She offers practical suggestions that actually work, and she takes the time to look for the root cause rather than just treating symptoms. I had been dealing with an illness for 10 years that traditional Western medicine specialists had not been able to solve. Dr. Torrens was relentless in trying to figure it out and she did! I have not felt this good in years! What I appreciate most is that she understands there is a place for both functional medicine and traditional Western medicine. She usually recommends a functional, natural-first approach, but when she sees an issue that needs to be addressed more quickly, she is not afraid to integrate conventional medicine in the treatment plan. When she does so, she will include natural remedies to help with side effects and to support the body during treatment. In my experience, functional medicine can sometimes look at the body through a wider lens, including specialty testing and approaches that may reveal patterns not always captured by standard medical testing. Dr. Torrens brings all of that together with patience, intelligence, and persistence. There is room in everyone's medical care for both traditional Western medicine and functional medicine. When used together, they can be incredibly powerful. Dr. Torrens is an excellent example of that.

Her knowledge of anatomy mixed with her precision adjustments have brought me so much relief. There is little as humbling as a back injury when it comes to throwing your world upside down and knowing I have someone to go to for help is already something that heals me. Adjustments are done in about 30 minutes and they have tables that move up and down as well as pressure guns. They also offer massage therapy but I've yet to try that. Location is in an older office building but the waiting room is clean and even has a kids corner my children have used. Love that it is located on Cal Ave.

And this was only the beginning : our son proved to be the best at catching any virus around and transforming it into something "better". Lisette treated him of double ear infection when 7 month old, pneumonia when 9 month old, a very nasty stomach flu around 2, and so on. With this particular virus he felt pretty sick and he begged me to take him to the Good Witch :) Since then we keep dearly calling her so because we feel like whenever there is an illness around, she would work a magic spell and our conditions rapidly improve. Besides all of the common viruses that we experienced during the years, she successfully addressed our older son's migraines, and both kids' seasonal allergies or our digestives issues or hormonal imbalances. Even to an emotional level, when we faced challenging situation that put us under stress we turned to her and with no exception she was able to find the right remedy to help regain balance. And it's not only about all the viruses, allergies, or other challenges but her approach, her patience, her calming and reassuring presence create a relaxing experience that help us open up rather than worry !!! Inspired by Dr. Payrovi's personal journey to reverse multiple sclerosis with lifestyle medicine, I took her courses to address the some root causes of my health issues (https://stanfordhealthcare.org/events/inside-out-8-weeks-to-a-healthier-you.html) and evidence-based approaches to Integrative mental health (https://stanfordhealthcare.org/events/evidence-based-approaches-mental-health.html) in-person and online before and during the pandemic for a few years. While I wasn't the most disciplined at implementing her recommendations, which were more actionable than my typical "evidence-based medicine" doctors and incorporated feedback from her patients, I noticed my vitals improved with lower heart rates (even with minimal exercise except walking), more energy from better sleep, and less stress with a few minutes of mindfulness each day. Given the conflicting info online that confuses me, her step-by-step guidance, ranging from assessments of produce and water quality to what to eat in moderation with more variety from having diverse colors, supplemented with specific vitamins and minerals, was incredibly valuable. Even though I'm no longer her patient (due to moving too far and out of her insurance network), she still cares to help with checking in and local resources. More importantly, she is open-minded to try combining experiential physical, mental, and social activities, ranging from individual meditation chants to group dancing even online. She also tailors her medical visits in the form of courses for general health and specific ailments, ranging from autoimmune diseases to cancer. Your health is priceless. Once you lose it, it's hard to restore it. Words can't describe how grateful I am to have met her, thanks to my endocrinologist referring me to her when she could no longer prescribe drugs that compromised my immune system. I likely wouldn't have survived this long without her holistic and actionable approaches to improving my health from the inside out with simpler, cost-effective, and more impactful remedies than relying solely on drugs, which are curative and warranted in some cases, such as infectious diseases.

