I recently changed my kids over to Romie Lane Pediatrics and it was great. Dr. Subbarao saw my 4 children and they all loved her. She was very good with them and very thorough with all the information she gave us. The front staff was also very nice at every appointment at the time of check in and checkout. I have only stayed with this Pediatric office thanks to Dr. Malik being an excellent Pediatrician. This one STAR I selected is for her and her MA. She is a wonderful caring human being who cares for her patients. The "front office staff" are a bunch of immature and unprofessional people. They always overlook everything and say it was an error on their end. They do not acknowledge nor apologize for the inconvenience their errors cause. If you ask them for their manager's name so you can communicate and inform of their behavior, they respond with a "sure, her name is so and so .. in a sarcastic tone, knowing nothing will be done or said to them. The Office Manager does not seem to care of what goes on in that front office. She seems half ways asleep every time I've seen here in there. Unbelievable, I've been with this office since my oldest was a baby and he is now 32. I'm glad I will be done dealing with this front office staff shortly. read more

Dr Malik is the best. You can tell she truly cares for her patients as if they were her own children. She always explains thouraly and answers all questions. Never rushes through the appointment. Always on time for the appointment. Which is rare these days with doctors. read more

At first I thought it was just me but clearly, there have been a lot of other people who have had trouble with the front office, it seems Danielle is the root of the trouble. Terry, on the other hand, should be the one on the phones as he was professional, helpful and managed to schedule an appointment without any trouble. My daughter sees Dr. Fowler who is very informative with nutrition and is never in a rush. This place would be worthwhile if they would just train Danielle on the importance of earning her paycheck and customer service.They have a VERY nice waiting area for the kids, great doctors, just don't be surprised if you get an a**hole when you call to make an appointment! UPDATE: I was pleasantly surprised that management called after the last bad experience with Danielle. It turns out they do care about customer service and emphasized that they would speak with the front office. Not sure if they have made any improvements, hopefully, they do but I have decided to give up on them and take my daughter to Dr. John Clark's office. For what it's worth, Dr. Clark is very welcoming, respectful and his medical assistants are sweethearts and actual professionals, they are worth all the $$$. read more

Took my son for an annual physical, and according to my insurance I don't have a copay for annual exam. I received a statement for a copay, turns out the office charged a separate visit on the same day as physical because I asked the dr a questions about constipation. Yup, separate visit on the same day, I called to dispute and Kylie the office manager was rude an condescending. Not going back please be aware of shady policies with this office. read more

This is for the front office staff only. Extremely bad customer service. We have paid hundreds and hundreds out of pocket for vaccines (since this office does not accept our insurance) yet when we came back for the other half of the vaccines that I thought we had already paid for come to find out after the shots were given we were told it's going to be another couple hundred dollars. What????The front office should have told us this before doing the procedure. What if we couldn't pay for it? Really bad communication. Plus you would think being a children's office they would make sure they would smile and be kind yet no one smiles at you pretty much ever while you are here. Getting someone to acknowledge you while your standing at the front is like pulling teeth. read more

I have a two year old and three year old that we have been taking here since they were both born to see Dr. Koehne (not sure on spelling). He's a great doctor, he knows how to help calm your kids and really check what is going on with them and never leaves anything unattended. The wait times are short and sometimes when I get there early, I still only wait a couple minutes. The whole staff is great, when we had my daughter, the pediatrician on call at SVMH was Dr. Malik and she recognized that my daughter had pneumonia immediately and it was something nurses brushed off when we mentioned her breathing, we didn't have to say anything to Dr. Malik, she had her in the nicu within an hour. Although we miss nurse Kris at RLP, nurse Julie is great. She always makes sure we fully understand everything and we sometimes see her for sick visits if we can't get in with our pediatrician. read more

So happy the doctor my children see here left and went to a different practice. Loved her but the rest of the office is non-responsive, has no idea what customer service is about. I sent my request to transfer files form to them 6 weeks ago. I have called twice to follow-up and offered to pick them up. I was told not to worry, they would be sent to the new office by December 1st. Took my daughter for her check up today...no files there. Called Romie Lane, "we never received the form" Funny why did people tell me they had it and were working on it then. This is only the front office staff, you don't even want to get me started on the doctors in the office. Luckily I have kids that are healthy so I am only there for annual check ups. However, on the rare case I need to go in I am so frustrated by the cold, rude behavior the other doctors in the practice give to my and my child. read more

