Dr ron manzanero is PHENOMENAL!! Ive seen countless DO's, NP's, endocrinologists, etc etc for thyroid and no one has ever been as knowledgeable as Dr Ron. On my first appt with him, he went over our appt time which is unheard of when it comes to drs. Spent over an hour and a half with me! Would 10/10 recommend. I wish i found him earlier. read more

Dr. Manzanero's practice is called Austin Integrative Medicine (AIM). I used to like this doctor, but when he kept moving and rapidly expanding his practice, it became increasingly difficult to get an appointment with him that didn't involve a 2-3 month wait. Hence, I was urged by the phone staff to see his PA Debbi Winder instead, so I finally did and I did not have a good experience with her. When all I needed was a basic bloodwork panel and prescription, she was upbeat, warm and caring. However, that initial 'glow' faded fast when I was suffering from an exacting medical issue. I had a severe case of anemia, that was *glaringly obvious* on my lab results, which she reviewed. Over several (expensive) consultations with her, she seemed to 'miss' that as a source of my problems, as she never addressed it medically, expressed concern about how severely anemic I was, or attempted to correct the condition. Moreover, she seemed annoyed, impatient, and put out by the inconvenience of my more pressinga and distressing medical issues. They do *not* take medical insurance and the fees per hour are high! You can submit your receipt on your own to your insurance company (they don't handle any insurance forms) to be reimbursed for whatever your insurance may pay. There was a time when I did recommend Dr. Manzanero, but after my last few and final experiences at his practice and with his PA, I no longer feel I can. read more

Dr Manzanero may be fine if you're in decent health and want a tune up, but he seems to rely on trendy diagnoses that aren't necessarily backed with facts or reliable research. If you're sick, see another doctor because they'll do a better job diagnosing the actual problem and you'll be treated much more quickly. It takes months to get an appointment with Dr. Manzanero. He's also expensive and doesn't take insurance. Here are some of the specific problems I had: The doctor runs late. Expect to sit in the waiting room for 20-30 minutes after the scheduled appointment time. The office staff also mixed up my appointment time on one occasion, so I arrived on the wrong day (though they were very polite about it). Salesy. He told me that he or one of his associates could cure another, unrelated condition I have but had not discussed with him, was not seeking treatment for, and happens to be incurable. Also, most of his treatments involve expensive supplements that he sells in his office. Poor reputation with other doctors. I get that more mainstream doctors often laugh off alternative medicine practitioners, but this was different. When I got new lab results back, my new doctor left a note that said: "do not continue with Dr. Manzanero's treatment. It is potentially dangerous." Also, the labs and tests he uses may be more sensitive for his diagnoses, but be aware that other doctors will not recognize them because the tests haven't been proven to be effective. My GP disregarded them completely and had me re-do all bloodwork, which was expensive. Seeing him didn't make me feel better. It just took up a lot of my time and money. read more

This review gets 2 stars only because the care of Dr. Manzanero and McCall McPherson are phenomenal. Otherwise this would receive a rating of -1 star. I am extremely dissatisfied with the availability of staff. This is not the first time I have communicated this issue with McCall, either. I have mentioned this issue multiple times and she responds with "I don't know what they do up there" as if it's out of her control. If it is, I understand, but there needs to be something done to get the office staff to answer the phone. I have never seen such a poor performing office from an administrative point of view. Heck, I have managed offices before and I could do so much better. It doesn't take someone to be highly experienced in office management to know the office is SEVERELY lacking in management and efficiency, particularly when answering the phones. Though Dr. Manzanero and McCall McPherson are fantastic and extremely knowledgeable about thyroid health as well as adrenal health, the office staff NEVER answers the phone. I have called all day every day for the past week and a half and have not had ONE call answered. This, to me is not only frustrating but concerning, as I expect that being a patient, I can reach a staff member concerning my medical needs. I may be looking for a new doctor. It is a shame, McCall McPherson and Dr. Manzanero are fantastic at what they do, but they have terrible staff and if a patient can't reach anyone in the office, what good is that to his or her health? Also, the services they provide as well as the doctor visits are EXTREMELY pricey. I have never paid so much to an endocrinologist (even with self pay). Paying this much and having no one answering the phones is just incompetent. VERY dissatisfied. Every time I arrive for blood work or an appointment there are at least 2 individuals working the front desk. There is no excuse not to answer the phone. For my first appointment at this office I was seen by Debbi Winder, PA and she was very nice and easy to work with. She wanted to see me three to four weeks following that first appointment after I had a test performed and followed several instructions given. One problem, there were no appointments for over two months. When my symptoms worsened and I called to see Dr. Manzanaro or either of his PA's the staff member was rude and totally uncaring. She does all of the talking and will not listen to the patient or customer. I have never met Dr. Manzanaro but because of the staff at his office I never will return to this unprofessionally run office!! read more

