I try to avoid this location as often as possible, and yesterday was a good reminder of why. I was already near New Park so it just made sense to grab my groceries. I guess a part of it's on me for not thoroughly checking, but after putting my groceries away and tossing my receipt, I realized that my brioche bread contained mold and my Justin's honey peanut butter was open with a huge glob taken out of it(!!!!!!) People have told me this has happened to them before at this location, so maybe it could be a quality control issue, but I won't be back to find out. read more

I usually do my shopping at stop & shop because it's close to Waterbury. The last time I ordered online you forgot to give me the money back for the item I never got it was only $10 but that's $10 I don't have. So I called the store back told him what happened they said they refund the money but I haven't seen it yet. I might as well just go up to the LeBrons store and shop there. read more

My go to for groceries, nice selection of everything I need. Not too crowded on the weekdays. Nice staff for the most part.

I was pleasantly surprised by the operation of this stop and shop. Everyone was in good spirits and lines moves quickly. Will come again!

This stop and shop is my go to although I don't live as near as I used to. What I like about this one is that I can find all type of ethnic food/seasoning. It recently went through renovations and everything was moved around and it definitely will take some getting used as I was used to the way it was before. read more

This is my go-to Stop&Shop. Great selection including ethnic foods, seafood, bakery, fresh fruits and veggies, is clean, well-organized, well-stocked. Employees are always personable, accessible and willing to help. Manager Jeff Doyle does a great job. Even the customers are friendly and considerate! So I did recieve the mythical replacement arrangement. I've added a picture. It is far and away a higher quality arrangement than the original sad thing I got. The new one is going on day 6 and still looks lovely. I stand by my earlier assessment of value though. I still think it's a rip off. This arrangement doesn't look anywhere near $90 worth of roses, let along regular flowers. I am happy they eventually fixed the problems, but I don't like having to harangue a business to make it happen. read more

I'm dropping stars on this one. My favorite, local, regular Stop and Shop has recently gone so downhill I've got to find another spot to shop. I'm a huge creature of habit. I get anxiety when things change a little too quickly. I like having a grocery store that I'm familiar with, I know where everything is...until now. I understand that sometimes you've got to remodel your store, shake things up a bit but lately this place is a disaster. Let me start with a trip I made about a month ago on my regular Sunday morning trip to the market. I walked in and all of the refrigerated produce was hidden behind screens that were keeping in the coolness. I finally found a head of lettuce and freed it from it's prison. I moved along to the frozen seafood, all of which was covered with flattened boxes. Ok, something weird was going on with the electrical and they were trying to keep everything cool. Moving along to the back wall with all the meats, the lights above that whole section were flashing like a crappy night club. When I made it to the freezer section all of the freezer doors were tied off with rope so you couldn't open them. The last aisle where the dairy is was completely blocked off with grocery carts. Why not just close the store until the issue is fixed? Or, here's another idea, maybe put a sign up on the doors that gives shoppers a hint of the s*** show inside? All I've said above I probably would've left unsaid because I try not to make a judgement about a place based on one isolated visit. That being said, this store just abolished their deli. All they sell now is pre-sliced, store brand deli meats. How fresh is it? What happened to the Boar's Head? What happened overall? I wish I knew. Is it because they're remodeling? Is this temporary? One final note, they changed the self checkout section recently and it's TERRIBLE. It's like the ones you see at Home Depot where you must scan your item and place it where the plastic bags hang. There's no conveyor belt so if you say, have a cart full of stuff...you're kind of screwed on where to put it, pile it before getting it back to your cart. It looks like I'm in the market for a new grocery store. read more

The milk goes sour much earlier than the expiration date. The store brand as well as garelick. Has anyone else had this problem? Looks like their handling isn't great. Oh avocados: just can't seem to get any good avocados here. read more

