The Memory Care team treated him with respect and kindness, giving him the most independence possible. Northridge Valleys staff and admin team values collaboration and relationships with families. We worked together to give Dad everything he needed to live his best life. They never saw him as an Alzheimer's patient, but as a human being whose needs changed as he progressed in his journey. It was obvious that the team loves what they do, which showed in how comfortable our dad was at Northridge Valley. The level of care gave us piece of mind, we knew he was receiving what he needed. I know long-term elder care is not cheap, but the care and love he received was absolutely priceless.

From the moment she arrived, the care was superb. The large and well-trained staff treated her as if she were a member of their family. From the administrators through the medication specialists through the wound nurses through the nursing assistants, the Northridge team was warm, totally professional and extremely patient. Pain management was excellent, and the nursing assistants were always available to ensure our mother's comfort. The physical therapy and occupational therapy is outstanding, and again, very patient. They tailored their routines to our mother's capabilities and always exhibited the utmost warmth and care. My brother and I were overprotective of our mother, and we could leave at the end of the day knowing she was in a caring and completely safe environment. I cannot recommend the Gardens highly enough.

Highland Manor is a warm and inviting care home. Current staff, Lilly, and Louie treat all the residents with love and respect. The staff accepts suggestions. This is a very secure home for family members who have dementia. Recommend this home to families who want caring staff taking care of their loved ones. Russell, the administrator, is a "hands-on" owner. When looking for a home for a loved one, this is very important. He welcomes suggestions and is available by phone if he is not onsite.

I moved my mom to Highlands Manor from another facility. In the process the staff from highlands…read moremanor by law was supposed to go and evaluate my mom prior to the move. When I inquired when the staff was going to do the evaluation the administrator replied he would do it when she arrived at the facility. Also before admission a written evaluation from her physician was to be received. When I had it faxed to me I could not read all of it. I asked it they wanted to wait for admission until I received the hard copy the administrator once again told me know it was fine and he would take the hard copy when I received it. My Mom was not a good fit for this facility. Had the facility done due diligence we would have know this prior to her transfer. Instead she was admitted the staff did not give her her medication for the entire two weeks she was there and then complained about her behavior. The administrator was rude and more concerned about his staff quitting because she was a difficult patient. If they had taken the time to evacuate her and spoke to her doctor like they were required to do before her transfer we probably would not have had to move my mom again in such a short period of time.

When my father arrived, he was understandably confused and disoriented after being hospitalized for two months. On his very first day, a caregiver appeared visibly upset that he was frequently calling for assistance. I overheard staff discussing taking away his help button, which was extremely concerning. While I understand that his behavior may have been challenging due to his confusion, I expected trained professionals who are equipped to handle situations like this. The next morning, less than 24 hours after his arrival, I received a text around 10:30 a.m. from Vic, the owner, stating that my father did not meet their safety requirements and would need to be transferred. This was followed by another message saying he was contacting other facilities. I was shocked by how quickly this decision was made and that I was not included in any discussion or decision-making regarding my father's care. A few hours later, I was informed that a van would arrive at 3:30 p.m. to transfer him to another facility, though I was not told where. When I followed up around 3:30, I was told my father was still at Care Island and had not been moved as originally stated. About an hour later, I was notified that he would instead be transferred at 8:00 p.m. to a facility much farther away. I was extremely disappointed by the lack of communication, transparency, and coordination--especially after being told my father could no longer stay. This experience added unnecessary stress during an already very difficult time for my family.

I can not say enough positive things about how wonderfully I was taken care of. The staff is very knowledgeable about patient care and does so in a gentle manner. Meals were well balanced and delicious. I have been a resident of other similar homes in the past. If I needed such care again, I definitely would want to be at this assisted living facility.
