We were heading out for a good breakfast on a Wednesday morning before an activity we had planned…read moreout during the day. Although everything went fine, an event from another waitress made this stop uncomfortable, and even traumatizing to some people of our party. The good: Our waitress, Virginie, was terrific! She spoke English, was attentive to our very needs, was listening to our orders, came over a few times to check if we were okay. The food was wonderful. Freshly squeeze orange juice is just that, and it tasted great! Prices were reasonable. The bad: Waiting period is long. Coffee refills are rare. Bathroom badly located, and close to some dinners. And here is what happened... Another waitress came over with our plates. When she put down my plate, it was the wrong order. As l look deeper at it, she yanks it out of my field of vision, almost hitting my head in the process. Then my wife, who asks for very-well-done bacon strips notices her bacon is slightly cooked. She mentions it politely to this woman who, without letting her finish, takes her napkin, yanks it off her plate with her hand, and leaves. What in the world just happened?!? Our waitress later came back to check on us and we mention what happened. The shock on her face was evident. Virginie came back with her well-done bacon and a new paper napkin. She felt bad (even though it was not her fault). This quick event almost ruined our day as this woman's gesture had quite an impact on the rest of our day. This place would have zero stars (even though it is not possible on this app) if it was not for the wonderful service of Virginie.

My veggie skillet has 3 times as many potatoes/fries as everything else, which (potatoes) are only supposed to be a side thing. Another dish in our group, Quinoa skillet, was very tasteless. Overall average experience. The service was good.

The space was beautifully decorated with house plants and art on the walls of local plants and sea creatures. There was even a mini shop of teas and herbals at the entrance. The menu highlighted seafood and local farm to table options. We chose two appetizers including the fois gras with berry sauce and a charcuterie and cheese platter. It was all visually beautiful AND tasty! My husband tried the homemade seabuckthorn lemonade drink which reminded us of a combination of pineapple and orange juice. Our entree was the mussels with onions and wine sauce with fries on the side. Delicious! The waitstaff were so friendly even though the restaurant got very busy while we were there. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. We continued to be tantalized by the pouding chomeur with blueberries. The desserts were on display in a dessert cabinet near us. They warmed up the pouding (which is a traditional Québécois dessert) and served it with a drizzle of cream sauce (containing Irish creme ?) . It was a wonderful ending to the meal.

They were very fresh and tender but the broth was minimally seasoned, which was a slight disappointment. I was so looking forward to dipping my bread in it. Oh well, at least the mussels were delicious and the seafood risotto was fantastic. A very nice spot for an early dinner.

You don't want to be let down with mediocre or sub mediocrity in terms of food. This place really hit the mark. Like a total home run! Firstly it's a cracking good bakery with fresh artisanal bread. Secondly they do very high quality coffee. Thirdly they have sandwiches, soup and other great lunch items. My lunch I selected a seafood soup. It was rich, not salty and deliciously home made. Also as my ancestors must have come from the sea I had a Gaspesian smoked mackerel sandwich. It was one of the best sandwiches I've had in quite some time. Like blew my mind how good it was. It was tiny morsels of smoked fresh fish, thin apple slices. Shredded cabbage and a very nice light dressing. Holy macaroni it was amazing. I'd never think I'd have a smoked mackerel sandwich but I may try to replicate it at home. To round off the meal I ordered a capucinno and it was totally on point. Creamy. Piping hot and strong yet not bitter. To bring back to the grand ville I brought back two loaves of bread. Crispy, crunchy and soft in the centre. You would think a cafe like this would be in the Mille end Montreal or on Ave McGuire in QC or in SOHO in NYC but it's wonderfully amazing! When I Think of the options of coming here or eating at a place like St Hubert it's clear in my mind where I'd rather spend my money!