The bathroom was AWFUL. I went in and there was doodoo feces everywhere all over the way and toilet paper was scattered. The mirrors were filthy and the air in there felt like cancer. I almost threw up. Absolutely not, never again. Also, they once gave me a fake 20 dollar bill, like what the hell??? The dunkin pretty cool tho. read more

I live nearby and I go here often, it's clean, I like many of the people who work here (there's a couple of employees who will curse you out if you don't hussle with your deli selections, yikes, but I understand) and thank God for the self-checkout. Do not go to this store the first week of the month. Do not even attempt to be slick and get there earlier or go later in the evening during the first week of the month. Follow my wise words or you will lose your everlasting mind. Trust me, you will pay. read more

Love this stop and shop. It's close to my house, well stocked and super clean. There are Red Box kiosks inside and out and self-checkout for when I'm in a rush. The prices are pretty good, and the quality of the produce is great. This has definitely become my go to spot for fresh produce. The day before Hurricane Sandy hit I stopped by and expected the place to be a mess, but that was not the case! It was still nice and clean, and fully stocked. The other day I even got some great welcome to the neighborhood coupons in the mail, which I will definitely be using soon! read more

Worst manager ever.. Jeffrey completely disregarded the fact that there was one person working in customer service (Kevin) and 12 people in line waiting for help. Jeffrey was more concerned about putting grocery carts away than providing good customer service. Unbelievable. I work in town and I will not be coming back to this grocery store. Kevin at customer service deserves a raise and someone working with him on Fridays. There were a ton of people cashing checks/money orders and I had to wait 20 mins simply to swap an item out. read more

This stop&shop is closest to me, but is always out of items, the produce is mushy, and tofu etc is always out of stock. Additionally, I always have issues with digital coupons here, and when I ask for assistance, find the associates rude and condescending. Today a self checkout associate took her time coming to assist and proceeded to tell me to go to customer service instead of taking1 minute to help me herself. She then proceeded to grab some items for her personal consumption and stand behind me as I checked out, rolling her eyes. The second the computer was open (she didn't even wait for me to grab my bags) she was next to me ringing up her own items. When I went to customer service, the woman was so condescending and laughed when I asked my question. She then slowly explained, as if I was a child, how 2.55 + 1.55 =4.10... which I did not need explained and already understand. Although other stop&shops are a bit further, they are better stocked, have more options, and have associates willing to do their jobs. The Farmington Ave location has been wonderful, and I will drive further to go there from now on. read more

So I came to Stop and shop today to buy flowers for my students who are opening their show tonight. And the wonderful people in the floral department, especially Diana, took the time to work out a deal for me to get two bunches of flowers that could be then wrapped up individually, saving me about $30. Then Diana did a wonderful job wrapping each flower individually. She is going to make 14 middle school kids feel very special and important tonight. Thanks! Typical S&S shopping experience. I like how they are open to 12am daily. As others have mentioned -- it's not the greatest nor the worst place. Avoid peak-shopping hours as this place can get very crowded when people leave work to grocery shop. It's not in a terrible neighborhood, but on more than one occasion - I've noticed a police officer on-premise (usually after dinner) as well as parking lot security. read more

This is a place where you buy food. The restroom was disgusting. There was literally crap all over the toilets, trash all over the floor. No paper towels. No soap. And this is where the employees use the restroom? The ones that are handling your food? Gross. read more

Couple days went there to super stop shop I need a money order was happy is only a dollar for service feed but couple I didn't need so went back to cash it they do not cash the money order they sell I was upset then people bank was right and they don't cash either u need an acct this establishment have great services but what so good to have them if they can't a simple money order read more

Blood here. Blood there. Blood everywhere. Go to this locations meat section and you will find it in all the places it should not be. Once you pick up any of the poorly packaged items, your fingers begin to stick from the meat drippings. I guess its not the stores fault. Customers hover and pick through the t-bones and pork shoulder as if it were a rummage sale and seem not to care that they may not have been the first that day to dare to touch. Maybe it wouldnt be so bad if meat was the last item on our list to pick up. But no. The "juice" goes from the meat to the hands to the shopping cart to the box of cereal to the apples and to the back of our pants because theres nothing to wipe it off with. It looks like a kid did some fingerpaint all over that part of the store. Except it wasnt paint, it was blood. Mmm, yum read more

