I took my 4grand daughters on April 1. Started off a great experience until a family came in with boys around 8 years of age. They were out of control. Throwing items from the grocery store, climbing and jumping on things , hitting each other with animals from the vet center, taking the mail from post office and throwing all over. Parents on cell phones not watching. When I informed staff member so no one got hurt, she acted like it was no big deal. We left because I didn't want my grandchildren to get hurt beca of this allowed behavior in the museum. What a shame that all staff sat at the desk chit chatting instead of stopping this behavior so everyone else could enjoy their day too. read more

This is a great little museum if you're in the Flint area, especially if you have younger children (maybe ages 2 to 6). Pros: This museum has lots of hands-on on, accessible activities. We've been a few times when visiting family in the area and my son (age 4) always finds something to do. His favorite area tends to be the little town play area, which has a kid's size fire truck, post office, grocery store and restaurant. There are also areas for reading, science-oriented exhibits and other hands-on learning experiences. During the summer they also have a fun outdoor area for kids to try additional activities such as water rocket launches. The staff is also very nice and prices are reasonable. Tip: if you live in the area and plan to go more than twice a year, definitely get the family membership. Cons: it's on the smaller side and could be a little less exciting for older children. Bottom line: Definitely a bright spot in the Flint area. A great place to spend a couple of hours, young children will definitely be occupied. read more

What a fantastic place! Indoor and outdoor fun for hours. I highly recommend packing a lunch and plan to spend several hours at this gem of a spot! My kids are 4 & 6 and I seriously wish I would have started taking them years ago. I live in a different state but have family in the area. At the time of writing this review, it had been 3 years since my family's last visit and, this time around, we had more fun than we did last time. Seeing the museum do so well after the lockdowns over the previous few years really made me smile. There is a lot for the kids to do here. Whether your child is a scientist in the making, a musician, or someone that likes to have a good time, there is something here for everyone. Try to plan your visit during a good weather day so you can go outside and have fun in the garden. The back exhibit was closed to construction when we went but we will go back in a month to see the new theme. This museum is a pearl in the city of Flint and is well worth your time to make a visit. Great museum for small children! There is a lot jam packed in a small building. We could've stayed longer than the hour - hour and a half we visited but we had already seen each exhibit and our youngest was getting cranky and in need of a nap. They have a room for parties. They have two small tables to eating, a water cooler, and hand sanitizer. There is a glider for nursing mamas behind a curtain but it's not really out of the way of anything / very private. It's still a nice gesture. We visited thanks to a gifted Groupon and will be back again if there's another Groupon, but probably wouldn't bother making the long drive for full price. read more

This place is absolutely adorable. It is geared towards smaller kids as there is a lot of imagination play. It was only $6 to get in and I found them on Groupon. This is the only museum I have found that had an outdoor hands-on exhibit. It was an hour drive for us and I definitely plan on returning! read more

This place is adorable! I took my 3 year old and he had a great time. The grocery store is by far the best that I have seen in a children's museum and my son spent 30 minutes in it. We also enjoyed the music rooms, interactive drawing board, and the pizzeria. It is slightly dated but my it's a great deal for the price. read more

I took my 3 year old daughter to the children's museum and she absolutely loved it. There were so many different activities for her to play, explore and interact with. She was able to go grocery shopping, work at the post office, be a veterinarian, act on stage, explore an evening camping trip in the forest and so much more. Even with all the indoor activities, there was another outdoor area the kids could explore as well. For a great price we were able to explore and be entertained for hours. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful too. We will definitely be going back many more times to come. read more

Not as great as the museums in Detroit but not bad. The parking is ok (you have to walk up a little hill to the front door but no big deal. My kids ages 1 to 6 love it here. There are better and larger Children's Museums in the state but this is fine and closer to us. Worth it. read more

A nice interactive museum geared toward children and families. They do a lot with what they have. It could use a few upgrades, but money is hard to come by these days for all museums. If you have kids, know a kid or are a kid at heart, then check it out! It's on a par with other similar interactive, hands-on museums geared toward young children and families. Admission is inexpensive considering the quality of the experience and the museum can be rented out for events, like parties and such. It often plays host to school field trips and large groups and the staff is very pleasant to deal with. I've taken my niece and nephew there when they were little and they rather enjoyed a day of discovery here. Overall, a Flint asset. read more

