They are perfect for snacking, making pies, jams, and jellies. The orchard is relatively flat, making it so easy to walk amongst the trees. There are no hills to climb, just easy access to the trees and cherries! They have dwarf trees, so cherries are within reach for everyone, even the kids. This is a family owned business, and they welcome families to the farm. They have a petting zoo, tractor rides, and a picnic area. Dogs on leashes are welcome. Located in Mosier, which is just one exit past Hood River (exit 69 on I-84), the best cherries are from this area. Mosier is a high dessert, so it gets lots of sun on their open fields and hills. The scenery is breathtaking with views of Mt. Adams in the distance. At just $2.50 a pound, grab a bucket and pick away! Piatt Famiky Farm is just 1.6 miles from the exit, up on Carroll Road. They are open Friday-Sunday, 9am to 6pm, while cherry season lasts.

They have a small gift shop where you can buy tons of lavender goods, and the place smells amazing inside. I'm not a big lavender fan in my food but the ice cream was actually quite refreshing, especially in the warm sun! Because this farm is up in the hills, it seemed a lot warmer and less windy up here. They have a lot of outdoor seating and some outdoor games like cornhole so it makes for a great place to hang out. The shack in the middle has drinks and charcuterie boards to buy. They have a pond with weeping willows reaching down to a glassy surface full of water lilies. Birds and butterflies are everywhere. They encourage you to bring a camping chair and enjoy the ambience while you're there. It's very different from the usual hot, dusty, open field u-pick experience in Oregon. The wide variety of berries that ripen for many months running are organic and the bushes are lush and very healthy looking. Their prices are lower than most organic u-pick farms and they provide free bags. All proceeds go to the Fistula Foundation that helps women and girls in Uganda where the owners, Linda and Will, make regular trips. Willinda also has African art for sale like baskets and figurines--so beautiful! We look forward to coming here every year, I've brought groups of friends along. It's a not to be missed experience.

This was a breakthrough for my little boy, before coming here, he would refuse to eat blueberries. Now he can't get enough. I puts more in his belly than in the bucket. We go up and down the rows grabbing the darkest berries and at the end we take them up front to the lady in charge and pay for our loot. I always pay a few dollars more than what they tell me, because the twins eat quite a bit while picking the blueberries. Maybe it would be best for them to weigh my twins before and after the picking.

Seeing a post on Facebook, I had to stop by. After one visit, Alpenglow has become my regular stop for the most delicious fresh eggs and produce. The first time I was there, it was a sunny 80 degree early fall day, and after checking out the beautiful and inviting back patio, I had to stay for a delicious hard cider. It was so peaceful sitting out back, watching the chickens roam, her little girls laughing and jumping in the trampoline, and the beautiful view of Hood River Valley. There are even baby goats for the kids to enjoy. Or adults like me who adore goats! Alpenglow partners with other local farmers to ensure they are providing the freshest fruit and produce at competitive prices. Fruit varies depending on what is in season - Albion strawberries, blueberries, Asian pears, a variety of apples, fresh corn, Italian plums, chanterelle mushrooms, onions, black garlic, pumpkins, roasted pumpkin seeds, grapes, pears, and tomatoes - just to name a few from my recent visit! On this side of the building, there are picnic tables, an old fashioned swing, a patioawith tables and chairs, and if you walk behind the guest cottage, two pens with frisky, comical goats! I love going back here in the spring when the peach and pear trees are in bloom. and again in the summer when their garden is full of hollyhock and other cottage flowers. It's delightful. They have several ciders and you can do a tasting or buy a pint. or even fill a growler. Ciders are good, definitely on the pricy side. When fruit is in season, they have bins of peaches, plums, nectarines , cherries, pears, apples - of many varieties. so fresh and delicious. Definitely worth stopping in spring through fall as fruit changes. Pricey, but good. The building also serves as a country market selling jams, jellies, hazelnuts, chocolate, snacks - most local - and other handmade items. I write a more thorough review a few years ago with lots of pics - and have no idea why it's missing. actually, there used to be way more than 6 reviews for this business so I wonder if it changed names or owners.
