My husband and I were in the market to buy a boat that Fox Yacht Sales had posted online. We were…read moreso serious about that particular boat, that we almost thought about buying it unseen. I emailed Peter Fox on Thursday, Oct 17, early that morning before business hours, hoping to receive an email back once he got to work. When he didn't respond by lunch time, I called him. He had seen my email but hadn't taken the time to respond. We talked about the boat and financing options, and corresponded by email throughout the afternoon. Once we had a pre-approval from the bank, I called Peter Friday morning. He suggested that we go to Port Aransas to take the boat on a sea trial. I told him that we would be able to drive there on Saturday, the 19th. I couldn't give him a definite time, but he said that normal business hours are 10-4 on Saturday and if he wasn't there, to call him and he would meet us at the lot, as he lives very close by. I was under the impression that he understood that we would be there Saturday. We arrived in Port Aransas just before lunch time on that Saturday. No one was at the lot, but there was a note on the door, left by 'Dee', that he was out showing boats and to call him. Having been dealing with Peter, we opted to call him instead of calling Dee. Peter didn't answer, so I left a message. We love Port Aransas and are pretty easy going people, so we decided to go have lunch and wait for Peter's call. We had planned to spend the entire day in Port A, maybe even the night if necessary. Peter called about an hour later and said that he didn't know we were coming. He was waiting for a package to be delivered but could call us when he was headed to the lot. He also wasn't sure if the boat was ready to be put in the water. WHAT? First, how do you have a boat posted for sale that isn't ready to be put in the water? Second, why would you not make sure that it was ready when a customer told you 2 days prior to driving 250 miles (one way)? Or tell me, when I initially asked about the boat, that it may be some time before we could trial it? Or call the person who should be at the lot and ask them to get it ready?? Do SOMETHING. He said that once he was able to go to the lot, he would call us, as we were just around the corner, and we could meet him there - it would probably be about an hour. He also said that if he got there before us, he would go ahead and check on the status of the boat. Once we got the call, we headed over to meet him. Peter wasn't there - only Dee was. He said that Peter hadn't been there all afternoon. We told Dee that Peter was supposed to be meeting us there, and Dee instructed us to wait. After waiting for over an hour, Dee called Peter. They had a very cryptic conversation, and Peter told Dee to tell me to call him. HUH? You couldn't just ask Dee to hand me the phone?? So I called Peter. Again, he said that he didn't know we were coming. I reminded him that I was clear when I said we would be there Saturday. He dismissed that comment and went on to tell me that he had already been to the lot, and we weren't there, so he went ahead and checked on the boat and it definitely isn't ready to go in the water. Again, WHAT?! You were at the lot, AND LEFT??? Knowing that we were in Port A??? Before we got there? It took us 10 minutes to get there. Then....he tells me that the boat HAS NOT BEEN SERVICED SINCE THEY GOT IT. As far as anyone can tell from the website, Peter is the used boat salesman. Pretty sure that he already knew that the boat couldn't be put in the water, and my husband and I are convinced that Peter never went to the lot that day, and that we drove over 500 miles FOR NOTHING. The guy never even apologized ONCE for any trouble we may have gone through. He just kept telling me that he didn't know we were coming. His final statement during that phone conversation on Saturday was that he would have the boat serviced and contact me as soon as it was ready. Bet you already guessed that I still haven't heard from him!! If I was the boat owner, I'd be extremely unhappy that someone wanted to buy my boat and the salesman lost the sale. If I knew how to contact the owner directly, I would. The boat is still posted for sale.

The problem is that I don't think these guys know how to operate beyond just a few workers. We used to take our jet ski's to these guys when they were on SPID because they did a good job, quickly, and for a fair price. When they moved we took our jet ski's over to the new location because they needed some work. They were going to have to rebuild one of them. I get this information after they had the PWC for about a month. I give them the green light. I follow up and follow up, no progress. I finally get BBB involved and they finally get one of the two PWC fixed up. The one that needed the rebuild never got it done. I don't think they had the money to order the parts or something. I really don't know. After about 6 months we got our PWC back and they had let them sit in the sun for the entire time. Baking the vinyl and the fiberglass. We since gave the PWC away. I don't know that there are a lot of options in Corpus for PWC but if you have another choice I'd go with it. I was very reasonable in terms of communicating and I was very understanding about the ball getting dropped. At the end of the day these guys just failed me. They didn't used to, it wasn't until the business got beyond their control.
