. A couple of tips: 1. They give you courtesy bread and its great! So no extra need in ordering a side of bread. 2. Pizzas are sharable. Its like 8 slices, so unless you can finish that order for 2. 3. If you are looking to watch a game or something, they only have a small TV and no sound, so not your best bet. 4. Around 8pm there is a Mayan show right in front of Rolandis, so make sure to catch it. Its free, just tip them. They eat fire! Quite amazing. 5. Rolandi's was awesome! While walkin through the flea market in the heat, we were dying for some a/c and drinks so picked the first appealing establishment we laid our eyes on. Rolandi's happened to have the a/c and drinks we were searching for, as well as some fantastic margaritas; not the margarita mix sugar filled shit we have been getting in most of Cancun, but some straight up phenomenal/strong margaritas we've been searching for! I wasn't the least bit hungry so I stuck with a few margaritas and the fresh baked house bread. Indira also had a couple margaritas and then the minestrone soup, and it was excellent! I can't say much about the pizza or pastas, although I hear they were the best on the island, but our experience was exceptional! If you're looking for pizza, Rolandi's was the best we found during our stay on Isla (for reference we tried 2 other places as well). Their pizzas come in only one size and are perfect for 2 or 3 people to share. We also tried their ceviche and found that Rolandi's adds a nice Mediterranean twist without straying too far from what you're looking for or expecting when you crave ceviche. Everyone recommends this place as an upscale option but I could have lived without it. Pizza is wood fired but gets soggy quick. I ordered a simple salad with Italian dressing on the side. It was topped with a whole sliced greenish (should not have been served) tomato and -I'm not exaggerating - 1 cup of shredded carrot. How does one eat that? I dumped that onto a side plate and the salad underneath was edible - had some beets,cucumber etc. dressing was oily and bland so I used the balsamic from the table. A pita type bread comes as a free starter. (Has an undeveloped yeasty flavor I didn't care for, but hey, any fresh bread is always welcome. ) Service was like we were interfering with his day. It's a pretty restaurant and has air coolers so if that's important go here. We preferred Sonny's Pizza for the actual food. read more

Rolandis is so good. The bread they first bring out is excellent and unlike bread at the other restaurants on the island. For my meal, I got the salmon which was just bursting with flavor. The spinach and potatoes were perfect as well. For dessert, I had some of the best banana ice cream I've ever had. My mom also got the coconut ice cream with mango and nuts and it was easily the best coconut ice cream I've ever had. This place is a must if you're visiting the island! read more

Best food we've found on the island. Everything other than the shrimp cocktail (which wasn't bad, just not worth the price) was absolutely delicious. Started off with some incredible fresh warm bread and then on to prosciutto with melon and some octopus carpaccio, both of which were fantastic. The Caesar salad and house special pizza rounded out the meal along with a bottle of Prosecco. The caesar was perfect and the pizza was the closest my girlfriend has had since she was in Italy. A few other drinks at the beginning and digestive shots of fernet to end the meal for only $120 USD. Needless to say, we are going back while on this trip. read more
