Instead of defaulting to another rebalance, Leo at Industrial Tire took a more thorough and thoughtful approach. They inspected all four tires, performed road force testing, and carefully evaluated what was actually happening. Leo quickly identified the real issue: one of the brand-new tires was defective and out of round. What really stood out was how clearly he explained everything. He showed me exactly how the tire was behaving, walked me through the diagnostic screen, and made sure I fully understood what to tell the original seller so I could get it replaced under warranty. He even marked the defective tire so there would be no confusion later. The entire interaction was professional, patient, and respectful. I never felt rushed, and it was obvious they genuinely wanted to solve the problem correctly rather than just perform a quick service. This time we had the truck in for an oil change and transmission service. That doesn't sound hard to anyone who remembers having room under the hood but today's pick ups have computer modules for everything and they stack and combine things that doesn't make sense to put together. In a Ford F-150 pickup the way to service the transmission requires dropping the oil pan (no sense at all) and is a bit complicated. They have the skills and knowledge to do any job you need done. B & S is O'Reilly's repair shop so if you have a problem related to service while on the road, you can take your vehicle to an O'Reillu's and have it fixed at no cost.

I reminded DJ that I had been quoted $40 (the top of his range) on the phone. He wouldn't honor the price quoted. I told him I would take my business elsewhere and had it done at Les Schwab for $36. To clear up any misunderstanding I phoned back later and explained my reticence to pay 40% above his quoted price. DJ sarcastically apologized for "charging $5 over the quote". I reminded him that the quote was "$30 - $40". His response was "whatever!" and he reminded me that after he made the quote I had mentioned a higher bid I had gotten from a competitor. Then it clicked -- he had raised the price because he thought I was clueless and he could get it. It had nothing to do with their labor or costs but was purely opportunistic. A rip-off, in other words. Roseburg could use a good independent mechanic shop with high values. Unfortunately, HIS Automotive services is not that. Very disappointing. They know how to talk the talk, but they don't walk the walk.
