Visiting friends in the area and staying in an wonderful little Airbnb down the street. The husband wanted pizza, a quick yelp brought to Roma. Friday about 5 the place was hopping. We ordered from the pre-made pizza counter in stead of from the menu. One slice of plain for me, two slices of Buffalo chicken for him. Pizza quickly reheated from a very matter of fact man behind the counter. Within a minute our pizza was heated, placed on paper plates and paid for. Found a table in the pick up area. Pizza slices were huge. One slice was more than enough for me. I have to say, the plain cheese was probably some of the best I've ever had (which is bizarre considering it was reheated). The crust perfectly thin, NY style. Sauce balanced that just added some flavor to the crust. Perfect amount of cheese that had just the right amount of grease! My husband's Buffalo had a really good flavor but had a touch to much sauce. When taking a bite the sauce oozed out and it was very spicy. If it would have had a little less sauce my review would have been five star. Bathrooms in need of attendance but again this place was extremely busy. Would love to stop by again for another slice today. A very affordable dining option for us. $13 for 3 slices and a large fountain beverage to share. A gentleman a few tables down had a cheesesteak and fries, again both looked above average. Ambiance was basically cafeteria style at the pizza counter, nothing special and I can't vouch for the actual sit down restaurant. read more

The servers here have always been kinda rude. Our last experience here the waitress wasn't very friendly and really seemed like she didn't want to be there. My drink was given to me with a butter paper on the side of it. I got the stuffed shells and they were hardly warm. About 40% of each shells was crispy and overcooked. The atmosphere was kind of awkward as there was no music or anything playing. We were given a highchair for my infant to use and it was covered in dried tomato sauce. The changing table was also disgusting. I had to wipe down the entire thing twice. The rolls used to be my favorite part of going but they must've changed the recipe. Tried Roma for the first time, and what can I say? It was AMAZING. I'm NOT a pizza girl by any means, but when I say the Grandma's pie transcends the meaning of pizza, I really mean it! Absolutely delicious, a little garlicky, and not too heavy, so it doesn't give you that heavy feeling afterwards. We tried the pierogies, as well, which were really tasty, even though I prefer the boiled kind sauteed with onions. I thjnk I'd still get these again! Our server was quick and knowledgeable. Super helpful when we ordered our pie, since it's not on the normal menu. Really casual environment. We ate upstairs next to one of the TVs, so we got to watch a game while we ate! First impression it seemed by to be a localized favorite. Recommended by the tour guide from the Yuengling Brewery in the very very small town of Pottsville, PA. Service is fast too. However, my daughter and I I both ordered strawberry mojitos for our drinks and the bartender didn't see fit to actually mull the mint leaves, he just kind of threw them in there lazily. I feel like this place is a hit or miss. I order from here a lot because it's nearby plus they deliver, which a lot of places don't do in this area. The pizzas are pretty good. Never had an issue. I like their chicken sriracha pizza and their white pizzas. I don't recommend ordering anything fried- chicken wings tend to always be soggy. French fries, chicken fingers, and jalapeño poppers on each occasion I've ordered them tastes like they haven't changed the oil. I've also had a chicken dish from them. The dish was fine except for one ingredient- the prosciutto. It tasted old, stale and dry and had almost a grayish color to it. I guess since they're a pizza place you should probably stick to ordering only pizza. read more

