a week ago New Do not…read moretake your animals to this vet. Mine was dead within 3 months because of their negligence. Took my dog here in May with suspected seizures. But also had a weird cough/breathing issue. The tech(could not find picture on their website so I don't know who it was) did not like my dog and kept making snide remarks, I offered to muzzle her and they did not have me do that. She is anxious and just needs a caring and loving staff. The last comment that made me angry was when I overheard her telling the vet that "of course she coughs she barks like a maniac, having that kind of dog back there a 2nd time puts the entire staff at risk" I confronted her saying she coughs all the time, not just when she barks. She was rude, gave me a dirty look and only apologized when my husband got there. My dog came back from chest X-rays and the other tech went on about how sweet and loving my dog was. So I know she was behaving back there. Dr. Damman comes back and says he saw a blip but he thinks she must have moved during the X-ray and so he diagnosed her with a brain tumor, based off symptoms. They didn't want to help my dog. He just shoved seizures meds, discouraged us from seeking a specialist with talks of the THOUSANDS it's gonna cost me and that nothing that can be done for brain tumors. It would only give my dog another year tops. He said Take her home, give her these meds(phenobarbital) to help her, and enjoy the time you have left. The meds were absolutely awful and the longer she took them the worse she got. I called up there 3 times before the vet got back to me and he left a voicemail saying that I should bring her in to "evaluate quality of life". That was it. I called Hononegah animal hospital and Dr. Adas and staff were so great with my dog. My dog loved them. They could tell it was just anxiety and her being very protective over me so they asked me to step out and they just did the exam one on one and she did a phenomenal job. They started weening her off the meds and switching to something else. Which made my dog act completely normal again. A few weeks go by and She started swelling, so we took her back in to Dr. Adas, the issue was that the blip in the Xray was not from movement, it was early heart failure. Had it been caught by Brookside in May it could have been managed and treated with medication. But it had unfortunately progressed too far by this time. The fluid in her heart was leaking into her abdomen . We took her home, scheduled an in home euthanasia and spent 1 last week with our girl. August 17th 2024 was the last time I got to see the best girl. I am still completely heartbroken. My kids are still devastated. My home will never be the same. I should have left a review much earlier to help other families. But I wasn't ready to write it all out. There are a lot more details than this but I only have so many characters to leave a review. And unfortunately I can't leave less then a 1 star review. I hope that if you choose to take your pet to Dr. Damman and his crap tech, that they don't kill your family with their incompetence.

I am actually very sad to be writing this review, especially because I used to be an employee at…read morethis clinic for years, but the complete lack of compassion for the animals that has come since the current owner has taken over absolutely needs to be addressed. It is disgusting. This past weekend I was out of state on a family vacation when my 16 year old dog (who has been a patient at this clinic since she was a puppy and was just last seen in Oct of 2024) took a turn very fast, and I had to make the decision to have her euthanized even though I couldn't be there, which is heartbreaking on its own. My parents were caring for her in my absence, and when the in-home euthanasia dr I was hoping could do the procedure (because my last interaction at Mulford was not something I was willing to continue to have. I won't even get into that!) wasn't available they called around in a panic to get my girl out of pain as soon as possible. Naturally they called MAH to get her in since my family has always gone there, my dog was always a patient there, and I worked there previously. While my dog was howling in pain, my dad was told that she was no longer an established patient and would need a visit to be re-established and she would need her rabies vaccine before she could be euthanized and the first available appointment wouldn't be for two weeks out. Because an actively dying dog in pain needs the vaccine, right? When I worked at this clinic under two previous owners I can't even count the number of times I stayed late because an emergency came in (even animals that weren't patients at the clinic). Whether they were dying, injured, or just in distress or pain they were taken care of because we wanted to help the animals. There was no strong arming the clients into having a certain test to receive a medication. There was no requirement to get a certain treatment to be taken care of. There was just a care for a living being who needed help. I completely understand that times have changed, and veterinary clinics are overrun with so many animals needing to be cared for so there have to be some boundaries in place to give proper care to the established patients. I do. But I will never understand how a dog who has been seen for 16 years and was just seen 10 months ago is in pain and dying they have it in their hearts to just refuse to do anything for her. I will never step foot in that clinic again, and neither will the other several family members of mine who have been clients for DECADES. I will tell anyone who asks to run the other direction. By the way, Whispering Willows was able to accommodate us within hours. Their dr came to my house and treated my girl with the dignity and compassion every pet deserves. They even let me facetime so I could be there the only way possible. They deserve 5 stars.

