I just looked at the website, on 2/27/20 and there's a message that says that Dr. Moon's license has been revoked! Can't go there, then.

LOL Dr. Varley and all his staff are compassionate and very easy to talk too. Either Online, Portal Use or Calling in making appointments, paying bills, Etc., is very easy. Southern Pain Management offers all the traditional pain/nerve blocks, Radio Frequency Ablasions, Etc; Several new innovative procedures including Ketamine infusion treatments at affordable cost to patients. The science of Ketamine Infusion makes too much sense for insurance companies to my help pay for such a thing. They would much rather pay for pain medicine. To my knowledge insurance pays ZERO MONEY for Ketamine Infusion Treatments. Hunter Chatham, CRNA manages all IV Theropy, he too is excellent, professional and compassionate. He was the only doctor in the Birmingham area who was willing to refill my implanted pain pump. Before finding him, I had to drive to Slidell, LA every month to have it filled. He and his staff work together as a team. It is comforting to see teamwork in one's medical care. They are also very good at what they do, and each one plays a part in your care. I have suffered from hip and thigh pain since I had a defective hip replaced with a non-defective one. I thought that the pain was caused by all the surgery. Thank goodness Dr. Varley had other impressions. He discovered that the pain was emanating from my spine and that Radio Frequency Ablation (RFA) was the solution. I had been having it performed on the other side of my spine for several years, with good results. Walking without pain is truly amazing, after suffering with it for so many years. I highly recommend Southern Pain Specialists for anyone with back/spine problems.

I highly recommend this pain specialist, and I have several reasons why. Yes, I have used his…read moreservices in the past, but my trust in him goes beyond just being a patient. He has also been my anesthesiologist for two of my surgeries, and I have always felt completely comfortable and confident in his care. Before one of my ankle surgeries, he performed a nerve block behind my knee. His bedside manner was exceptional--he was kind, compassionate, professional, and genuinely down-to-earth. He took the time to make sure I was comfortable and understood what was happening. When you have had multiple experiences with a doctor and continue to trust that person with your care, that says a lot. I can honestly say that I have nothing but positive things to say about him and would absolutely recommend him to anyone looking for a pain specialist. I have read some of the negative reviews, and honestly, I just can't understand them based on my personal experiences. Everyone's experience is different, of course, but I can only speak from my own--and mine have been very positive. I trust him, I respect him, and I would not hesitate to recommend him to my family and friends. The only issue I can take part in is when Pain blocks or administered. I am not sure why the patient is left awake every Pain block I have ever received. The patient is in a twilight type sleep.

She was always kind, respectful, and welcoming -- she knew patients by name and made every visit easier. I really hated to see her go, and honestly the service hasn't felt the same since. But today I met Brittany, and she has by far been the best part of my experience in a long time. I'm not sure if she's a nurse or what her exact role is, but she came into the room with genuine concern and compassion. She actually seemed like she cared about me as a patient -- and that makes a huge difference. Some people come to work just for a check, but Brittany showed real care, patience, and empathy. Thank you, Brittany. You truly made my day, and I just wanted to shout you out for treating people the way they deserve to be treated.

My experience with Cahaba Pain and Spine was disappointing…read more I was a patient for approximately six months and did not feel that my concerns were adequately addressed or that there was a proactive approach to managing my pain. Despite ongoing symptoms and significant impacts on my quality of life, progress was limited during my time there. One interaction that particularly stood out involved a nurse practitioner who repeatedly insisted that I maintain eye contact while speaking with him. As a neurodivergent patient, difficulty with eye contact is well documented in my medical records. Rather than accommodating that difference, I felt pressured and uncomfortable during the appointment. Healthcare providers do not have to fully understand every neurodivergent experience, but patients should be treated with respect and without being made to feel that their communication style is a problem. What ultimately confirmed my concerns was that after transferring my care to another pain management practice, more diagnostic work, treatment planning, and meaningful intervention occurred within days than I experienced during six months at Cahaba. Every patient's experience is different, but based on my own, I would not recommend this practice for neurodivergent individuals or for patients seeking a collaborative, proactive approach to pain management.