Dr. Manzanero gave me back my life. After six months of being told my "thyroid labs looks fine," by my regular doctor, while I was literally not functioning and going to bed at 3:30 in the afternoon, I got on his waitlist. Within six weeks of seeing Dr. Manzanero I had my life back. Something I honestly had given up hope for. He not only listens, he understands the nuances of thyroid disorders, which I've learned make all the difference. If you've been told repeatedly there's nothing wrong or your medication "is working just fine," let him take a deeper look. VERY expensive and they don't take insurance. You can't put a price on health, but since I only ended up with a pile of bills to pay in addition to steadily declining health, it definitely wasn't worth it. Not to mention I was paying high-end doctor prices to see a P.A. I didn't care for P.A. Debbi Winder and I didn't feel she was equipped to treat me effectively as a patient. I would not see her again or refer anyone to her. She wanted to run a lot of expensive diagnostic tests, yet there was no real or tangible course of treatment to address the medical problems I was having. After all the time and money spent, I was getting sicker, never better. They also cancelled my scheduled appointment at the last minute due to a problem on their end, then expected me to wait several weeks to get another. Wasn't worth the money, high hopes, or the hassle. I don't think this is the right place for someone with a life-affecting medical condition that needs effective and efficient medical attention and treatment. read more

Be warned! $320 for an initial consult with a nurse practitioner is deemed reasonable here. Note also that I was not told of the $320 prior to the visit - or if I was, it was a minimal mention and not in writing....but it seems quite unreasonable to charge this in ANY EVENT! Also note that the tone of the staff on the phone is quite aggressive - I have voicemails to prove it. There is a clear lack of patience and peace that you might expect from an alternative medical practice. This is the time that ten stars would be appropriate!! Dr. Manzanero is Is the most thorough Doctor of any specialty I have ever seen! A lot of Doctors just don't have answers! Human suffering is a complex thing and requires knowledge, experience, insight as well as an open mind and a closed ego. Dr. Manzanero is all that and more! His knowledge of medicine as well as homeopathy and psychiatry make him a triple threat! He is a true healer in every sense if the word. His unique style is warm and comforting. His explanations are practical and he really hears what you are saying. He has a keen sense of what is happening in the world around us and offers up to date information that is practical, useful, and life saving!! Furthermore I believe his hourly rate is COMPLETELY APPROPRIATE! Most M.D.'s would not have the patience or knowledge to do hourly consultations! A pill for every ill and out the door you go. I am so grateful to have Dr. Manzanero as my Doctor. I feel safe and I trust him implicitly. His staff has been gracious, helpful and sweet. I have been a patient for many years. I've never been treated by Dr. Manzanero personally, but this previous staff. Since Dr. Manzanero's practice has changed so has the service and knowlege of his staff. The staff is unresponsive when I called twice of a medical concern I had. After extensive, expensive testing, The nurse practiciioner I had been assigned asked me how much medicine I should take. Then I when I continued to have issues, I got no response from anyone at the office. I will be finding a new doctor. read more

