I've had a darn time finding someone to work on my big Burgman 650, that ACTUALLY knows them not just can work in motorcycles. I came out of work one day and there was a business card on the bike so I thought I'd give them a call. They're a small family owned business (I prefer to support the community owned businesses as much as possible) and he and his son run the shop. They have motorcycles for sale, all kinds of gear and accessories as well as doing repairs. Brought my Burgman 650 in and turns out these guys are scooter pros since they worked in them in England!!!! I had an oil change and had him give the scooter a once-over since I've had it a year and it's not needed any service other than oil changes and we did that ourselves. I took me a while to write this and I write this now because it's that time of year again and I still don't have my bike to ride. Let me start by saying that the Dad and son team are nice guys. About a year ago I needed some work done on my bike. Though the bike was over 10 years old, it had only 11, 000 miles on it of which 9,000 were tacked on in one long summer touring the USA. I had ridden the bike pretty regularly but only short distances for the last 10 years. Bike was pretty well maintained. I had stopped riding it for any distance due to a blown seal in the rear brake caliper. Riding with just a front brake isn't too safe although I did do one complete back and forth to Vegas on just the front brake. It was getting close to spring and I wanted to start using the bike again as my commuter and an occasional Sunday ride. I scheduled a 'tune-up' for my bike with these guys and I gave them a detailed list of what I wanted to include new filters, oil change, brake shoes, rear caliper, new tail light and possibly a new front tire that I hadn't decided to replace just the front or get a new set of more street tread pattern. I had just bought a brand new battery a week before and the bike started right up The guys were nice enough to come and pick up my bike. I didn't feel safe riding the bike through town. They put me on the schedule and told me they would have it done in a week or so. It took them over 2 months just to get working on the bike as they were very busy at the time. When they did finally get started on it I got a message that it would not start. I told them that it started the day before they picked it up. They said the battery was dead (brand new battery?) and they would charge it. I sent them several messages asking about the status of my bike. They said they were working on it. Another month goes by and now we're into summer and my dreams of riding by bike are vanishing. Another month goes by and I get a message that everything is done on my bike but it doesn't start. WTF? So, they gave a bike a tune-up and changed the oil without ever starting the bike? WTF? Oil changing 101 says to run the engine before changing the oil so that it all drains out, right? Duh! They changed my rear caliper and bled my brakes and changed my pads but how the 'f' did they test the brakes! Really? The put on a new front tire and tube(other tube was just fine and still held air) even though I told them I was not sure what tire I wanted and that I might want to change both tires. They installed a new tail light but how could they test it with a 'dead battery' (again, battery was brand new when they got the bike but since they had the bike for over 3 months the 90 day warrant was over. Go figure.) So here we are, a year later. The weather is beautiful. I have motorcycle fever and I am without my bike even after paying almost SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS in parts and labor for a bike that is now parked in my garage collecting dust. But, honestly folks. Does it make sense to work on a bike that does not run? Wouldn't that be the place you start first? Get the thing running then go through and tune it up and put on new parts. I mean, if a heart stops beating on a human does a doctor still perform cataract surgery? If the person is dead, why continue? Doesn't make a bit of sense to me at all. What should have happened is when they did finally get to it, over 2 months later, and realized it wouldn't start, they should have given me suggestions and/or options. As a realist, I would have simply had them drop the bike back to me or had someone pick it up and take it to another shop that was more familiar and possibly more qualified to get my bike back on the road. read more

Great work as usual. Had trouble with my bike starting because I let the bike sit a couple of months and the gas screwed up the carb. People don't let your bike sit with out at least starting it up once or twice a month. It doesn't take long for your carb to get fowled up. Two sides to every coin. Our first time paying when everyone was civil, i asked if he offered a cash discount. He couldn't make change so he said I'd owe him. I said i did not like owing anyone. Some companies pass on the savings of credit card transaction fees onto cash customers. Gas stations do it all the time! Nice try. The muffler was installed incorrectly. They put one of their stickers on my bike without prior consent. I did say i am very disappointed in this shop and will be staying adj on yelp. I'm sorry to say but I'm not satisfied at all... Took my bike in because it wouldn't stay charged.. First they told me is my rectifier ( $400), then it was the stater ($700) and still didn't fix the problem.. Then I was told that he just cleaned my wiring harness and now it's charging... They had my bike for over 20 days and everytime I called, they said that they will call me back and never did... Long story short, I finally got my bike back and had it for one day before I got on the freeway and dies on me.. Also, after I got it back, she was leaking oil like a 12 year old school girl on her first period... I dropped it off at vista motorcycles and the guy said that if they can't fond the problem with in an hour, he will just give it back and wont charge me anything... The guys are nice and they are trying but I wish they would of just said that they can't do it and saved me my $1100 and still have a problem and then some... read more

Ron Bishop is truly an icon in the motorcycling industry. I have purchased three Husabergs from him over the years and would purchase another one from him if he still sold them. He does still sell KTM's and Huskies. Ron is a one man band selling bikes and doing mechanical work. His shop is definately a throw back to the days when motorcycle shop owners were also their own best customer. I would venture to say that he is probably the most competent bike mechanic around. stopped in just to get a quote on a carb service, and after he told me around $500 dollars Including a valve adjustment,that probably is not even needed?? I got to wondering what the heck do these high priced shops think when they quote someone so ridiculous? afterall the damned bike only cost me $1800, it amazes me that people even consider these kind of shops, ron bishops please stop taking advantage of the people that are on a budget, needless to say, I have got three quotes after this, and ron bishops quote is really scary, and a bummer that shops have the nerve to OVERCHARGE, and get away with it,because some people just have money to waste...attention atv/motorcycle mechanics, these are not cars you are working on!! so please stop charging hourly rates as auto mechanics do!! its getting way out of hand read more