Up until my teens, this was my doctors office. It's an OK office. I remember my mom arguing with the front staff from time to time due to ins info paper work ect.. I don't have horrible experiences here. Almost all the doctors I got were sweet. But the medical assistants who would give me my shots and flue shot were so rude. I've always been terrified (Until a few years back) of needles. I do admit I would scream and run. But they would get so mad at me. I was only a child. Do not work in pediatrics, heck do not work in the medical field if you are not going to have patience. read more

Dr.Koehne and staff are absolutely amazing. My family and I have been coming to this practice for 30 plus years and now our Children are Patient's. Dr./Staff are so helpful and knowledgeable. Appointments are always quick and relieving. This is the only Pediatrician office I trust with my Children's care. read more

I have had nothing but good experiences here since my son was born. The front desk were always accommodating both times my son needed to be seen right away when he was sick. They always squeezed me in the same morning. As for his wellness visits and vaccinations, Ana, the medical assistant for Dr. Fowler, is just phenomenal with my son. She is quick and caring. When we needed a prior authorization to get special baby formula approved through our insurance, Dr. Fowler and Ana were helpful in helping us getting it approved. Even though it had only been their 2nd time "prescribing" formula, they didn't just tell me that they wouldn't do it or it wouldn't get approved but instead, Ana always called me and kept me up to date and always did what our insurance needed her to do in terms of paperwork. Today my daughter felt like she was having a asthma attract so I asked them to check her and I waited 15 mins and no one came to help so I went up and asked if they wanted to help or if I needed to take her to the hospital! Dr. Malik has been seen my child for almost 7 years. However, when I refused the gardisil vaccine for my daughter, she asked the reasons why I was refusing this vaccine, and I told her one of many reasons I have. She suddenly acted rude and told me and my child that because I refused the vaccine, that my daughter was going to get cancer in the future and they will have to treat her. I felt assaulted yet I remained silent and even my daughter got scared and said that she did not want to get cancer. I left without telling Dr. Malik a word. I felt bullied and assaulted. no wonder that place is always empty. All I can tell is that under HIPPA regulations the patient has the right to refuse any treatment, medication or vaccine. Doctors and nurses have to respect the patient's decision. In this case, I am the mother of my child and I am the one to chose the best for her. I do not recommend this practice to anyone. read more

I'm new to salinas and was looking for a new pediatrician for my 4 month old son. I was referred to Dr. Fowler by my mother in law who takes her 2 year old son there. The staff is nice, welcoming, and friendly there. The set up inside is the cutest thing ever! It's jungle/safari theme and inside the rooms is decorated with animals and leafs on the ceiling which I think is great because it distracts babies/kids from when they're getting shots. Doctor fowler introduced himself well and took a whole 45 min to an hour to answer all my questions and to discuss his nutrition. One star for the great service from the staff and doctor, another star for the cleanness and cute nursing room in the building, 3 stars for the great vaccination from the nurse assistance (she was gentle and fast) 4 stars for the short wait in the waiting room and to see the doctor and 5 starts to complete it because Doctor fowler answered all my question, didn't rush me, and I felt like he cared about the well-being of my baby. Dr. Malek was my children's pediatrician for a few years before we had enough and switched to another Doctor's office.My only complaint about her is that she was the on-call pediatrician at SVMH when my daughter was born and I was discharged by MY doctor around 10am and unfortunately we were stuck there, on Christmas Day until almost 5pm because Dr. Malek, who know we were to be discharged that morning, was at church?? By around 1pm, my husband was pretty ticked off as we were packed and ready to go home but no one had heard from Dr.Malek and the staff said they couldn't call her. We had to threaten to leave before they finally called her and they came in and told us she was at church and would be here later. Anyway the reason we left is that it became impossible to get an appointment! Every time I called when my kids were sick, they couldn't be seen right away ! I was told it would be 2 to 3 months! The final straw was when my daughter started suffering hearing loss and they me the soonest she could be seen was in 2 months! Sorry NOT acceptable! We changed pediatricians after that to one in Monterey. Also, the same year we left, they had scheduled our well child exams/vaccines way in advance and then a month before, called me to reschedule them because the doctor would be on vacation and of course, the new appointment was 2 months after the original appointment but we ended up leaving before then when they wouldn't see my daughter for her hearing loss in a timely manner. This was in 2013, hopefully things have changed. read more
