I took my daughter in after school today because we wanted to check on lessons and getting a guitar repaired(strings). We saw someone behind a glass window who I recognized as the man in most of their videos online. We decided to look around the store until we could be helped. The man didn't greet us, but came out of the room and promptly asked if we had an appointment or lesson. We didn't and I explained why we were there. He stated he didn't have time (to help us) and asked me to come back later... A bit shocked, I explained I couldn't as I had other commitments later, so he went back into his little glass room and continued to what appeared to be stringing a guitar. I offered to leave my guitar there, but he didn't answer. I looked at my 7-year-old daughter who had picked out a guitar strap we were planning to buy and I asked her if she thought he was coming back... she said, "I don't think so..." After a minute or so of awkwardly standing there, he didn't return to the showroom, so we put the strap back and left. On the way out, I checked the sign in the front window that was lit up brightly displaying "open"... I guess not for us today. Worst experience in customer service I have ever experienced. My daughter and I are sorry (not sorry)for inconveniencing you and are taking our business elsewhere. read more

Just stopped in at Ron Zehel's in Amherst today. First time I've been there since I've been an adult (we are talking YEARS people). I wanted to support local business, plus I wanted my guitar strings immediately! Hours are SUPPOSED to be 11am - 5pm. It was 11:50am. Big neon sign flashing O P E N. Door is locked. Note on the door says "back at noon". Sit in car till about 12:05pm. Guy pulls up next to me yakking on Iphone. 5 more minutes pass. There is another customer waiting at the door, and a kid, looks to be a student that was dropped off in the cold, waiting too. Person yakking on phone finally gets out of car and turns out to be the "back at noon" person. (Online research after the fact lets me know that this person is Jeff Nickoloff) He lets everyone in - still talking on phone. I start looking for what I wanted on the walls, and apparently I went behind the counter...(I really couldn't tell it was a counter)...so the guy says "excuse me! you can't go back there" and I apologized. Guy still yakking on phone (about flooring and insulation R ratings). I put my hands in my pockets and wait a few more seconds...and then I kinda got pissed and walked out. So pissed that I am writing a freaking Yelp review. What kind of customer service is that? Seriously - I can get EVERYTHING cheaper on the internet, why would I come to your store? It's closed when it's advertised as open, and then I get treated like I'm going to steal stuff, and this guy ignores me. I read the other reviews on yelp: Jeff may be a great guitar teacher/player, but he sucks at customer service. Not sure if he also is the owner or not. Now I'm on Guitar Center's website ordering strings & a cheap capo. Sad. read more

I have come to this store and walked out various times I only come here if necessary and as others have said his customer service sucks the hours well if you lucky he'll be open on time he has a attitude of don't really need your business I don't know if he can teach but as others have stated his guitars are not top quality yet he don't want you to touch them I don't recommend coming to this store unless you have time to stand around for 30-45 minutes your better off to drive to Cleveland and probably get home sooner and I live in Elyria read more

Jeff was able to get a guitar I haven't played in 18 years set up to my complete satisfaction. He was priced very fairly and the work was completed quickly. It followed up a week later to ensure I was satisfied with the setup. I will be going back to him in the future. read more

Jeff at RZ Guitar Center is a great teacher and the store always has cool stuff in stock. His prices are fair. He will do a great setup on any guitar that you buy, unlike the "other" Guitar Center where all the guitars on the wall are out of tune, scratched, or have other issues. read more

A guitar shop that doesn't let you play guitars. Guy behind the counter was wigging out for wanting to look at a guitar on the wall after I had just spent $40 on a tuner and drumsticks. Some cheap off-brand POS guitar that was "vintage". God I hate that word. Please... I asked for a refund after this and he would not give it to me as part of their "policy". Will not go back again. No wonder the place is always empty and they have mostly generic gear. Go to a real music store, this place was/is bullshit. read more

I've been going to Ron Zehel's Guitar Center for all things guitar since 1998. This is a great local business that has a great selection. I personally know that Ron Renick and Jeff Nickoloff are two top rated teachers that can teach at any level. I don't get to make it out there much anymore but I always find great guitar gear at competitive prices. Jeff does excellent set-ups and has a vast knowledge of gear. If you are interested in quality instruments and instructors that are second to none, you have to do yourself a favor and go to Ron Zehel's. read more
