I had a leak in my roof and even before I received my quote Randy the owner came out himself and fixed several issues with my roof. I got a few quotes and Roof Doctors was the best quote which was great because after meeting Randy, I knew I found my roofing contractor. Randy is as down to earth and straightforward person as you could hope for. I appreciate an owner who is involved in the job. Communication was great, timely, professional and polite. Work was done in a timely fashion and Randy provided me nearly 50 pictures of before, during and after stages. I saw what was wrong with my roof (did a tear off not a reroof) and how it was fixed. Had some bad boards (it's dimensional lumber not sheathing as it's an old house). I have new gutters and gutter guards that still look great in the photos. I hired the Roof Doctors to repair my roof in Champaign. they went above and beyond! they recommended vents that have already lowered my utility costs and alerted me to corrosion on the metal chimney. the corrosion was damaging the furnace but I couldn't see it. I had the chimney and furnace fixed and everything is great. thanks to their warning I was able to fix everything before real damage was done. the roof is solid and looks good, they were prompt and didn't leave a mess. they gave me a good price too. read more

Yes I liked the owner. He was helpful recently due to the bad storms we had. Our roof wasn't hit bad but we will need other repairs. I like it when the owner comes and talks to me. I'd give 5 stars but since we didn't hire I feel 4 is appropriate as I don't know their work ethic. My sense is they are good. So we will keep them in mind. read more

We had a small water spot showing on the ceiling of our second floor bedroom. My dad and brother both told me to call Randy (owner) at Roof Doctors, as he'd replaced both of their roofs, and the roof of their church. Randy came by, and within a couple of moments on the roof, he'd found the offending loose shingle and bent nails that were causing the leak. He fixed them, along with several other nails in the vicinity and even cleaned out my second-floor gutters for a minimal additional charge. All in, I had my roof repaired AND my gutters cleaned for less than it would have cost me to hire another company to clean the gutters. Seriously, customer for life. read more

I had Randy and his company install a roof in 2012 because there was a leak from my dormer coming into my living room. The quote process and time spent working were fine, and I felt the price was appropriate for the work done. However, where things fell apart was a couple years later when I discovered that not only was the original leak still present, but a new problem had developed. I first noticed that something was amiss in my master bedroom in 2014 where the plaster was starting to crumble on a particular section of wall that is next to the chimney. I called him about it, they insisted that there wasn't a problem but they'd send someone up to look at it. Turns out the counter-flashing around the chimney was torn, and he claimed it must have been an animal, and he fixed it for free. When I sent the pictures he provided me of the animal damage to three different roof inspectors, they told me that an animal couldn't have done it, and the counter-flashing was most likely torn during installation and not fixed then. I presented Randy with this evidence and he got visibly angry with me for calling him a liar, despite three of his peers being unable to corroborate his statement and him not having personally gone on the roof to inspect the damage. The original leak started to return in 2017, to which I called him and asked him to honor his warranty and fix this. He claimed, again without going on the roof himself, that there was no problem with his installation and the leak is coming from a crack in the vinyl siding (which sits on top of the original wood siding). I hired a home inspector to verify this claim, and after thermal imaging we learned that the dormer was still leaking. The inspector said it was most likely poorly installed flashing, to which Randy refused to believe and said I would have to hire someone to go up and confirm that, again refusing to honor his warranty. In 2020, the leak had gotten bad enough that it was causing plaster problems, so I got quotes from more reputable roofers who did go on the roof, removed the siding on the dormer, and confirmed the flashing was not properly installed. I hired one of them to do the repair, and notified Randy that he would need to pay for this as he refused to honor his own warranty or stand behind his own work. His office staff initially responded, asking for the quote and photo evidence, which I provided. Once I stated that I was expecting to be reimbursed for a sizable portion of the installation, they stopped responding. read more

