My husband and I have played with photography in the past and were really picky on who we would choose for our big day. We were blown away by Manuel's website and work. He responded quickly to my online inquiry and any and every random question I had. Due to Covid, this was the only person besides our family and minister that would be at our wedding. He arrived at the location before we did, which I didn't expect, because I'm usually the first one everywhere. I met him and his lovely wife/assistant and was instantly at ease. I didn't even have to ask, they immediately starting documenting our big day. They gave direction when we asked, but it was like they weren't even there, yet they captured every single special moment, ones even I missed. Our family left talking about how nice and professional they were. We received our pictures back FAST, and holy crap... I cried out of happiness as I looked through them. They were so good, I literally don't know how to pick which ones to print to put on the wall. Every time I look through them, I find even more that I love and appreciate. Unlike many other high quality, professional wedding photographers we researched whose prices are astronomical, Manuel's pricing is reasonable, affordable, flexible, and it allowed us to stay within our budget, which we greatly appreciated. For our engagement photo session, we met Manuel at a beautiful beach in the Carmel area just before sunset. It turned out to be an ideal spot for our engagement photo shoot and we were very happy with how the photos turned out. The setting was gorgeous, lighting ideal, and there was hardly anybody else there. Manuel helped put us at ease immediately with his relaxed manner and professionalism, which made it easy for us to follow his instructions and get some great candid and posed shots. Manuel's top-of-the-line camera equipment takes amazing photos with him at the helm. Melissa helped out with the backlighting and instructing us on ideal hand and body positions for the shots. We highly recommend doing the engagement photo session. It gave us a chance to get to know Manuel & Melissa and to develop rapport and an easy working relationship with them prior to the wedding. So, on our wedding day, we knew what to expect and already felt at ease working together. Prior to the wedding, Manuel promptly answered all our questions and we also had a great final conversation with him about our specific photography wishes/preferences for our wedding day. Manuel & Melissa delivered in every way. On our wedding day, they showed up early to familiarize themselves with the venue since they hadn't been there before. As a team, they captured all the most important moments of our day, as well as the memorable details. They also did a great job capturing the setting, including the food, the dinner reception set up, the flowers, and beautiful aspects of the venue. Notably, despite the fact that our wedding got off schedule because our ceremony ran longer than we had anticipated, Manuel & Melissa adapted to the situation admirably and went with the flow, doing their best to capture family photos after the ceremony, even though we essentially ran out of time for them! They improvised beautifully under the circumstances. When we received our 1000+ wedding photos from Manuel a few weeks after the wedding, we were blown away. She had postponed the actual large reception in Southern California but wanted to keep her original wedding date. I contacted Nick after seeing some of his photos on instagram and seeing his positive reviews on yelp. He was very easy to work with- I explained I just wanted to capture this special day and decided to hire him for 3 hours. On the day of the ceremony Nick was on time and totally adapted to a "wedding in a home." He was so easy going and such a pleasure to work with. He jumped right in showing my son in law how to attach his boutonnière. He knew exactly what photos he wanted but also asked us numerous times if there was anything special we wanted. We were hoping to capture a few photos of just the bride and groom at a local park and he was familiar with the park and took some amazing photos of new couple. The turn around time for the pictures was quicker than expected and we were beyond thrilled with his work. By far one of the best features for us was that both my daughter and my husband and I could download the photos separately. This worked perfect as we live far apart. We would use Nick again in a heartbeat!

But I was…read moreappalled and disgusted by the professionalism and lack of responsibility from his Assistant/Business coordinator. We called and had her pencil us in for our wedding date. She said that we were the first ones to inquire about that date but should someone else also inquire about the date, we would need to commit to putting down a deposit or risk loosing the reservation. (Totally normal and reasonable.) She called and said there were a few others that mentioned some interest but no one was ready to put down a deposit. We made it clear we were 99% sure we want to book him but was waiting to chat with him briefly on the phone. She said he takes Mondays/Tuesdays off and wouldn't be able to chat. In my mind, I had just one thing I wanted to ask him (really just wanted to get a good vibe from him so I can put the deposit down with a settled mind). Again, she assured us that if someone came in with the deposit, she would come to us first and we can choose to forgo it or put a deposit down ourselves. Well, she basically lied to us. She strung us along and then bold faced lied. She cowardly sent an email saying sorry but she booked our date with someone and they put a deposit down and basically we're SOL. Leaving us scrambling for a new photographer and going back on her word and everything she said. We picked up the phone immediately and said "hey wait, we'll put the deposit down if that's what you need?" and her response was sorry but it's a friend. Done. If you are a bride and are dependent on people to build all the pieces in your wedding, my advice is to not just look at the flowers, the photos, the cake, but pay attention to the business practices, the ethics, and the reliability on the people behind the cake, flowers, photos, etc. otherwise, it won't matter how great the flowers are, if they don't show up or decide to go back on their word. What an awful feeling Larry has made for all of us.... I will be sure to let everyone know of this experience. Such a let down. :-(
