If you are in Rome, Italy and you want to see the city unlike any other tour you will find, this is…read morethe way to go. Before our trip, my wife found the Rome 500 experience online while searching for things to do in Rome. She knows I love cars and that I love to drive and saw that this tour allows you to personally drive a vintage Fiat around as you follow your guide in his fiat. Traditionally, multiple groups are scheduled and a trail of 5 or 6 Bright colored Fiats follow the guide all through the city. On the morning we booked, my wife and I were the only group scheduled so we had a private tour and it was a really cool experience. Our guide Giorgio was Awesome! His English was good, and he was very knowledgeable on the history of Rome. During the tour, we went all around the city and saw many places that you traditionally would not see if on foot or by taking a bus tour. The vintage Fiats are a lot smaller than a traditional car, and we were amazed at the small alley ways we went through. You are given a handset radio (walkie-talkie) so you can communicate with your guide and hear about the history of each landmark/area you drive past. The guide will make many stops during your approximately 3 hour tour and allow you to get out, take pictures and share about the history of where you are at. As you make your way through the city, do not be surprised if you become a tourist attraction yourself. Being in the Vintage Fiats, many people took pictures and did a double take as we drove past. The experience was priceless and well worth the money spent. One thing to keep in mind is being able to drive a manual transmission. They are not automatic, and you will need a driver in your group that can drive "stick". It was an experience of a lifetime and I will definitely recommend this tour to friends and family traveling to Beautiful Rome.

Our tour guide Alessio was incredible! His knowledge of Rome from 200 BC to today was phenomenal. My respect and appreciation for Rome architecture grew incredibly after spending three hours with this young man! He opened out eyes to so many things that We had no idea and made our trip so much more special! When we return to Rome we will spend another three hours with him or a tour! Even if we took the same tour again it would be special!

Wanting to learn the history of our destination and maximize our time wisely, we found overome tours on google and were not disappointed with the service we received from start to finish. Our tour guide for the colosseum and Ancient Rome tour, Issa, was polite, professional and patient with all of our questions. Our second tour-the Vatican wonders tour with Salvatore did not disappoint! If we want to book more tours we will absolutely come back to this company! Our group was a very good size versus the many other tours we saw that had MASSIVE amounts of people-this made digesting the information that much easier!

The sight she, sounds, and smells or Rome are fantastic, but our tour was even better because of our tour guide, Val. Not only is he a tour guide born in Rome but he spent some time in the U.S. and was able to talk us about how the cultures vary and his English is perfect. He is also an architect so he was able to on give us some great facts that no other guide could. He stopped when we needed to stop and even showed us things that weren't even suppose to be on the tour. He made the day amazing and I'd highly recommend Overome.

Spring break of 2017 I took a trip to Rome, Italy for 11 days. With the colosseum being a main…read moreattraction in Rome, we had to take a tour. We happened to go on a Sunday where they actually allow free entry into the colosseum, therefore the line was much longer than normal to enter. Although you can enter for free they still conduct tours throughout the shortened open time for the day. If you enter for free you do not have a tour guide, you simply have access to walk around yourself without guidance. The tour guides and different companies walk around the outside trying to persuade each tourist into taking a walking tour through the colosseum. I would highly recommend taking the tour it is most definitely worth the 20 euros a person they charge. When buying a tour through the company you get to skip the "free entry" line and enter almost with no wait. They split you into small groups with about 10-12 people in each group (separating the groups by desired language), leading you first through security to keep the building secure then into a waiting room where you wait for the rest of you tour group to come through. Your tour guide then leads the group to several stops through the colosseum, while informing you of the rich history and very interesting knowledge not easily accessible to the public. Throughout the tour we stopped periodically so that you could walk around the area presented and take it all in before learning about what you see. You proceed to the second level where there is a gift shop and covering to escape any unwanted weather. After making a few more stops through the colosseum you stop on the top level where many people take advantage of the view and snap some pictures. The tour ends on this level and you are able to explore for any amount of time you desire on the way back down. This gives the tourist a chance to spend more time in certain places that the tour may have not spent much time on. There is not alternative way of transportation through the colosseum because of its state and age, only on foot. This, although inconvenient to some, is simply to keep the structure in the incredible condition it has been kept in for all these years. Our tour guide, Jean moorman, was very informative and was very cultured, able to speak four languages. This tour was by far one of the most interesting and intriguing tours I have ever been on. Our tour guide never failed to share facts that even after research were new information to us. Not only was he very informative but he had a good sense of humor and always had the group laughing. These tours seem to be a very important not only to the rich history of the city but to the people. Many local historians are employed here, seeing that it is such a famous, world-wide attraction to visit. These tours have a great impact on the tourist opening their minds to the beautiful history this city holds. If you ever get the chance to take this tour I would highly recommend it as would anyone else I know that have taken it.

My mother-in-law is elderly and getting around with her took more time than expected. Still, we arrived at the staging area and the staff was still very pleasant and accommodating. And they sat us in a very good spot for the Wednesday audience with the Pope. I would definitely recommend this company.

He is definitely highly recommended. He is an archaeologist as well so he had a lot of fascinating things to share with us. We actually ran into him on three separate occasions in Rome by chance and he was great to talk to each time. The Colosseum tour we took also included the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill (both even more fascinating than the Colosseum in my opinion). The Vatican tour was with Claudia and she was equally as knowledgeable and fun! She obviously knew the folks she needed to to get around in this massive complex without having to wait for anything. The "no-line" entry most tours get has lines here. She had the hookup to get us even past those lines. The tour starts through the Vatican Museum and it was very crowded at the time we were there. She fought to make room for us to get in front of the masses to get a close look at all the things she wanted us to see. It was great to see her genuinely care about our experience. Just about every other tour group we saw in this places had at least 30 people in them. Both tours we took with Real Rome Tours had less than 10. We all had an equal opportunity to experience these beautiful sights with great knowledgable folks who even stuck around to answer any questions we had. They also give great recommendations on restaurants and other places you need to see while in Rome. Gerard was also a pleasure dealing with while booking our tours. He is well organized and gave us a great alternative when we wanted to do the Colosseum Underground tour that wasn't available. It worked out perfectly for us. I couldn't recommend Real Rome Tours any more.
