The carpeted wall goes around the entire rink which is great for us beginners as many rinks don't have the full wall. The arcade is expansive and there is an indoor jungle gym for younger children. My avid skating friend shared that the music played at this roller rink has a better vibe with classic upbeat pop and a mix of newer songs such as Chappell Roan compared to roller rinks that are further north such as the Troy and Waterford area.

If you are attending a hockey game here, the main things you want to be aware of are: 1) It's freezing inside. Even by ice arena standards, it's quite cold and there is no radiant heating system. Bring some gloves and a blanket. 2) The lighting is just so-so, but the sight lines are great. Plenty of good seating and standing options. 3) Quality of ice is very good, benches are clean and decent sizes. 4) Locker rooms are tiny, a Pee Wee or larger team is going to need 2 rooms (adjoining rooms share a shower). This rink is home to a few famous players, most notably Tim Thomas and Brian Rolston among other, mostly college players. I was an amazing rink when it was built, but now it's mostly just a community rink with a snack bar, skate rental, etc. I don't think it has Live Barn, but it did have wifi.

Highlights include interactive water features, food concessions, and restrooms. They're open every day from 11:00am-7:00pm. The fun fountain is available Memorial weekend thru Labor Day weekend. The splash pad/fountain becomes an ice rink in the winter months. It's a small open skate rink, no hockey, no extensive skating such as figure or speed. Mostly kids and not really worth the journey. Unless of course you love strapping the blades on for an out door effect. The lingering winter months have created the perfect atmosphere to spend quality time at the City Square Ice Rink. A positive experience for friends and family awaits you. Especially, if you enjoy the outdoor element. As close to a pond as living in the city will allow. Don't worry if you don't own ice skates, rental skates are available at the rink! General admission is $5, and skate rental is $3. UPCOMING SPECIAL DATES: on February 10th, boys skate free! Employees are always smiling and they seem genuine that they love their job. The rinks itself are rather cold, but it's to be expected if you're watching a hockey game after all. I recommended a hoodie and a blanket if you're watching from the stands (which aren't that comfy, let's be honest!) An arcade is on site if you're here for a party and the cafe is filled with snacks to help your grumbling stomach. Cash only though!
