I have never waited more than a few minutes past my appointment time to get taken back for my appointment. But what matters most to me is how Dr. Champion and his staff listen carefully and engage me by asking questions, and always encourage me. Every individual I have interacted with at Southeastern Cardiology Associates has been courteous and professional. Scheduling appointments and prescription refill requests are always promptly handled without causing me distress or concern. I scheduled my appointment three weeks in advance and confirmed verbally with the practice that they accepted my insurance. I did my due diligence and called my insurance company to confirm as well - they affirmed that Midtown was in-network. I took time off work to attend my appointment and showed up at 9:45 for my 10:00am appointment. The woman at the front desk was a) rude straight off the bat and b) informed me that she was unable to verify my insurance, so I immediately provided a copy of my card and went to sit down. I sat in the waiting room until 10:40 (40 minutes past my appointment time) before being called up and told that the practice cannot accept my insurance due to "office policy", but that I can self-pay $200 if I'd like to keep my appointment. I briefly stepped outside to call my insurance company who confirmed (yet again) that Midtown is in network. A second, slightly more pleasant receptionist informed me that the reason the office will not accept my plan is because it is a "limited plan" (10 covered visits per year), which in my interpretation translates to a money hungry practice (they do not want to accept patients who will not be coming in frequently, and thus bringing more money into the practice by only accepting frequent fliers). The front desk staff treated me like it was an inconvenience for THEM, not me, to deal with this issue and did not seem even slightly apologetic for the inconvenience. I wasted hours of my work day due to Midtown OBGYN's failure to correctly verify my insurance coverage when explicitly asked to THREE weeks ahead of my appointment. Extremely disappointing experience to have as a healthcare worker myself, will never return.

You'll face discrimination and excessive services that they refuse to allow you to decline. Before I even met Dr Fortson, I was scheduled for an ultrasound every single month of my pregnancy without my consent. I was scheduled for a pap-smear at 16 weeks of pregnancy without my consent. I have no other risk factors that would consider my pregnancy to be high risk. Someone sitting behind a desk saw my bmi, and scheduled these extremely expensive and excessive procedures without a physician from their office ever having met me. When I called to decline the excessive services and procedures, I was transferred to a nurse and was told it was their "treatment plan" and I could go elsewhere if I didn't comply to their demands. I repeatedly asked "so I do not have the right to decline services?" And the nurse would not answer my question. I told them I would not be back and hung up the phone. I immediately called another provider and scheduled a new patient appointment. I went to see him, and he was very surprised at all of the excessive ultrasounds. He thought it was "very strange" that they scheduled them without any other risk factors, and they wouldn't allow me to decline a pap-smear during pregnancy. Thank God, I found a provider to help bring my child into this world that will allow me to have a say in my medical care. It is our right as American citizens to have a say in our healthcare, and is 100% our right to decline services. This isn't even my only complaint about this place of business. At my 3rd appointment, I was taken into an office and given 3 options to pay off my $5000 bill over the next 4-5 months. We have a high deductible and coinsurance, so I knew we would be paying a lot out of pocket, however this business has no compassion for their patients. We were shocked when we saw that we would owe them over $1000 a month, and our total bill had to be paid in full before 28 weeks of pregnancy. That is A LOT of money for the majority of working Americans, and can be detrimental to a family living on a budget. I spoke to multiple people in the business office looking for solutions to this mess, and finally ended up speaking with a woman named Kelly. She could not have been more cold hearted towards me. I was in tears after getting off of the phone with her, and we had to make the decision to put our family into debt and put our monthly payments on credit cards. Today, over a week later, I received a letter in the mail. I knew exactly what it was before even opening it. Midtown OBGYN (Kelly) decided to further hurt my family and send us a letter firing me as a patient. As if I had not been the one to end the relationship. They labeled me as "non-compliant" and difficult to communicate with. To me, this is them covering their behinds. They are fully aware that I ended the patient-provider relationship because of the reasons I've listed above. Bottom line: if you are overweight, seek prenatal care elsewhere. If your family is on a budget, seek care elsewhere. If you believe you should have a say in how you are treated by the healthcare system, seek care elsewhere. If you think you deserve to be treated with compassion, respect, and dignity, please seek care elsewhere. I am fully expecting a response to my review, so I'll be waiting. WITHOUT EVEN TESTING FOR STREP. (Which is illegal). I then ask to be tested for strep and she leaves the room. As I'm waiting, I hear her mumble to her coworkers "so much for getting out on time" These people consistently close early, are lazy, and do not want to do their jobs properly. They also locked the door Twenty minutes early. They are in the wrong profession. Maybe an office job where they sit on their ass all day would suit them better.

Been going here for months and have spent over $10,000 in treatments. Walking away with scars from…read morebeing burned and purple rash like bruising. I am done, hallelujah. The owner Clarissa is friendly and personable unless there is an issue. Then you are treated like a pariah and being difficult. There is so much to say about how horrible my experience so won't be able to fit everything. My consultation was for fat reduction which was super quick with no body scan or photos. Only one thing was mentioned (M-Sculpt) which they could get me started immediately. After my first treatment I had 2nd degree burns. I spoke with the owner Clarissa about not feeling like this was going to be a good fit because the heat portion was the fat reduction and the other was muscle definition which is not what I came in for. She said she was going to try cavitation. At my next appt. she explained how great this machine was and kept me on it with no heat. She covered my blisters with cotton and put the paddles over top. We continued doing this for weeks. I mentioned one day I thought the blisters might be infected because they hurt so bad and the areas were extremely red. She said they were fine and showed me a jar of equate healing cream I could pick up at Walmart. Every few weeks I would try to talk to her about still not feeling like this was a good treatment plan for me because I didn't feel anything in my muscles through my layer of fat even at the highest setting and wasn't getting the fat reduction. We literally had the same exact conversation every single time. She would say we need to do a body scan/pictures, she would show me a butt lifting part of M-sculpt saying we would eventually get to doing that and get me where I need to be. After having this same conversation multiple times I realized it didn't matter if It was working or not because I was being put on it out of convenience because they double book and it's easier just to stick me on a machine and walk out. In the months of going here almost every visit felt like an advertisement. While she was putting me on the M-sculpt she would talk about other services I could use. She sold me on Trizepitide and eventually IPL laser. I also had a hydro facial. Every single month I was on the shot they tried to charge me more than what I was told when I started. It was awkward to keep having same conversation and them having to go back to see how much I was charged. Then one time randomly charged even more because she gave me a shot with increased dose without discussing it with me. I did pay the extra but said I wanted to go back to lower dose. All I can say about the IPL laser is I still have the red dot, broken capillaries and sun spot she said would all go away. They all look the same. More money down the drain. Randomly one day she said my legs were done although they had zero change I just said ok then asked if I needed to make appt for the butt lift she had talked about. She gave me a look like I was dumb and said harshly with a tone "for people who pee on their self." I just said "no" and had no clue what else to say. Then she rudely said " You're not going to be satisfied" I said "Im sorry I wasn't trying to upset anyone I have just been open and honest from the beginning. I really wish we had done the body scan so you can see what I'm talking about." She came back with such a tone and said " OH OK! , You can come in once a month for a body scan so YOU can see a difference, but we aren't doing anymore treatments until you hit your goal weight." I just said ok and would have never walked back in but I had one more IPL treatment. At my last IPL appt she randomly decided to do cavitation as well. So we did IPL laser on my face, neck and arm then cavitation on my stomach and both arms all in less than an hour which I now I have purple rash like bruising from. Lesson learned: Go some where that specializes in services I'm looking for and not a one stop shop that can't keep track of treatment plans, conversations, training, pricing or integrity.