Dr. Potter is one of the most knowledgeable and kind doctors I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and being a patient of. I must admit, before I met Dr. Potter I was a little sketchy about homeopathic remedies and alternative medicines etc. In fact, I think on our first meeting I might have said something about "damn hippies". But Dr. Potter's warmth and honestly was very refreshing especially since I was used to the "box medical practices" (cough cough KP cough) She takes the time to actually listen to your concerns and offers you not only a healing solution but a COMPASSIONATE solution. For example, my son and I have a very rare allergy (ascorbic acid). You can imagine how much fun it is when we catch a simple cold. With no vitamin C a cold can last for weeks. Our doctor at the box medical practice pretty much had written us off saying there was nothing we could do, basically just suffer through it! Dr. Potter gave us alternatives that would help relieve our symptoms WITHOUT hives!!! She listened and was not judgmental at all. Whenever I have a question, ranging from stupid to serious, I can just email her. She takes all questions and puts me at ease. I don't have to feel embarrassed to ask anything, I can just put it out there and help is there. If I could give her infinity stars I would, but alas yelp will only allow 5. :) I would recommend Dr. Potter to anyone who wants to have a beneficial relationship with their doctor because when you know that your doctor actually cares and sees you as a person and not a medical file number then all the difference in the world has been made. Even my son loves to see her. Seeing his face light up when the doc is near is all the convincing I need. GO! You will NOT be disappointed!!!

She took detailed information and concerns of mine. She was able to put in bloodwork I needed to the lab but I was able to take her recommended lab work to have my doctor put it in so that some of the lab work would be covered by insurance. The lab work is much more extensive than the basic lab work your traditional doctor does for you. Her lab work was able to have her give you recommendations on supplements and diet. The lab work is an eye opener to seeing how unbalanced my body was. Just before having the vaccine, she instructed me on what tinctures to take prior to having the vaccine so that wouldn't have any or mild side effects. The first two vaccines I took the tinctures and I barely had any symptoms. When the booster came out and I completely forgot about taking the tinctures, I had a headache and was tired for two days. I won't forget to take this going forward now. If you're looking for a naturopathic doctor, I highly recommend Dr. Kizzy Raphael where ever you are located. She does a wonderful job working with patients virtually. Her attention to detail and her eagerness to want to resolve your health issues makes her a vital part of your wellbeing.

Dr. Kizzy has helped me obtain a quality of life I didn't think was possible. I had lost faith in…read moretraditional doctors, having been told countless times from more doctors than I can remember that "I'm fine". I'd been through Kaiser, PAMF, Sutter Health; nobody would listen and nobody would help. I felt so hopeless, defeated and truly sick. I was experiencing debilitating fatigue, excruciating pain in my tailbone, extreme nausea, issues with overactive bladder, blood in my stool, a swollen abdomen, weight that I couldn't lose no matter what I tried ...the list goes on. Every day was a struggle and every day I felt so unwell, and there was no explanation. The nausea has been affecting me for over 30 years. The final straw that pushed me to find help outside of what my insurance would cover, was testing positive for colon cancer at 46. I didn't really have the money to seek alternative care, but feeling like I was on the brink of death motivated me to reprioritize my life and figure it out. I found Dr. Kizzy out of sheer desperation. I chose her because of the reviews I read. I could write pages and pages about how wonderful she is, but to summarize, I feel amazing! I don't have colon cancer. I was completely misdiagnosed by Kaiser. They kept running the same tests over and over. They refused to deviate and expand the parameters of their testing even though I wasn't getting better. They told me my ailments were all in my head. Dr. Kizzy was able to determine I had SIBO (small intestine bacterial overgrowth), H.pylori (very common, from food poisoning) and that my adrenal gland function was extremely low. I've been a patient of Dr. Kizzy for a little over a year now and for the first time in my entire life, I'm ok. I will be forever grateful for her help! She actually listened and cared. · Debilitating Fatigue - Dr. Kizzy treated my adrenal gland function, and I have so much energy now! · Excruciating Tailbone Pain - It was from chronic stress, which led to pressure and muscle tension in my pelvic floor muscles. She recommended an amazing therapist (Taryn Weinkam, PhD) who helped me release the trauma I've been holding onto for so many years. My pain is gone! · Overactive Bladder - It was my body's response to being in a constant state of "fight or flight". The therapy helped with this as well, it's no longer an issue. · Extreme Nausea - It was from H.pylori. Nausea is one of the main symptoms. If Kaiser or Sutter had run a simple test, this could have been diagnosed decades ago. My nausea is completely gone. · Swollen Abdomen & Bloody Stool - Both of these were from SIBO and both are no longer present. · Excess Weight - SIBO contributed to this, but so did the feeling of hopelessness. I credit both Dr. Kizzy and therapy. Our bodies react to our mental state. I've dropped 30 lbs and fit back into clothes I never thought I'd be able to wear again. There is really something to that whole "mind, body, spirit" thing. I highly recommend Dr. Kizzy!