This location is across from the two car washes Mr. Sparkle and Golden Nozzle. I have visited many many times. They have in the past stocked some cool things that I could not locate elsewhere. An example would be plantain flour, recently I have not seen this available here. There are still some good ethic food offerings here but there are better options. This is a store that is frequently very crowded, so we tend to go there during off peak, but candidly since the former Shaw's was renovated and taken over by Shop rite, I believe that location has siphoned off a large percentage of their traffic. This location, like many has a bank branch inside and consequently during certain times of the month it is very.. very crowded. I like the store, just not the hassle. read more

Slow service at customer service desk and never enough cashiers. This store never has enough cashiers when checking out. They only have 2-3 checkout lanes with cashiers and expect everyone to use the self-checkout lanes instead, which tend to take longer. But using the self-checkout usually takes much longer if you have more than a few items, or lots of items that do not have a bar code to scan like fruits and vegetables, etc. And still, many customers who only have a few items and use the self-checkout lanes but FAIL to put their items on the conveyor belt or don't place the item in the bag, etc. (which happens all the time) causing longer wait times at the checkout and still takes longer than using a checkout lane with the cashier. Also, if you ever want to get something simple like a lottery ticket at the customer service desk - expect to wait in a very long line due to most of the people getting money transfers or money orders, etc. which takes over 5 minutes per customer as many of the low income customers at this store do not have bank accounts or cannot use the online web tools to take care of financial matters, but rather rely on the customer service department at local grocery. read more

Long Lines, Under staffed, Messy Parking Lot. Long Lines. They have self-checkout lines, but usually only 2 cashiers working full service lines - there's always a line in either. There are always about 15-20 people in line at the bank inside the store usually on the 1st and the 15th of the month because everyone needs to cash their welfare checks since they do not have bank accounts or direct deposit. The customer service line is always long too with same group of people getting money orders and sending money through western union - again because they do not have bank accounts and unable to send money themselves online electronically. Staff. Never enough cashiers at checkout and forced to use automated checkout. Staff is not that friendly too. Messy Parking Lot. Grocery carts always taking up parking spaces. Trash and broken glass litters the parking lot. Also, the entrance on the north side (left) of the store is closed early and you're forced to exit the south side doors (right) by the customer service department. read more

I have shopped here for quite a bit over the last 6 years, when I am down here in Hartford working I stay nearby on Farmington Ave. Last night I needed to do my shopping late due to a busy day, and more busy days to come. They close at midnight, and at 11:30, they came on the loud speaker and said they closed in 15 minutes. I had spent over an hour doing my shopping, using electronic coupons etc. When I hurried up front, there were no registers open and I was told it was self check out only. I asked about the electronic coupons on the app, and was told they get put on automatically. The nice gentleman then went on to help someone else. When I got my entire cart scanned, I looked and the coupons were not on there. Since he was busy, I looked over at a woman I assume was a manager, who was standing by one of the registers on texting or whatever on her phone. I said excuse me twice before she looked up. I asked her how do you get the coupons to work, and she told me I had to go to the service desk. I will admit to getting a bit pissy, since it takes 3 times as long to scan your own crap, and it did not look like anyone was even over there. I said HELL NO dumped all of my stuff out of my bags and back in to the cart. She finally came wandering over to help in the self check area. When I said hell no and stomped off, she said have a nice evening, VERY passive aggressive. Not good customer service at all. They lost a $152 sale, and a customer last night. read more

They need to hire more people!!! It seems they are always understaffed and the lines are long. And those working seem stressed. I would like to see happier employees and more jobs are always a good thing and would probably make everyone (employees and customers) happy. Prices are good and all. read more