I write this review as a massive thunderstorm bears down on my newly installed roof! I hired Roof Doctors for a total tear off and replacement after I lost shingles from wind damage this spring. Randy (the owner) is straight forward, professional, and friendly. He came to my house and talked me through his estimate and also the insurance claim, which I'd never had to do before -- and honestly, didn't know that I could, until he said it! He further let me know that he doesn't pressure potential customers (totally true, I was ready to hire him on the spot, and he said, "Well, give yourself a day to make a decision"), and pays his workers fairly (which is important to me). My roof is steep (requiring some special prep), and the weather has been crazy hot and humid these last few days, but Roof Doctors completed both the house and the detached garage in three days (they also replaced the three vents). The guarantee is solid ("Call me whenever if you have a question about the roof, you're not bugging me!"), and in addition, Roof Doctors goes that little extra mile and registers the warranties for the materials with the manufacturers for their customers, so we don't have to! I was "fortunate" enough to spring a leak in my bedroom this winter. I called for multiple estimates. My house is almost 100 years old and one company refused to work on it because it still has so much original wood. Then Randy came and saved the day, as well as my plaster ceilings! Randy, the owner, came out for the estimate. He was very friendly and took time to explain what we needed done, what our options were, and the price it was going to be. Out of the estimates that we received, this one was by far the best price and had the best warranty. We get a 50 year warranty! Besides the price, there were a couple other reasons that made Roof Drs the obvious choice for us: 1) 50 year warranty-even if they go out of business we're still covered by manufacturer of the shingles 2)You get a certificate with the warranty that is transferrable to the new owner if/when we sell our house 3) they don't sub-contract (they don't use inexperienced day laborers) 4) You don't pay any money up front, you pay when the job is done and you're satisfied with the job Our roof was put on in two and a half days. They did a great job cleaning up after themselves. The crew that we had was the same crew everyday. I'm really happy with the job they did. The price was right, the work was good, and best of all, my ceiling no longer leaks! We have already recommended Roof Dr. to a couple different friends who need some work done. BIG thanks!! EDIT: Just wanted to add something. In the big wind that we had (50 mph) on Leap Day 2012, we had some of the new shingles blow off, maybe 8 or so along where the two edges of the roof meet. (My husband thinks part of the problem was that since we got the roof in the winter and haven't had a hot day, the strip of tar on the back of the shingles hasn't melted and sealed good yet). I hired Roof Doctors after getting four bids for a total tear off and replacement. My boyfriend and I felt like Roof Doctors (and Randy, who seems to own it) were straight shooters and professional. They exceeded our expectations. The job was done, start to finish, in just over two days, and it looks great. They are clear in telling you when they'll be by, what to expect, the terms of the warranty, etc. The job looks great (come by if you want to look: 2204 Pond St in Urbana--though the shingles will take a couple of weeks to settle), and I could not have been happier with the professionalism of the crew. Time will tell if the job holds up, but I have no reason to expect it won't (and will update if need be). A few notables: the two guys who seemed to be the supervisors of the job came by of their own initiative on Sunday to double check the clean up (and because they forgot to toss a door into the dumpster--which they offered to do for me, just to be nice). I had thought the clean up looked pretty good. Not perfect (a few tar strips here and there in the lawn--but frankly I have low expectations of contractors in this town), but these two were unequivocal, 'We'll be sending two guys to do better clean up tomorrow--this is unacceptable." In addition, they installed two bathroom vents in the roof for two fans being installed simultaneously by another contractor (who turned out to be TERRIBLE), so that it would be covered by the roof warranty. I am so glad *they* installed the vents, instead of the terrible contractor. Anyway, I'm extremely happy so far, and cannot recommend Roof Doctors highly enough. Top notch. read more

