Roosters is one of my favourite coffee chains in Toronto - but this location ain't it. It sucks that it's so close to home too, because I thought I'd be here everyday but I've been even leaning more towards starbucks than this. The coffee is actually good - the lattes, americanos etc. The honey ginger latte is honestly amazing, it's been a fave of mine for almost 10 years now, when I first had it at the bloor/sherbourne location. I'll say their drinks are always consistent. The interior is also very homey, love the vibe and decor of this place, especially the comfy couch in the back. It''s a cute place for a sip! The staff here are just so dry, it ruins the coffee experience for me. They're just so 'gen z staff' coded with their empty stares, no expression and like buying a coffee and supporting the biz is bothering them or taking up their time. Those tiktoks that make fun of niche coffee baristas giggling amongst themselves and then instantly turning to the counter with zero warmth - that is this place to a tee. I think out of all the times I've been here, there's been one nice staff (the asian girl) and everyone else has just been so uninviting. From the cashier experience all the way to waiting for your drink, you feel uncomfortable and like you're begging for a favour even though YOU'RE PAYING AND THE MACHINE IS gOiNg tO aSk YoU a FeW qUeStIoNs! and trust me, tip or no tip, that has not changed the attitude of the staff. Won't be returning. Ive been working in the building next door for a couple weeks and usually stop in for a drink multiple times a week. Sometimes I would pop in on my lunch break to sit and eat, and most always purchase a drink. The one time I sat down and started eating my sandwich before purchasing a drink, I was reprimanded and embarrassed by a man who I assume is the manager publicly in front of other customers. The way I see it, when someone is a repeat customer and familiar face, you build that relationship and let them frequent your space. Very rude. I prefer to support a small business, but unfortunately I will be taking my morning and coffee/lunch breaks at Starbucks instead. Coffee is on par with any other coffee shop. Not much in the way of pastries and food, the selection is pretty average. read more

Cafe 1/50 - @roostercoffee . . . Elaborated Review; This is hands down one of the coolest cafes I've been to on King St E & here is everything I love about Rooster Coffee. The minimalistic interiors are welcoming, if you are looking to just hang out with a friend/study/work/doomscroll. The coffee is hard to describe, let me just say it's so yum! You gotta try it yourself. They get their own signature blends made but that's not even the best part. You have a few options of blends you can try from. Something for everyone :) The crew is super helpful & patient when it comes to suggesting. You won't go hungry in this cafe, quite literally! You have your fresh baked goods but also salads or chia pudding & guess what? If you don't feel like coffee/tea they even sell wine & beers! Now we are talking. Lol. The toilets! I ordered honey ginger tea as recommended by sales person, it was made from powder and was extremely spicy. When I asked the same person at counter if I could change it for a different drink she stated I would need to purchase a new drink because otherwise it's like I'd be getting a "free drink." This area of Downtown Toronto (between Jarvis and the DVP) has some truly elite Third Wave coffeehouses, and Rooster is one of them. The cold brew that I usually have at Rooster is excellent. Not bitter at all, super flavourful, and almost sweet to some extent even when taken black. But the best part is that it's CONSISTENTLY excellent. I've yet to have an experience where the barista "botched" a batch of cold brew, and that's the makings of a great coffeehouse. The "patio" area that they set up during the pandemic isn't great. It's King St. E, so it's loud and you'll have the occasional oddball mosey on over to you to ask for change/weird sex stuff. Par for the course around this neighbourhood. But aside from that, my experience at Rooster is always pleasant and comforting. Give it a try when you're in the neighbourhood! read more

A cosy little coffee shop with a cute name and sign, how can you not stop in when you are in the hood. Located on King St E this is a small spot that seems to be always busy - so don't be surprised if you can't get a seat. You can get some pastries here - I tried the ginger molasses cookie which was delicious! I had that and a peppermint tea and the total was only $4! Low lighting and eclectic vibes - random chairs, tables etc make it feel like you belong. The baristas are really outgoing and nice and make you want to come back. Too bad this place isn't near where I live or I would be here all the time. A great indie coffee shop that I feel like I could bring a book and just chill for a bit. read more

3.5 star Rooster Coffee has this nice College vibe which is quite different to the first location on Broadview. People here are friendly and a lot of them busy on their laptops or preparing for their classes. It might be quite difficult to find an empty seat if you prefer to stay in and enjoy your coffee from a real cup just like me. Lines can be quite long but it does moves fast! I do love the rustic and cozy decoration and the coffee is quite good too! I will definitely be back when I am in the area. read more

At the risk of being hated by ALL the Hipsters I was not impressed with this coffee..... maybe it was the brew I had, maybe it was the to go cup itself that tasted off. Anyhow. Having been impressed by the their other location I was looking forward to this visit. Boy they did not disappoint. The setup is not as rustic (as commented by my friend) as the other location but it still have a nice and inviting feel to it. Actually too inviting as one of the person working their commented that even thought it was the his day off he still showed up to lend a hand. The desserts are quite good as well. We tried a almond croissant and almond based pastry and and both were decent. The sandwiches are apparently not from the same source as their other location (need to confirm that) Here is the verdict to the cappuccino Espresso: Medium Crema': Very nice Milk: Frothed very well with nice microfoam . This is hands down the best coffee shop in Toronto. For context, I've spent a significant amount of time in different coffee shops in the last three years. Many of them are great: Balzac's, Dineen Coffee, Dark Horse, Jimmy's... but there's a reason why Rooster Coffee earns awards over and over again. Let's start. The staff: all of the very friendly, very engaging and very authentic. No stuck-up, entitled vibes or fake smiles and scripted greetings. They're REAL people, down to earth individuals, always happy to see you walk in the shop and happy to prepare a delicious cup of coffee for you. The coffee: always always always outstanding. Six sigma quality. Food: Excellent variety of baked goods, sandwiches, salads, wraps, etc. The decor: beautiful and with a lot of character. A variety of couches, chairs, high tops, coffee tables and working stations. The patrons: a very cool mix of patrons frequent this place. From college students to people coding away, older crowd reading newspapers, etc. Prices? Affordable. An unquestionable 5 star. read more

