The crowd today was immense since they just opened an hr ago and are running a sale for their Grand Opening between now and 30th Aug. They have extensive stock of ethnic groceries, piled up high to the ceiling....so it might be a good idea to stop by and stock up. Just be prepared to be in line for a solid 2hrs. The store is huge and has the largest selection of fresh/frozen produce, Indian: oils, condiments utensils. Name it, they have it all!! I didn't get a chance to explore the store in detail coz of the crowd but I'm glad to have a store like this close by for my Indian fix.

I was in the mood for sushi after a workout at The Edge and made my way across the parking lot to Big Y who advertise "Fresh Sushi made daily". I found a sushi bar that was absolutely stunning. A huge display of beautifully colored varieties of Sushi with all the fixings! I was looking for something special and called the phone number given for special orders. A very nice woman named TiTi answered and asked if I could give her ten minutes which I agreed to. She came in and made me a special order right on the spot! I didn't realize she was actually coming from home to make it!! How sweet is that? She assured me several times it wasn't a problem and she was pleased to do it. Big Y, thank you for offering sushi and most of all, thank you for the best customer service I have ever experienced at a grocery store. TiTi is a true sushi artist and also a kind hearted person. She will make any special order you like and also does large party trays for groups. Oh yeah, did I mention the sushi was fresh, delicious, and extremely aesthetically pleasing? Great, heres a pallet of the name brand, this is our only option." But the prices are good, and their spice selection is wide to the point I would recommend trying here for more obscure ingredients. They also have fun impulse buys. I did not need Chick-fil-A Polynesian sauce, but now I have my own bottle for chicken. The prices are pretty reasonable as well, even with inflation. I'm not sure how they manage to only sell Pepsi drinks, but hey, if that's your drink of choice! Overall it's a nice market and fun to check out.

The quality is consistently excellent, but what really sets them apart is that they actually have real butchers behind the counter who know their craft and are happy to help you find -- or cut -- exactly what you're looking for. Case in point: this weekend my youngest son decided he wanted picanha for dinner. Not exactly the most common suburban grocery store request. I walked up to the counter fully prepared for the usual "we might be able to order that for next week" conversation... and within moments they had it cut and ready for me. Boom. Dinner plans saved. Their meat case and selection are honestly elite. Beautiful cuts, great variety, and the kind of quality that makes you want to cook something ambitious. I'll also admit that in some of my past reviews I've had a little "constructive feedback" for other departments in the store. Let's just say I'm slowly making my amends. But the butcher shop? They've been consistently fantastic. Great service. Great product. Real expertise. We're lucky to have a place like this in town.

They have butchers who can cut the meats as you prefer, where in too-many chain groceries lots of the choices have already been sliced up. They have a nice selection of prepared sandwiches, and the aisles are stocked with just about everything you'd find at your local Stop and Shop, although their aisles are much close together. Prices? Not too different from a larger store, higher for some of the meat, but you're getting better cuts here, in our opinion. In sum, not for everybody maybe, but it's a well-run local shop and we like their offerings.
