The extra little bar sink outside the bathroom is a thoughtful addition (as is the mirror.) Our room looked out to the back with the river in sight. Lots of early morning fisherman parked in the lot but we didn't hear a thing. The bathroom was a good size and sparkling clean. Cute shower curtain with a dock/lake on it! Breakfast was serve yourself and they had a good assortment of bagels/english muffins/cereal/oatmeal/waffles. Coffee, tea, hot cocoa and milk (& maybe juice? I'm not a juice drinker). There is a pool as well as a conference center here too. They had a fireplace in the lobby plus some seating and games/books. It would be a good spot for sit if you wanted to be out of the room We'll be back to this little gem!

This treasure of a roadside inn is clean and comfortable, with an open, welcoming lobby and sitting/dining area, and each room is designed with a unique theme (we stayed in the "Music Notes" room flanked by other rooms such as "Lighthouse," "The Lodge," and "Ooh, La, La Paris.") Our music-themed room was adorned with a drum pendant light, guitars, artwork, etc., which inspired us to really look at and appreciate this space. And you know how hotels that care crisply fold the edge of the toilet paper roll? This place (in a first for me) folds edges into a rose. How cute is that? Pre-dogs, we used to stay at fine hotels, but The Four Seasons can't match this place for thoughtfulness and detail, dollar for dollar. One final note to travelers with dogs: green spaces along the River and a small neighboring park (Lions) offer a welcomed end-of-a-long drive romp for the dogs.

Now Fisher's Club is famous for their walleye dinners. So we locked in on that right away and ordered two of them. With it we ordered a glass of wine and an excellent Two Hearted Ale, IPA. Our salads were served and my wife loved her Orange Vinaigrette. I ordered their Blue Cheese dressing and did not like it. Not a traditional recipe, and likely not homemade. As we were eating our salads a group of locals sat down near us. All four of them quickly said - "Bring me the broasted chicken". Immediately I thought...Ooops, one of us should have ordered their chicken! When our walleye dinners arrived, we could see that the preparation of the walleye appeared to be the "shore lunch" style for walleye - a very popular style. Normally we would prefer a thicker cracker type crust. This appeared to have something like a semolina flour coating - good and crispy. But lacking, to our liking, in seasoning. So to sum it up, Fisher's Club is a quaint, very old establishment, with wonderful staff. If you're coming our recommendation is come for the chicken, not the walleye. There are some good challenges with water, sand, and fescue but nothing too wild or unfair. As it's fall, many leaves were off the trees but they were working hard throughout the day to get them off the playing areas. The front nine is more wooded and the back much more open. Green were in good condition (except for the leaves). Pretty course. Staff was nice. Had a dog at the turn which (I think) was from a local meat market and it was so good. Great stop.

It used to…read morebe okay, but two new additions within the past year have really bumped it up on my 'Like' list: the additional meeting space, and believe-it-or-not, the outside parking lot. Expanding conference space that is modern, clean, and functional is a no-brainer, and I'm so glad that St Cloud is keeping up with the times and keeping up with the growth. Even though I'd prefer to have meetings in the Cities, the clients my business serves are statewide, so outer Metro hubs like St Cloud, Duluth and Rochester are often utilized by the associations who put on the conferences. Putting up with the freezing cold in the exhibit hall a few years back while they were building the expansion. So now about that parking lot. In the past, there were probably 20 parking spots (Okay, that may be a bit extreme. There were probably 30.) that were shared with the Civic Center and surrounding businesses. You'd have to park underneath the Civic Center in a cold, old, scary parking structure. The nightmare actually came when all the trade show vendors packed up their booths and we had to wait in line to cram ourselves, booth and SWAG into one elevator to get to our cars. Not any more! I'd much rather park outside all day for $6.00 and just stroll out of the Civic Center and walk a short distance to my car. It's a piece of cake now! There's a 'skyway' that connects the Civic Center to Le St-Germain Suite Hotel (Really? St Cloud is a university town. Who are they kidding?), and many local businesses are within walking distance. (See also: Adventure Advertising, Meta 13 and Jules' Bistro) I have reserved parking spot #4 for me. Please don't park there when I'm in town.