This place was amazing... I was even having fun in there. I wish we had more time to play but it is seriously like a kids dream. They have so much to do, you can spend a whole day there, inside and out (greenhouse, picnic tables, garden - all kid sized stuff). They have stations set up to be rooms that are special for kids, a playhouse that they fit in, a pizzeria that they can pretend to bake pizza in, a firetruck with hats and coats, an airplane, stagecoach, grocery store with kid sized shopping carts. Puppet show box, you name it This is the pretend palace. But there are also other interesting fun things to do - I just loved it and so did the kids, I can't wait to go back. The downside... the area. The other downside... the area and the ability to find the place. Street names have changed, but maps and GPS hasn't or vice versa. So, the downside, did I mention was the area/location? BUT -- the trip is well worth it, the price well worth it, especially if you spend a day there. We didn't even get to see whole place and the kids were beyond excited - they were going from here to there so fast that I couldn't keep up with them because I wanted to play too! Highly recommended! Super fun. Go during the week to avoid the large crowds. read more

I think this place has done a decent job considering what they have to work with. That being said when you compare it to other children's museums such as the one in Ann Arbor it really paints a picture of why flint is the way it is. If we spent a quarter of the money that we do developing new bars on our children's education flint as a whole would be a lot better off. Most of the equipment is 20 years old and has had multiple repairs to try and keep them alive. And most of the stuff serves no educational purpose. For instance the newest and best kept fixture is a playhouse like the ones you would buy at toys r us. How does that a child's development? Now all that said if you are just looking for something to do on a lazy afternoon this certainly beats taking the kids to mcdonalds play place. But if you want to take them somewhere fun AND educational take the hour drive to Ann Arbor and check out theirs. read more

The staff here are AMAZING. The exhibits are very clean and nicely maintained. They change them throughout the year too. My daughter loves coming here and it's one of our favorite things to do in Flint because it's interactive. We also love how they have a ton of community programming there too! This place is amazing! My grandsons, ages 10 and 7, loved it and wanted to go back. The admission price($6 per person) was very reasonable for the amount, variety and quality of activities. The young staff is very patient and friendly with the children. Favorite activities: shadow room, pizza restaurant, fire truck, rock wall, and the skeleton on the bicycle. Everything was fun and educational. At closing time, instead of rushing everyone out, they encouraged the children to help clean up. The parents also helped out creating a nice community atmosphere. The only complaint I could come up with is that one of the women at the front desk was a bit grumpy with my grandsons when she could have been friendly and encouraging. She sat behind the front desk during our visit, so all was good. Still love this place! Highly recommend! read more

Not at all what I expected.....Took our 5 year old grandson there for a Saturday afternoon, and the only thing that really kept his interest was the wooden fire truck and plastic house. Not educational, and we weren't really looking for an expensive place to have our grandson play with a wooden fire truck. I thought the price was exorbitant, and the displays completely lacking in educational value. Probably a great place to rent out for a birthday party - I think that says it all....it's a glorified Chuck-E Cheese. Next time, Ann Arbor. read more

Lots of fun. My sister rented the place out for her kids' birthday party. Nice idea! We had about 45 people and got our run of the place and a "party room" for about 3 1/2 hours. The stuff they have there isn't as new, shiny, or cool as an ipad but everyone (kids and adults) sure seemed interested for the time we were there. read more

This is an excellent hands-on museum for kids. Our daughter and her friends spent over 4 hours exploring the well-designed exhibits. They climbed the rock wall, shopped for groceries, conducted plays, ran the post office, and constructed LEGO's. The staff was very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. This place is not very good at all. The Detroit science museum is far better!! I visited his place with the family with a group deal. I wouldn't go back. The neighborhood is not great, the parking is very limited and the actually museum is not great. The best part is the grocery store for kids. read more

This could be a really cool place but its in a bad area with no parking. It felt very small and cramped but had a lot to offer inside. Why isn't this in the cultural center?? I say move it to the cultural center to be closer to the art Institute and whiting. read more

Very nice, small, interactive museum. My kids love it. Good for the price($6 per person)! Located near Kettering university, an elementary, and a police station so have never felt unsafe. Staff is friendly, space is clean, there is even an area where you can eat snacks you packed. Nice outdoor area for the kids to run too! Very happy this place exists! read more

We have been there when the grandkids were younger, about five years ago. I agree that, given the high admission price, there could be some upgrading in its future! What are you doing with the money? Why isn't there a person to look for additional funding through grants? The store is awesome but geared for a five year old. And I agree about the lack of parking. How do you expect to attract people with such limited parking ? And, I agree it's a horrific area of Flint. Is there nothing available to place a Children's Museum near the Cultural Area? Or buy out the abandoned houses for parking along Kettering Avenue If moving is not desirable. I just feel the Flint area could visit Ann Arbor and LEARN how to develop funding from their ideas. There are major Universities in Flint with Marketing Internships! Use them and allow creative, interesting ideas to make this place better than than it was 10 years ago! You are not being creative yet They Will Come if you fix the interest level! I am sorry but the Director needs to be more creative! read more