Boy how wrong- my dog is dying and all they want to know is when I'll pay the rest of the bill ( approx $40 out of $800 paid) not once has anyone who has called asked how is he doing NOT once. If they had bothered to check on him - like they used to do- if they still were a humanitarian group - how beautiful that would have been. No such luck - now it's all about over selling and giving prescriptions your dog really doesn't need or can't take and paying them

I had a bad experience with Dr. Boonstra who I believe caused permanent damage to my 20-year old…read morecat's injured paw when she palpated it. Marilyn has not used her paw since this visit and I assume that something was dislodged during palpation. I found Dr. Boonstra to be rough with my fragile, 4.5 lb little cat lady, not competent and unwilling to provide rationales for expensive procedures. And all of this after a 50 minute wait! The medical director, Dr. Sanderson, has refused to even acknowledge that Dr. Boonstra could have harmed Marilyn, let alone offer remedial action. There is no professional accountability in this clinic and even Marilyn's medical records were inaccurate. I am heartbroken and deeply upset that a visit intended to help a fragile, elderly cat instead resulted in further injury and suffering. Marilyn spent nearly two decades surviving outdoors before I rescued her; she deserved gentleness, caution, and thoughtful care in her final years.

We recently adopted a 15 yr. old Chihuahua to give her a home for her old age, and again, we didn't know where to go. So I picked Alpine Vet Hospital because of reviews. I asked for DR. Sanderson. We have had Goldie there twice so far. I am pleased with the DR. he explains everything to us and is very nice to Goldie. The lady,Brenda at the front desk is so nice also.

I've taken Lovie (cat) to the Brodhead location several times over the last few years (and once or…read moretwice to their Monroe location where we first saw them), and had a couple of issues along the way. One example is their record keeping on rabies shots. They gave him a 3 year vaccine the first time we went there. Then, said he needed another the following year. When I questioned this, they said the previous vaccine had been the "one year" version. I thought maybe I was remembering wrong, so i said OK. The next year, I got another notice that he was due for a rabies shot. I knew for sure he'd gotten the three year version for the second shot, emailed back and forth with their office and thought it was resolved as the didn't mention it in following visits over the last couple of years. Now, we get to Monday of last week. I made an appointment for euthanasia after Lovie had a massive seizure the day before. He was getting around, but not himself and I didn't want him to suffer. Of course, I was worried if I was making the best decision, so I agreed when they said let's do blood/urine tests thinking maybe I had been jumping the gun. The price was $150 to get results back on Thursday... or I could pay $450 to get results back the same day. $450 was out of my budget since there would be more costs to follow, so I said said the $150 option. Then the veterinarian said we would need a CT scan to check for a tumor if the blood/urine tests didn't find anything. That would be $4000+. I stopped her there and explained I definitely would not do that as Lovie was 22-ish years old and I wouldn't have brain surgery for him at that age anyway. Then, they said he needed another rabies shot! I explained the above... again. The doctor argued, then she had someone from the front desk come in to argue - with both emphasizing the legal side of it - that if Lovie bit someone, animal control would take him away from me to be euthanized all alone without me. When I got home, I emailed them proof that he was covered. As we waited for the Thursday results, Lovie continued to decline to the point that he didn't eat food on Wednesday. So, I took him to Janesville Animal Clinic (Mineral Point Ave) where they checked him out and agreed with what I was seeing. They were incredibly kind and empathetic, and Lovie had a quick and painless passing. Brodhead did NOT call with test results on Thursday... or Friday. It was around their closing time on Saturday that I got a voicemail saying the results were in (but not what the results were), and that she would call back on Monday or the following Thursday. Seriously!!! I emailed them that Lovie was already deceased as of the day they were supposed to have called with test results. Their response, "During our discussion, we presented different care options and we did our best to explain the potential outcomes and implications of each. You agreed to starting with bloodwork." Yes, because I thought they would be doing what was best for Lovie - not dragging out his obvious decline. I say obvious because he had lost almost two pounds over the past year or so and his body temperature was low that day. They didn't even apologize for not getting the test results back in a timely manner even though they were in on that Thursday (I checked on their website that Thursday afternoon and the results had come back, but they didn't try to reach me until Saturday.) At the end of the day, I guess I should have been more assertive, but I trusted the "professionals" and hoped I was wrong about it being the end of Lovie's days. I am, however, glad I went to the second place to give by little buddy a humane end of life experience rather than continuing to let Brodhead VMC drag it out. I would like to add that several friends have said they bad similar bad experiences with this veterinarian.

They tend to charge too much and the young ones don't know how to talk to people. I do like the fact that they'll carry my animal cage in and out I'm handicapped.
