I make it a must stop whenever we're in Rockford to come to Mary's. It's almost always the…read morePerryville shop (on McFarland). I only had one chance this time so I am very disappointed to have missed my chance for breakfast. I met a friend for lunch on Friday, the 24th. We talked for a while and then went to order. There was some confusion when we ordered. My friend ordered first and she ordered the California Pie and ice water (because they were out of lemonade?). I ordered the Sampler and gave her my sandwich order and ordered the cream shrimp soup and a frosted cutout cookie. It appeared they were getting low on the frosted cutout out cookies and I wanted a half dozen to go so I ordered those too. We went to the table and I realized I hadn't been asked about whether I wanted a drink. My friend didn't know where the water was and I told her the cups were on the end of the counter (that's where they were last time I was in). No cups on the end of the counter so we walked towards the registers and I grabbed a paper cup from the work side and told her that would work fine seeing as I couldn't see anyone. Just about then the lady walked up to the counter and said "Oh you ordered water" and she started to hand us two plastic glasses. I handed one of the glasses to my friend and told the cashier she hadn't actually asked what I wanted to drink. So I got my drink ordered. When my friend went to get the water it was confusing where to get the water from and one of the staff had to show her where it was. My friend got her order, almost before we got back to the table. Mine took quite a while after that to come to the table. However, the meals were delicious! The shrimp cream soup was absolutely yum!!! The sandwich was very good and, of course, that frosted cookie can't be beat!!!

We had just finished up another free blues concert at the Burpee Museum (there are 3 left for the…read moreseason!) which is every Wednesday at 5:30 pm, and I was looking for a quick desert. This place got the nod. When you walk in, you walk towards the back of the place, and then find someone to order your ice cream. They had a bunch of flavors, but one of them caught my eye (okay, several did, but I had to cut back). I went with their Cheesecake special, which was their cheesecake ice cream with strawberries, blueberries and graham cracker crust mixed in, in a cup. The counter person grabbed a large chunk of cheesecake ice cream (larger than I expected), and maneuvered it to the cold stone. There she worked in the graham cracker crust, the strawberries (2) and blueberries (around 8) into the ice cream mix. Then she placed it carefully into a cup, stuck in a spoon, and I paid for the mixture. I only had to wait a few minutes to be served, and they had a lot of customers. Seating is available inside, so we grabbed a seat and ate the ice cream. It was pretty good. The place is your typical ice cream place - pictures of product on the walls, and ice cream in the freezer cases in front of you. Honestly, if you are looking for good ice cream you can stop here and get some.

I'd have to say that my first time to Cold Stone Creamery was an experience. I asked a little…read moreabout their ice cream and if it was made on the premises. Yes in fact it was. The staff was very knowledgeable about the product, and very friendly. I even got free tastes. A plus! I chose the Jello Banana Pudding flavor in a waffle cone. Very rich, creamy, and delicious! The store was clean, and very well managed. I believe their prices were a bit steep, but in today's economy...it's understandable!
