First, Jana knew that my sweetheart and I don't drink alcohol, so Jana prepared non-alcoholic champagne! This was a special treat for us, as normally, we simply deny the alcohol and swallow the cost (that's already included in the deal). I have to admit that this location is the nicest one I've been to. It's spacious and very fresh and clean in all the different areas of the spa. They have a nice and relaxing waiting co-ed lounge where you can have some tea, juice, fruit infused water and fruit. The amenities are not co-ed. There is a jacuzzi, steam room, and sauna, and plenty of showers. Everything is kept very clean so that is very much appreciated. The staff were all very nice and helpful as well. They do validate parking for the parking structure that is within the Topanga Village (don't park in the outside 90 min parking, instead drive up into the structure towards Total Wines). I am definitely coming back to this location, even though there are several other Burke Williams locations closer to me.

Instead, I was told my appointment had been changed to 1:30 PM. After I showed them my confirmation, the front desk acknowledged that Burke Williams had accidentally changed my reservation without notifying me. At that point, I had no choice but to rush. I had just come from work in the summer heat and didn't want to lie face down on a massage table covered in sweat and makeup. Instead of beginning my spa day feeling relaxed, I was stressed and scrambling because of a mistake that wasn't mine. My massage therapist was wonderful, and this review is not a reflection of her. She gave a great massage, but even that couldn't undo the stressful start to the experience. By the time I was finally able to relax, my massage was almost over. The front desk initially offered me a discount. I was the one who asked whether they could also include a complimentary enhancement, and they agreed. A friend recommended the Sherman Oaks branch, so I emailed the manager ahead of time for therapist recommendations. First impression: if it's your first time here, finding the location can be confusing. There aren't any large Burke Williams signs, and I actually had to call the branch to confirm they were inside the mall area. Parking is also a bit of a walk, and signage could definitely be improved. For reference, they're located next to 24 Hour Fitness on the second floor, Building A. Once inside, though, the experience improved immediately. I was greeted right away by two friendly receptionists, and check-in was quick and easy. Since it was my first time at this location, I asked if someone could show me around -- honestly, that probably should've been offered proactively. The men's spa attendant gave me a tour, and the interior reminded me a lot of the West Hollywood location: darker, older, and more traditional in style. One thing another Yelper mentioned was absolutely true -- the place feels like a maze, especially since the massage rooms are upstairs on another level. My therapist, Giovanni, was great. He asked about my preferred pressure before the session started, although he didn't really check in during the massage itself. That said, he definitely has his own massage style, and overall I enjoyed the treatment. The men's spa area was surprisingly quiet, which made for a peaceful experience. Anyways, I showed my Groupon she read it it out loud. It was a 90 minute foot flexology Hot Stone therapeutic massage. I get shown to the room, get greeted by the masseuse and I prep for massage. She was wonderful. I'm sorry I forget her name! Time went by and it wrapped. It didn't feel like my normal 90 minutes. So once you was out the door and I look and found a clock I see it was only 1 hour. I quickly pulled on my top and pants, left the room barefoot to find someone and no one was around. I found an office door and knocked and when opened i said that my appointment was 90 minutes. The ladies apologized same saying that it was written down as 60. I remember speaking to a man, which is why I believe this is on the manager's fault. No one else. After discussion amongst them and apologies I was shown back to the room prepped again and was given the rest of 30 minutes. This was incredibly disruptive to getting that full 90 minute experience. But again, the massage itself was great and if it wasn't for these two big things they would have been given five stars. I will give it another shot. And will emphasize the 90 minutes, which is what I always get when I get massages and make sure that the masseuse knows as well and hopefully my next experience will go smoother.