We have been customers for a very long time, and one thing we've learned is DO NOT SEND OUT for Roma Pizza. It's amazing how wrong someone can get an order. There was the time we ended up with a gluten free pizza (ack!!) and we figured this was a simple mis-delivery. There have been other delivery follies, including tonight's when my dinner was exactly wrong in not just one but many ways. Angel hair pasta is not penne (I ordered the former, got the latter.) I paid for broccoli, but unless it was invisible broccoli I didn't get broccoli. The pizza is a seven out of 10 the pizza was better when they were smaller place I would've gave it a 10 out of 10 but as they grew bigger, the quality fell, but it is a nice restaurant to go to and sit down and have a meal. I ordered a slice of Margherita pizza along with a slice of the stuffed cheesesteak pizza. The slices were large, and the crust was relatively thin. The Margherita was the clear winner of the two -- the cheese was delicious and was complemented by a flavorful sauce. The stuffed cheesesteak, on the other hand, was mediocre at best. While cheese was certainly present, it was overshadowed by a heaping amount of bland steak. There was a very light coating of marinara which did little to add to the flavor. Big fan of Roma Pizzeria. 4.5 stars worth of fan! Minus half a star for NO DELIVERY! However, if I had to drive around this hilly and curvy area, I might not want to deliver either. The store is fantastic, there is a traditional "pizza" area on the main floor and a bar\restaurant upstairs. The pizza area is a big glass counter with lots of pizza pies behind it ready for slices. They also have a dessert counter with some delicious looking cakes\pies. They are also baking their own chocolate chip cookies now which are AMAZING! 2 bucks for a BIG 6" cookie loaded with chocolate chips and chunks. Fantastic after a few slices, I highly recommend you get some to go! The menu is quite robust featuring many of the Pizza standards(Hoagies, Salads, Pasta, Steak Sandwiches) but they also have "specialty Pizzas, specialty salads, and specialty burgers! A nice selection of seafood\poultry and Short Ribs and Filet Mignon! Never had a steak there, but I want to one of these days! Lots of friendly people working here, the folks behind the counter are usually very helpful and friendly. Good experience with the servers too. Today 3/1/2021 I had several things to do in Pottsville plus, a Pawn shop, had some drum stuff I wanted to look at. It had been years, since I had been to Roma Pizzeria. I took my daughter, her boyfriend and, two of her friends there for lunch. We were sat by Allison. She was great! She worked tirelessly to bring our food, which was great! I hadn't been out fora meal so big, in over a year. Just locally, for a slice or two. I was amazed at, how good our meal was and especially, how good the service was. Allison, Elvis Costello must have had you in mind, when he thought up a name for the song. Thank you for the great service and, especially for your wonderful personality! I had lunch here today and it was pretty good. I had angel hair pasta with olive oil, garlic, and broccoli and a slice of Italian Lemon Cake. The pasta was pretty decent. Once I added some salt and Parmesan cheese, it was nice. The cake was outstanding! I am definitely going to miss that when I leave this town. The skook knows a thing or two about pizza and this longtime Pottsville dining establishment shouldn't be overlooked. The renovations are really nice too - perfect for lunch, dinner or happy hour at the bar. Nice touch on displaying your yummy desserts in the jewel case. They all look delectable. My favorite is the Italian lemon cheesecake. Customer service is polite and efficient - but at times still hit or miss. We went to this restaurant thinking it was lunch time only to realize it was beyond 4.00pm and my stomach started grumbling post the brewery tour located nearby. Parking: I think they have a parking lot which said it was private but we parked our car in the brewery lot coz we had a tour there and its a nice walk from the brewery to Roma's during the daytime. Maybe not recommended during the late hours. The streets are dark, too quiet and easily spooky. Inside: A neat upstairs with nice sofas and covers. Get the window seat! Food : Creamy burrata: We ordered creamy burrata as a small plate and a half and half pizza from the wood fired pizza options. Burrata came first and as the other yelpers recommend and agree, it was sooooooo good! It came in with a drizzle of balsamic vinegar, freshly chopped basil on the six bread pieces decorated nicely along the fancy bowl that they served in. Inside were the san marzanos (tomatoes more like cherry tomatoes) with the cheese ( mozzarella on the outside and inside was the soft cheese and cream I guess) and olive oil and balsamic vinegar mix. The raw garlic and onion almost gave a nice kick ( even causing heartburn later on ) but it was delicious. The quantity is good for the table of two and not at all a small plate. This is coming from the person who's appetite is smaller than a pea, so try out for yourself. Pizza : We ordered a half of rocco's veggie and half of chicken sriracha. Veggie one came with a lot of cooked veggies - tomatoes, mushrooms, mozzarella huge chunks of artichokes and sprinkled arugula post baking, too much over the edge. I felt like I was just thrown in hay of arugula. Nothing spectacular, the crust was good though. My husband munched on the Chicken Sriracha, he liked it. I wouldnt vouch for the pizza's that we tasted but definitely give try for creamy burrata. They also have Burrata below the wood fired pizza section. I wonder whats the difference! Chocolate mousse : We tried their chocolate mousse thats on the desert display section. It was alright. Not too good, but no complaints either. We returned the next day to pick up creamy burrata again only to have it two hours later. Have it fresh, it was too soggy and all the olive oil dripped out the to go boxes took out the fun. They should definitely consider an airtight container instead of regular to go boxes mainly used for dry food to go's. So Yay, I'm a fan but for the Burrata, Ill come back again. read more

Came here with some classmates after driving out to Pottsville to go to the Yuengling factory tour. We ordered 2 woodfired pizzas (the Burrata & the Di Parma) and a small ROMA SPECIAL (yes, it was in all caps on the menu)...3 fairly huge pies for 4 people. Unfortunately, this place has gone down hill. My most recent visit made me decide to not visit this restaurant again. To start the experience off my wife's wine came out in a dirty glass. Not a glass that the dishwasher didnt completely clean. It was a used glass. The lipstick on the rim was fresh. The glass was dirty from someones hands. After notifying the waitress we waited an extensive amount of time for our food to come out. People around us were being seated and served before us. When the food came out my cheesesteak was cold. The cheese was already solidified. Our "wood fired" pizza was also cold and not crispy like wood fired pizzas usually are. After finishing our meals another waitress cleared our table and we sat and waited for our bill a long time. This was unacceptable. The acoustics upstair were always bad. It is loud and has never been corrected. To top it off, 90s hip hop is playing on the inhouse speakers. I like this music but not when I'm sitting down to a nice lunch or dinner on a date. I know people rave about this place and it has the potential to be a high end restaurant but it seems like they are happy being a pizza place that has seating and sells pasta. Its a shame. I try not to give bad reviews and don't like to but the entire experience combined with what we have e perienced in recent visits makes me want to inform others. read more

I went to Roma Pizzeria after an amazing visit to the Yeungling Brewery. So you can imagine that I was pretty hungry! =P I entered at the pizza takeout area, so I didn't realize there was a sit down restaurant. I ordered a slice of the philly cheesesteak pizza and it totally hit the spot. My only issue is that I found a small hair in my slice. I had already eaten like 80% of my pizza, so I was already full anyway. If I were in the area again, I'd go back to Roma and probably try the other stuff on the menu. The desserts looked amazing too, so I'll definitely have to save room for that next time! read more

A food oasis in the desert of cuisine. This Italian restaurant in downtown Pottsville features a generous menu of Italian pizza joint selections along with traditional pub fare. We ordered cheese steaks and quesadillas, both were delicious and fresh. We came back the next day after our tour of the Yueling brewery and had chicken Parmesan heroes, pizza and pasta. Everything was done well and tasty. The upstairs dining room is decorated nicely and updated. A full bar operates with several TVs surrounding it. They have a good selection of beer on tap as well. Highly recommend this place. Would make it 5 stars if I was comparing it to the rest of Pottsville, but for now I'll keep the overall 4 star rating. read more