He was also honest about how busy they were and when I could expect my roof to be completed. They were spot on for the completion date. The material was dropped off and the next day Roof Doctors showed up for the installation. At the end of the day my new roof was on. The crew worked as quiet as they could and were very conscientious of our being home since it was the weekend. Although I didn't have any work done by the Roof Doctors (only an estimate), I can say without a doubt that this is one of, if not the most professional roofing company in the area. The owner Randy, was extremely honest and upfront about my roofing needs. He didn't try to sell me some work that didn't need to be done. So I don't need a roof at this time, but when that time comes I WILL NOT call anyone else. Any roofing work that I need done either now or in the future will go straight to them. I consider myself a good read on people (been in management for quite a while), and I can say that Randy is an honest individual. I can only assume that if the people he hires are half the quality person he is, I would have no problem letting them onto my property or even in my home. Very happy with Roof Doctors. We had planned to have them put a roof on our house this spring, but in Jan/Feb we had a leak. Randy sent someone out to put a tarp on and he moved us up on the schedule. We have a 2 story roof and were also doing 2 additional roofs on our property, so a little bigger job. Once the weather broke, they came out and got started. It was windy, rainy, snowy, etc. They worked through what they could as it was safe and got our roof done. We were so happy to have it fixed timely and with a reasonable price (is that even possible with a roof? ha ha ha ) It was a decent price and the workers were very responsible and skilled. It was a pleasure to have them here working and yes, they worked hard. no sitting around or playing on their phones; they worked! they were honest when issues arose and we solved them together. The short version is that we asked Roof Doctors to evaluate the roof of a house we were looking to buy, and they gave us misleading information. We made a major financial decision based on this information. Randy did not give us the full story on the condition of the roof. Even one of his own employees told us there were problems with the roof, but of course this was after we had already bought the house. Starting at the beginning... The home inspector called out a damaged shingle on the east slope of the roof and recommended that we have a qualified roofing contractor evaluate the roof. Our realtor recommended having Roof Doctors look at the roof since they had previously done work on the west slope of the roof. Randy, the owner, was the one that evaluated our roof. He told the the realtor that there was nothing wrong with the roof and that there was nothing that needed repairs. I called Randy to ask him about this evaluation, because it conflicted with what the inspector told me. Randy assured me that he went up on the roof and that there were no problems. After I bought the house, I noticed a slipped shingle on the roof. I called Roof Doctors to come back out and look at the roof again. This took several phone calls to make happen. Randy sent one of his employees this time. His employee gave me a very different report of the condition of my roof. He only went up on the ladder in one place (the rear slope over the garage). He did not walk the entire roof. From that one place he said he could see several slipped shingles. He said that the shingles he could reach were not installed properly. They were nailed too high (above the double thick part of the shingle). This means that there is only one row of nails through each shingle and that they are closer to the top edge and through the thinner part of the shingle. This makes it easier for wind to get under and lift up the shingles. And it makes the shingles more likely to slip. He also said that this poor installation could lead to the top part of the shingle separating from the bottom of the shingle, but he did not see that happening from where he was. I told the employee that I was not happy with the situation and that he should report back to Randy with his findings. A few days later he called me back and told me that Randy stood by his original assessment of the roof. I asked the employee to have Randy personally contact me regarding this issue. Randy did not call me back. We then had two other roofing companies walk the roof. They both gave us bad news. There are slipped shingles on both the north and south rear slopes. They both told us about the poorly installed shingles which appear to be everywhere on the rear slopes. One of them told us that he found shingles with only two nails in them. And some nails had blown through the shingles. Both roofing companies recommend repairs. Randy finally replied to one of my emails and said that he still stood by his original evaluation of the roof. Randy should have given me the full story about the condition of my roof when he first looked at it. He made no offer to help me out with the repairs that the roof needed. I did not want to wait for the roof to start leaking before fixing the problem so I had a different roofing company come out and fix the slipped shingles. I will have to have them come out once or twice a year to check on them, until I can get the roof redone. read more

We were new homeowners and couldn't afford to do the whole thing at once, so Randy helped us do the half that was leaking one summer, and the rest the next. We were so pleased with the professionalism, service, and quality, that we had him come back several years later to do the garage. Fast forward a bit and we have a new home, which suffered a good deal of hail damage. Roof Doctors replaced our whole roof, faster than expected.
