I have always been a fan of Rook's coffee, their granola bars and scones I enjoy as well. The coffee is typically on point. I usually go towards a medium or dark roast, each cup is brewed fresh. On my last visit I ordered a pumpkin style (I think that's what they call it) and I was disappointed. I'm not even sure what it tasted like. It wasn't coffee and it wasn't pumpkin or pumpkin spice, it was just weak overall. Live and learn, I'll stay away from that flavor going forward. The store itself is cool, with concrete flooring and very industrial style with lots of reclaimed wood and metal. Service for the most part is good, I'd love to know where they get all these hipster employees with various piercings and odd tattoos. To sum it up Rook has good coffee, sometimes the wait is a little longer than I'd like bc each cup is brewed fresh which is actually a good thing. Service can be a bit off at times but it's usually good overall. I am a fan of Rook and I recommend giving them a try and don't bother with that Starbucks across the street. read more

Love Rook!!! This place does get very crowded and a bit chaotic with the setup. However, their limited edition cold brew flavors are so worth the wait. They roast the beans with extracts for their limited edition flavors so you don't get ANY syrup taste to the coffee - which is extremely smooth. Right now they have Toffee and it's super tasty. I would highly recommend this place and they are blowing up - so must be doing something right. I got a Rook pin to put on my denim jacket because DUH - fashion. It was my first time coming to any Rook location and although it was a busy Monday afternoon, the lady at the counter took the time to explain all the coffee options and what to expect from each one. I love love love this place! They have a great variety, including decaf options. The staff really knows their coffee, and they are all incredibly friendly. The coffee is all pour over, which is amazing. I'm currently addicted to their pumpkin spice. Which has no added fake syrup flavors like other coffee places. It's all spices. They have a great variety of milks to choose from. Including non-dairy options. They also have carry regular white sugar and sugar in the raw. The service is fast and proficient. If you are on the go, you can even text your order ahead of time. They have bagels and scones available. I've never tried the scones but their bagels are pretty good! Would be a nice option to have it toasted. I prefer this store over the Ocean Township one, not for any other reason besides the convenience and the area. read more

They offer many specialty coffee blends from all over the world like Nicaragua Sumatra New Orleans etc and they're all great. Each cup is made individually in front of you and everything is so robust and full of flavor. It's a little intimidating at first because you don't know exactly how it works and they're choices are all written on a blackboard but it's pretty cool. I guess what they do is change their available flavored on a daily basis. I cannot stress enough how good each cup is. The atmosphere is hipsterish like I came in the other day after hiking during the rain with my outer wear stuff on and the people with skinny jeans looked at me like I was a weirdo a little bit but I'm okay with that. One of the reviews said their branding is super cool and it is. You have to check it out and you will definitely not be disappointed!!! Really really good coffee. And the prices aren't bad either. I was between two coffee places in the area and I chose here because of the great reviews. First off, they don't have espresso or lattes. They have "latte style" which is really just concentrated coffee and not espresso. Not the same thing. Second, I got a baked good which was not fresh at all. Tasted like it had been sitting out for a while. Not sure what the hype is about this place unless you prefer words written on your cup over good food/coffee. If a Rook barista accidentally spilled hot coffee on me, causing a trip to the ER, I'd make the ambulance staff get me one for the ride. I first had this coffee in 2013 when I worked in Red Bank (Little Silver shop) and it was love and lust at first sip. It combines everything a coffee snob wants: quality coffee, good price and the vibe you'd expect. Rook has a good product but it is complete chaos in the store. It is unclear where to order, where to stand, then where to pay. The service isn't great either. Due to these two issues: they are WAAAAAAAY overpriced. They need to set up clear lines so customers know where to stand. Management needs to remind the baristas to look up from making coffee and acknowledge customers standing in front of them. For the price, they should be able to provide MUCH better service and organization. I ONLY GO there if I have a lot of time to kill and want to be ignored. read more
