Their counsellors are not qualified other than the fact that they are ex addicts and have been thru similar situations so they can relate. There is not much of a security procedure in terms or making sure the place is locked up and secure at night and there was a rodent problem when I was there last Jan 2019. We could hear the mice/rats Running thru the walls and they would actually come out at night in the kitchen behind the fridge and under the sink. The owner was in no hurry to get this taken care off and it wasn't during the 30 days I was there. The program consists of 2-3 group sessions a day no one on ones in my experience (even though it was promised ) and NA or AA meetings a few times a week.They only has 2-3 counsellors on rotation at this time so I'm not sure why they agreed to this but they sell your loved ones a dream and never follow thru. On the weekends they will take you to more meetings or try to organize some type of outting but there is not much to do in Welland. This rehab will work well for you if you are just looking for a place to get away to change your environment, influences ,mind set and start leading a sober lifestyle but if you require extensive counseling or more than group sessions and meetings they won't help you. They will say they will but they don't follow thru. Basically if they say they'll do something for you hold them to it. Because they are charging thousands of dollars. We also had billing issues with the owner in which we had to involve MASTERCARD to receive our partial refund after the owner stoped responding to emails very shady for a "professional" .

Edit: I couldn't smell anyway. I didn't smell anything because I couldn't smell and didn't realize until I cleared my sinuses with peppermint oil then went to the facility. I smelled everything that day. It's still not overwhelming and disgusting but it isn't a scent free facility. Edit: I do see cleaning staff but I also recognize which ones clean well and which ones don't do much at all. I've seen cleaning staff and aids keep the facility clean. It appears well stocked. There is an employee break room that has a wall of snack for purchase and there is a freezer and refrigerator with prepared for and frozen food items for purchase. The staff seem cool. Edit: it's really not as clean as originally stated. It isn't a dirty facility but it depends what unit ure on how clean it is. Now that I have seen every side of every unit I recognize what's clean abs what's not. There have been some plumbing issues as well nothing major though. Also I'm just finding out from staff that the residents tend to use the staff restrooms. Absolutely not okay with that. The facility is always short staffed. Every single day. I don't understand why. That's the down side.

Every day I get a call from either the occupational therapist, the nurse in charge of her care plan, or someone else with an update. Shana is awesome as a nurse coordinator, Denise her aide is so amazing and such a hard worker, the head nurse in charge on Thanksgiving went out of her way to make things happen for requests we had. My mom was able to call from her cell one evening and needed something small.....a box of tissues and asked me to call a nurse...within minutes she was attended to. Mom is a picky eater and she loves the food there. We still have approximately 10 or more days to go but I am very pleased with her care thus far and would highly recommend Encompass Health Erie.

Let's be honest:…read more This is not the sort of place anyone loves to spend time in. Personally, I have a visceral reaction to all nursing homes because of childhood experiences with them. That said, if you have to put your loved ones in a place like this, and believe me, I understand that sometimes you do HAVE to...this is a good one. This place is clean. It doesn't have that old person's home smell that hits you in the face like some places. The vibes are good. The staff is actually friendly, and we saw a lot of smiles. And maybe that's because I bring in two smiley little kids with me every time I'm here, but the nurses and the patients all seem to be in pretty good spirits, which can be rare at rehab centers. It seems as though the staff enjoys their work (as much as anyone does), and they took the time to put up a lot of festive decor for the holiday season. There's a Santa in the dining room, snowflakes and more on all the walls, and that's in addition to the sweet fish tank in the lobby area. From what we know, they take good care of our grandma too, which is the most important thing. She is actually happier here than she was at home, and has the full time round the clock attention she needs. And of course, Matlock is on TV, seemingly at all times.

Your loved one will be sharing a room with someone else, that is a guarantee. The only place they can put photos of their family is a 8x10 cork board or taped to the wall. Residents are left out in hallways in chairs sleeping, they are not checked on, dressed if needed, or bathed. If your family member needs help, they are ignored, even if yelling at the top of their lungs. If you plan on putting your family member there, you might as well say your last goodbyes. This place will kill whatever spirit they have left. Outside place looks like a lodge transformed to a nursing home, there are large potholes in the parking lot, you could fall, injure yourself and stay there while you're already there. Gutters look like there about to fall off the building, it looks forgotten about, and so do the residents. When you leave, you leave feeling like you need a shower in sanitizer. Go somewhere else please! For the sake of your loved one. I beg you!!!

The Nurses, aids, religion people, no one entered the room without a smile. I could see it right through their face masks! The different therapy people (physical, occupational, speech, etc.) were especially good with me and got me home in record time. I would recommend Saint Mary's to anyone.
