This is a hidden gem in the magic city. The amount of animals kept here is pretty astounding for the size of the town. The zookeepers and staff are a delight to work with personally and professionally. The events held for Halloween, holidays, etc. get busy but are a joy for the kids. Honest review, cons- the bears live in stagnant poop water it would be WAY better but f that water was flowing for them since they're swimming in their own leavings. the bird aviary is VERY pungent of bird poo there definitely needs to be better ventilation in there for safety reasons to be perfectly honest. And the food court could use some love, maybe bring in local food trucks to use the food court area to bring in business. Pros- for a small zoo it's pretty great for the kids, they have monkeys, lions, tigers and giraffe feedings at 11am with a kids area and goats they can feed. All in all for a small town in the middle of North Dakota, it's not bad and worth checking out the variety of animals they have. Bring sunblock! read more

I was seriously impressed with this zoo! This might be the one redeeming quality about this city, save the Dakota Air Museum. The zoo is filled with all types of animals. This is not a fly-by-night attraction that will one day be erased from the annals of Minot, ND, and here is why. - They have a newly renovated tiger exhibit that rivals even the National D.C. zoo tiger exhibit. You can virtually always see the tigers in this enclosure from multiple angles. - The lion exhibit and attraction are amazing and the kids love it. Once again, you are able to see the lions from almost any angle of the enclosure. - They have penguins...that's all that needs to be said about that. - Train rides through the park are available. - If you want, you can feed the giraffes at a very reasonable price. - Across the river, there is an interactive park for kids as well as a petting zoo and otters. - ...and literally much more. Honestly, I'm not trying to church this place up. When my family and I were here for three long years this was a welcomed oasis in an otherwise culturally dry desert. This is a GREAT zoo. Minot has about 50,000 people and this zoo is on par with a place 10x that size. Wide variety of animals with often a way to see the animals from 3 or 4 sides. Large enclosures for most animals; giving them plenty of room to roam. New tiger exhibit with several different viewing areas. There's a children's zoo area where you can feed some animals. We spent about 90 minutes here and got howled at by monkeys, approached by giraffes (in non-COVID times, you could feed them), snorted at by warthogs, watched a reindeer play with a ball, and in September - there weren't a lot of people. One food stand was open in the middle of the zoo. There's a river that runs through the middle; giving a peaceful aura. I wouldn't say "social" distancing in that the entire staff was very social and friendly; but "physical" distancing was easy. Plenty of space. read more

We really love this zoo. The fact that it was not overwhelmingly huge was a plus for me. The tiger would roar on the hour every hour and set the monkeys off which would also set off the lemurs. We enjoyed the train ride inside the park and there was also a concession stand. There was a kiddy area where they could feed some of the smaller animals and the kids love the gray wolves out of all the animals. If you're in the area and you have small children I would highly recommend you take them by. Bathrooms clean not expensive to get in. read more

Cute little zoo. Admission is free for 3 and under, $3.75 for 4 to 12, and $7 for ages 13 and up. I really enjoyed the childrens zoo. Give the little ones time to feed the animals and pet them up close. I hear they've got a Christmas at the Zoo special coming up soon. The workers there say the zoo animals really come to life and are just absolutely gorgeous during the winter months. read more

Could have been worse ... it's like waking through a parking lot and seeing animals in various cages. Not impressed.

My kids love the zoo. We are from Denver Colorado but always make sure we stop by the zoo to see what's going on. Loved seeing all the flower boxes filled with lettuce kale, and other vegetables. Can't wait to see the new lion exhibit next time we come back. We love the fact that it never seem to overcrowded here. read more

Pretty lonely and dead, however almost more employees working there than animals to see! A lot of the animals were unavailable! The bird building in the middle of the zoo smelled so bad from rotting, cut down trees I couldn't even stay in there to look. The bear cage was being "cleaned" the whole visit so we didn't get to see them. Little kid farm area had very few animals, mostly bunnies...pretty lame. read more

When taken into prospective that Minot is a rather small town the Zoo is great. The animals are breeding so something must be going right. It is a cute little zoo. read more
