Pad Thai, Pineapple Curry & rice

Cool decor when you go up the stairs, makes you feel like you are in Thailand. Nice place for a relaxed date or for a family dinner. Good service as well! Great selection of appetizers, the chicken skewers were my favorite . The Pad Thai was good, the shrimps were HUGE! The pineapple curry is a good choice for those who don't like it too spicy!

If you love Thai food like I do, DEFINITELY try the Rose Garden's Lunch Buffet (cost is around $15/person) Everything from the salad rolls, all the way to the sticky rice mango dessert is DELICIOUS. Plus, being a vegetarian, it's nice to see they have meatless options in their buffet. The decor is beautiful & welcoming, and the service has been good every time I have been. Be warned: this place is PACKED during lunch hours, but it's definitely worth the wait.

In the last couple of years, we have been blessed with a real growth in the number of Thai restaurants in town. Once upon a time I might have given this place four stars, but the competition has gotten stiffer in this category. All of the Thai staples are served here, but the flavours are not as bright, and the presentation not as refined, as at places like White Elephant or Khao San. For example, the pad thai is too sweet, and not peanut-y enough for my taste. The curries are spicy, but lack some depth. Don't get me wrong, if you're in the downtown core and need a sweet/spicy/salty fix, you'll be sated here (tip: the rice is great and plentiful), but it's a interlude rather than a symphony. The decor, a cross between a Buddhist temple and a thatched-roofed beach hut, feels really Thai but is also a bit tired. This feeling is compounded by the low but unromantic lighting. The prices are average, but they have also have a 2-for-1 deal in the Entertainment Guide, which ensures I come back.

I thoroughly enjoyed the ginger chicken! Although the menu doesn't have pictures in it, and aesthetically, I have a problem with that.

The food here is very good. I only wish that they would use higher quality beef in their beef dishes.

When I walked in, I was both skeptical and kind of in awe at the same time. It felt like I walked into a movie set or a Christmas themed museum or something. There are so many decorations up but it also kind of just works. The first thing I'll bring up is the spice level. The spice levels are pretty similar to the true Thai spice levels. A hot level was giving me a good sweat while medium was just enough to burn the tongue a bit. The food itself was adequately described as authentic and delicious. The papaya salad in particular was very similar to the ones I've tried in Thailand. Great portion size and ratio between papaya and the other vegetables. It was absolutely delicious. The other reason why this restaurant is awesome is the customer service. From when I walked in to when I left, the server and who seemed like the manager or owner made sure everyone there was taken care of and didn't have to wait long for anything. I will definitely come back here when I visit Calgary again!

And our expectations were met, and exceeded! Although it's located in a funny little strip plaza, once you enter this lovely restaurant you immediately know it's different and managed by professionals. We were very politely taken to our reserved table, which they had situated in a private nook. Very nice. For a first course (and appetizer), Linda had a Tom Kha Gai soup, small, which is chicken and mushrooms in coconut milk with herbs and Thai ginger. She didn't want to share with me, but told me how absolutely delicious it was. Full of flavours, nuanced and layered. In a soup! I had the Tom Yum Goong, small, which a Thai creamy style hot and sour soup with prawns and mushrooms. The mild, delicious Enoki mushrooms, sometimes called golden needle mushrooms, were an exciting addition to this wonderful soup. Hands down, this was the best Tom Yum Goong I've tasted since my friend Mai's restaurant in Oakville back in 1997. Dinner for Linda was a Green Curry. Of course! She'll order a green curry anywhere we go, anytime! Served with zucchini, broccoli and green beans, she said it was one of the best she's ever had. Strong layered flavours. For those who love curry (like Linda), she said this is the best anywhere. I had the Chu Chi Basa, which is a basa fillet (lots, actually) drizzled with a rich red curry sauce, and served on a bed of exceptional raw young spinach. This was absolutely delicious. All the distinct flavours were present and identifiable. The fish was delicious, crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked on the inside. I can't say enough good about this dinner and this restaurant. It's a bit out of the way, but easy to find. It deserves to be known by all Calgarians who love authentic Thai food. Presentation: 5/5. It took a little bit to get our food but there were many customers. We had the Jackie Chan beef, pad sew ew, fried rice and yellow curry. It was all very good! The flavor was so tasty and it was the perfect amount of spice. The pad see ew (with tofu) was delicious and very flavorful, but a tad bit too salty. I asked for chili paste (the red one typically served at Thai restaurants), but the waitress brought out a brown chili paste that I didn't end up using. I was surprised to see a 75 cent charge on my bill for this, as I was not informed about that. It was another bummer to know that the entrees/curries are not served with rice and you must purchase side orders of rice (one order serves one person). Finally, soft drink refills are not free. They are gouging every penny at this restaurant! I would not recommend the mango sticky rice. The rice was hard and not soaked in coconut milk, so it was hard and not so much sticky. It was not enjoyable to eat at all. This is in downtown, so parking can be difficult. While visiting Calgary from the USA, I used the website indigoneo.ca to purchase parking online and would recommend it!