AIM saved my life should be enuff said but I will divulge. I hit rock bottom in 2007 and medical doctors and endocrinologists said it was all in my head. I knew my body and I knew something was wrong with it even though the standard blood work showed different. B4 2007 I was a gym rat, highly energetic fun person, with a sharp mind. A surgery sent me into a tail spin. My life sucked; I could barely function; at times I could not speak due to overwhelming fatigue. I saw PA Debbi Winder and she had me get tests on everything the blood work did not cover. Low and behold-a major problem-she was surprised I was still working and walking with this new information. I knew I was bad off but now I had the proof. I wanted to rebuild my body and mind. I was totally depleted in neurotransmitters, adrenals, thyroid, had chronic insomnia, and digestive issues. Thru Debbi's knowledge and work with Ron they have brought me back to the living. Now I can laugh and smile. My mind serves me well. My body is strong and getting stronger every day. I know that in time I will be better than I ever was before I got sick. I highly recommend that anyone who has not gotten positive results with regular doctors come to AIM. Take charge of your life people! And as far as wait time and insurance. In these times of course a good doctor would not take insurance. They pay peanuts. This doctor's office is the best. You get what you pay for. If you want a pill and a band aid for your ailment go to an insured provider. If you want true health for your body come here. The wait of course is long because they are well sought after and they can only take so many in a day. It is worth the wait. I waited and I'm grateful I did; you will be too. This guy was terrible. I saw him a few years ago with my main complaint of weight gain. After running a battery of tests, he could mismanaged my case such that I find out later that one of the medications I was taking while being seen by him CAUSES weight gain. Thanks Dr. Manzanero. read more

I recently saw Dr. Manzanero for the first time about 7 weeks ago and will be seeing him again this Friday. I was very happy with the care I received and I have seen an improvement in my health. He explained things very well to me and made sure I understood everything he said. He takes his time to listen and understand you. He made me feel completely comfortable and never made me feel less than. I am seeing him due to my recently diagnosed Thyroid problem. We are currently in the process of getting it under control. He really listens to you and what your body is telling you. I feel much better than I have in the past. This is still new but I have complete confidence in his ability to help me to continue to get better. I have now set up an appt for my husband to see him. Friends of ours also raved about him which made us feel great in our decision to continue to use him. Dr. Manzanero saved my life! He not only helped me with my thyroid problem, but he looked beyond and we addressed those issues as well. This is a real healer. He is unconventional and that is refreshing and a much overlooked as a gift. You can get treated for your symptoms by any medical professional, but this man takes your healthcare to a new level. Dr Manzanero is associated with Dr Frank Shallenberger's Real Cures which was about alternative cures outside of traditional medicine. Real Cures has become a vehicle for the latest supplement. There are a lot of Doctors to choose from in the Austin area that offer these services. I have found them all about the same price range with a high fee $300 range for initial consultation, insurance will not accept claims for most. There are some that take insurance for medicine and lab work. I did not schedule an appointment with Dr. Manzanero mainly due to the reviews here. This is similar to a lot of those I contacted, I have seen two different ones with some success. What I hope these alternative medicine Doctors begin to realize is they need to find out why you are there and focus on that. Maybe other things are wrong but if it does not bother the patient quit trying to fix it. The second is follow up is almost non-existent, Patient management is more important when the change is more gradual. The good news is you have choices now there are a lot of doctors you can see and some are very reasonable for the same treatment. read more

LOVE Debbie Winder and Dr. Manzanero. Both are incredibly sharp in their fields, especially in pediatric asthma rescue and recovery and thyroid and immune suppressed patients. They both have a keen insight on healing the immune system at a systemic level. Dr. Manzanero and Debbie Winder have helped our family tremendously with my thyroid deficiency that was not recognized by the traditional endocrinology protocols in the US and my daughter's asthma has been improved greatly by using practices other naturopathic and allopathic doctors. Keep in mind we always do our own research and come prepared with a slew of questions and ideas of various treatments. Both Winder & Manzanero love people and research and study. Due to both of their desires to see people healed, after they found Western Med lacking in healing all, they have passionately pursued continuing education and training beyond their field of study. I am a researcher and have taken care of many family members with vascular issues, including dementia and mental illness and diabetes. I have been thoroughly impressed with Manzanero's depth and breadth of practical knowledge and memory, especially in the cardiovascular blood work, including all the latest fads for testing the cholesterol.