Good coffee, with some unique options. I had an Americano (top notch) and a ginger / honey latter, which was also quite tasty. I ate a blueberry danish and it was just ok. No real flavour and the pastry was quite tense. They have a lot of baristas on deck (I was there 8-10 on a Friday morning), so I was served quickly and saw that everyone else was too. In addition to being quick, they were also good to answer food questions. They have great seating options: high tops, low work spaces, and two separate comfy couch sections. It's a good joint. Definitely a prime study/work spot, especially if you plan to plug in an electronic. The space is much quieter and more spacious than some of the other popular cafes in the area (Neo Coffee Bar, I'm looking at you). In addition, there are a number of wall outlets available, which is so key for a productive coffee session. Main downside is that the food options here are very basic - the pastries range from cookies to muffins, but not that appetizing-looking, and there aren't a lot of savoury options. Met up with a pal at Rooster Coffee with a pal on a lazy Sunday afternoon and loved it. Sadly, I forgot my phone at home so I didn't get a chance to snap photos to document the awesomeness of this coffee place. I really like the location - Corktown (and the stretch that RC is on) is really picking up with a number of cool coffee shops, bars, and restaurants. You're also like a ten minute walk from King Station so RC is in a convenient location. The look of this place is awesome as well; it looks like you're in someone's cool loft with a number of paintings from local artists. You also have to check out the washroom ... so cool. This place was a perfect place to catch up with my pal. I found staff to be super friendly (and hipster!); they all seem to know their coffee. My pal and I loved the latte art that came with our lattes; it definitely added a nice touch to our drinks. Rooster Coffee also has food like sandwiches, cookies, and squares. I love the Rooster location by Riverdale Park, and am glad this location near George Brown College is just as home-y and cute!! Excellent drinks, good food selection (not just sweets, they also have pre-made wraps, sandwiches, and salads), free wifi, and friendly service is a winning combo. Bonus points for: prices already include tax, there's a collective crossword puzzle by the barista and you can fill in the answers while you wait for your drink, a chalk board with a quote of the day. I will really miss this place when I start working in Scarborough soon. I have really appreciated this coffee place more and more. I really enjoy their service and vibe. I have also recommended this place over Starbucks/other cafes to other fellow coworkers/friends. They also love the drinks here. My favourites are: -Mocha with almond milk -Americano with soya milk -Creamy caramel tea latte -Latte with almond milk -Banana chocolate chip hazelnut muffins I love that they have set/reasonable prices here. They don't overcharge for fancy drinks. They have milk alternatives for no extra charge. They have great staff that make you feel welcomed as well as move the line faster which I really appreciate during my breaks. The only advice I can suggest is hopefully they provide a better storage for their baked goods that are on the counter. It's all sort of laid out for people to pick through/drop things on/accidentally rub their jackets on. Overall, with getting my drink with a lovely latte art on top. I have had way better lattes and brewed coffees at cafes nearby like Black Canary, Neo coffee bar, Tandem etc. Their latte tasted like milk with a hint of coffee. Beautiful little place with even more beautiful coffee. I got a cappuccino (excuse the overly-hipster photo) and it wasn't too bitter neither too sour. Super comfy and spacious, they have stools near the window and couches further back. You'll find your variety of hipsters and people who work in the financial district craving some really good coffee. The staff is super friendly, and so easy to strike a conversation with. Rooster Coffee House is adorable inside. From black and white subway honeycomb tiles, to the mix-matched natural wood and vintage furniture furniture, the styled design is cozy. The coffee is quality. Getting a simple shot of espresso, the pull was robust yet acquired smooth flavour throughout. They serve their espresso with sparking water - a knock to the traditionalist Italian way of serving. A fantastic plus! A nice plus was how friendly the staff was, even though we were being served at 6:30 PM on a weekday. They were cheerful and pleasant; a real plus considering the fast pace coffee environment of this larger city. I can't hate on Rooster, the peeps are passionate and so far they've been 3/4 for coffee bean recommendations. But this is definitely the 'hipster'coffee shop around the neighborhood. It's not NYC hipster, but Toronto hipster where it's a little bit more.... clean cut. And that's totally cool, I mean as a fellow Torontonian, I prefer our hipster feel anyways. I usually come here and get a straight latte and work away on the large wooden communal table. It has a great community feel and if you're in the area, this is by far the best choice around. PS. Surprised as I was to find out there was a King East location, I flocked to Rooster Cofffee on an impromptu solo trip. The space is absolutely stunning and their floor screams for crafted Instagram photos. I loved the overall design, the vintage bathrooms but most of all, their excellent service. The baristas were just so nice but my latte was even better if that's possible; actually, the BEST latte I have had in a very long time, beating out even my new favorite Boxcar Social. Perfectly creamy, rich and low on the acidity. Can't wait to come back. read more
